Well after LC went 0-2 on a very critical weekend stand, it looks very very doubtfull we'll make it to the tournament, unless a miracle were to occur. I wouldn't be surprised at all if some of the younger guys get playing time in the last 3 games in order to prepare for next year.  Hopefully the monsterous recruiting class lives up to the hype and can step in with the current freshman and sophomores and make us better than we have this year. And if they do live up to the hype then I have a pretty good feeling we will. I wouldn't be surprised if LC fields at least one or two strong contenders for freshman of the year next year (if all the hype about them is true) because the freshman will most likely have plenty of opportunities to get the playing time to produce.

It starts next year. Everyone recruited by previous coaches will be gone except for Pete Vasilou, and other than Vas, all the players on the team will be the players Coach Swickrath has wanted and recruited. Some may be thinking "how can you get any good recruits after the year you've had??" but given the record and how many contributing players we are losing (5 of our top 8 players), recruits can be told that they will have a good chacne of starting or getting quality minutes off the bench (apparently some of the recruits could have started this year too). So recruits can either choose to go to teams with better records and sit on the bench for a year or two or more, or they can choose to go to a school where they can actually play for 4 years. That would be a tough decision for most players.

Randolph Macon has the two top contenders for freshman of the year, so I'd ahve to go with them.

What does everyone think of the Marlins #19 ranking in the most recent DIII hoops poll.  Is it too high, low or just about right?

Will the ODAC still get 2 bids to the show?  Its time for all you stat crunchers to go to work and give us ALL of the possible scenarios.

Oldfish - I think it's just about right. The Marlins have a better record with some more wins than some on the Top 25 but those teams been there longer.

I think the VWC's ranking should be higher actually.  I hate to be pessimistic, but I don't see another ODAC team getting a bid other than VWC, unless that team should win the ODAC tournament title.  Now this is a gut feeling; I'm not a stats cruncher.  It could also change about this time next week.

I agree with Jacketlawyer.  Unless another team besides VWC wins the ODAC tournament, I only see one team from the ODAC this year.
