The Tigers survived Joshua McClary's career shooting night; he was 8-10 from behind the arc.  Roanoke is a well coached, disciplined, physical squad.  They run good offensive sets with a lot of precision and hard cuts.  Brazil was unstoppable at times and the Maroons couldn't do much with Fernald.  Glad to get the W.

Macon sure thumped the Quakers on the boards.  Combine that with a poor shooting night and GC gets smoked.

Maybe Ferrum should start getting some Top 25 votes.

We are not  that many points better than GC ! Just a great night in the COTU for us and a bad night for them!! GREAT GAME JACKETS!!🐝🐝🐝🐝Save some for Saturday fellas!!

So, the same thing that happened to Guilford at Emory? I don't know because I didnt see the GC-Emory game but we could do little wrong last night! Shots were falling and we pretty much sealed the Quakers off on the boards plus another raucious crowd in Crenshw= TROUBLE!! Hope we can continue that trend vs the Tigers on Saturday night in Crenshaw!

Should be an empty gym on Saturday - all you Macon folks will be celebrating the big football win at Salisbury!  Crenshaw is an extremely difficult place for the visitors, especially the underdog Tigers.

OH IT WILL BE ROCKING IN CRENSHAW!!! Hoping our Football boys will show up mid-game with a BIG Football win to outstanding applause and will fire up our basketball boys even more! Its right around exam time so not many kids will go home this weekend so SECTION #33 ( student section ) will be CRAZY! Dunno if we can take your Tigers but a LOUD CRENSHAW is worth at least 5 points our way!!

Unfortunately I didn't get to watch the game I was out working almost all of Wedensday night.  Glad to see Roanoke held tough but there's no moral victories in college. We need a signature win this season against a really good team I think that could really put us in the higher bracket of the league.  We haven't gotten a signature win in a couple of seasons.

The ODAC team statistics so far show that the Jackets rely on the three point shot much more than other teams.  A little over 50% of their field goal attempts come from behind the arc, which seems remarkably high. It will be interesting to see if the Tigers can do a good job with their perimeter defense, maybe forcing the shooters a little deeper or making them put the ball on the floor.

It seems like a long time since the last game between H-SC and Macon; 3 1/2 weeks is significant for teams with a lot of new players.  Tugg Bizzelle and Alex Cannon have entered the rotation for the Tigers since then, mainly for their defensive play, although Tugg has started to show his scoring ability.  His 2 treys in the second half against Roanoke were big.  Another freshman, Peter Moye, got substantial minutes against Roanoke and looked comfortable in his first ODAC action; we'll see if that continues. 6'6" Ty Showalter has picked up PT with the Jackets.  Up to this point, the majority of his scoring comes from the perimeter, which is notable, considering his height.

D3Datacast and Massey computer models have the Jackets favored today. Guilford has looked shaky this season.  They had better gel today or they will be 0-2 in the ODAC.  Randolph has been playing well and they get to play in their claustrophobic matchbox gym.  The ODAC has two coaches who now compete against their alma mater and their former coach.  We get to see Averett's David Doino at home going up against his mentor, Dave Macedo, today.  Averett needs a win against an upper tier ODAC team.

Yes, another interesting lineup of games today. W&L and Roanoke are idle, while EMU plays non-conference opponent Southern Virginia. SVU is 4-1 vs ODAC teams and already has a one point win over EMU. But this game is at EMU and SVU is coming off a 42 point loss at Mary Washington on Tuesday.

Can Ferrum remain undefeated hosting Lynchburg? The Shenandoah at Bridgewater game doesn't have the drama associated with some of the other games, but one of them will get its first conference win and the other will go to 0-2 in the ODAC.

I finally have some free time to watch Roanoke play today......and learn they don't play again until Dec. 20th  :o .  I'm hoping Roanoke comes back hungry after a 16 day break from games.

In other odac news:
SVU beat EMU 76-66

At half for both games

Randolph is beating #17 Guilford 47-43

Bridgewater is beating Shenandoah 42-32

H-SC at RMC was a really frustrating game to watch, not because of the outcome, but because there was so much fouling taking place that there was no rhythm to the game. A total of 58 fouls were called. The Jackets couldn't replicate the hot shooting night they had against Guilford. Credit the H-SC defense for some of that, but there were also a number of just flat out misses that normally don't occur.

Guilford comes back to down Randolph and Bridgewater hangs on to beat Shenandoah.

Ferrum thumps Lynchburg by 32 and VWU hands Averett it's second straight loss, 67-50.

The Tigers and Jackets went toe to toe for 16 rounds.  I guess the best thing that can be said about the officiating was that both sides were pissed off.  One can say that the difference was Adam Brazil.  He can make some brilliant plays- as hard as the Jackets were defending, he slid through the defense several times in the second half for virtually uncontested layups.  This season the Jackets tend to live, or die, with the 3 point shot.  The Tigers forced some of the Macon shooters, such as Areikat, to drive when that isn't where they are most comfortable.

In other games, Guilford and VWU showed why they are ODAC top tier, taking wins on the road at Randolph and Averett, respectively.  Randolph had the Quakers down by 10 several times, but, in the last 5 minutes, made bad decisions, while GC was disciplined.  Several times a Randolph player took a long 3 almost immediately after crossing half court without making a pass - GC didn't have to play any defense on a shot the Wildcats could have had whenever they wanted it.

Ferrum!!!

Tigerfan

Big early season ODAC game tomorrow:  7-0 Ferrum visits the Fish Tank looking for a win against one of the ODAC elite.  Ferrum's schedule so far has been on the soft side, perhaps the softest in the nation.  However, they have been stomping all of the teams they faced with the exception of Averett, which was still a 12 point game.  Virginia Wesleyan is a different kettle of, ahem, fish.  They play real defense.

Congrats to Adam Brazil for his 3rd ODAC offensive player of the week and his second appearance on the D3hoops.com national Team of the Week this season.

^^^ Massey has VWU as a 5.5 point favorite.They have Ferrum's SoS as 260 and VWU's as 205.

I don't fully understand the D3datacast SoS ratings because the have six different SoS calculation columns. I've looked at the explanations for the columns and it appears that the most relevant column is SOS/OppEM (as opposed to NCSOS/OppEM). In any case, VWU ranks way above Ferrum in all six columns. Their prediction for the game will be available tomorrow.

Jacob Schauer's predictive ratings, which gets it's data from Massey, has VWU as a 1.6 point favorite. Not sure why he has a different score differential prediction.

Tigerfan

Massey includes non-D3 games in the data; Schauer and D3 Datacast exclude them. Ferrum's D1 George Mason game would make the Massey SOS stronger and VWU's Regent game would do the opposite.  I agree about the relevance of SOS/OppEM in D3 Datacast.
