My last post meant to finish with:

I wish Coach Shaver the best and hope he can turn things around at W&M.

If it is possible for W&M to have a winning b'ball program, Tony is certainly the coach to turn it around. I just hope he doesn't get too frustrated in the process.

Good luck to the ODAC teams this weekend, excluding RMC. I can't wish them any good luck when they play against my Tigers !!! I hope it is a good game for once !!!!

heard some bad news for EMU fans, Jason Sager has torn a ligament in his thumb. i think he did it in the first half of the RMC game on wed. to make it worse it was on his shooting hand. best of luck to him and the royals, may it be well enough for him to play by tourney time.

That is too bad - I also hope it heals quickly.

2nd Team
WANSLEY

for those of you who dont know jason sager...i do and i know him well...i played against him in high school and with him at EMU...he is tough as nails...i dont think this thumb injury will keep him out of action....i honestly dont...i expect him to play...this kid a warrior, i mean like rudy.....he has about 20 injuries going on, but you cant tell....
the only other thing i will say is KOREY WHITING deserves second team...how can you leave that kid off of second team all odac??????/
His stats speak for themself.....
15ppg.   7th in ODAC
5rpg.  15th in ODAC
46% fg.   16th ODAC
2.83 spg. 1st  ODAC
3.35 apg.   4th  ODAC
10th in ODAC freethrows
13th in ODAC blocked shots
6th in ODAC ASST/TO ratio

The kid does it all...there is nothing he doesnt do well......He is a great player...and deserves second team.. is there another kid that should get second team that has all those numbers???

stillfamily

No WAY SAGER DOESNT make first team all odac........cant be 4th in scoring and 1st in rebs. and not be first team

mybleedinghands

Stillfamily could not have been more correct on what he was saying about Sager. I would be shocked if Sager would miss any games this season because of the injury he sustained on Wed. against RMC, especially when EMU has a shot of moving up into the 6th spot for the ODAC Tournament. Also, Baselinejam....I would like to hear your reasoning for leaving Sager out of the First Team. In my opinion, Adair is POY but Sager is a candidate with Wansley and Kaase.

mybleedinghands

By the way, I've had some ODAC coaches say that Bob Johnson should get some consideration for COY

I am sorry but are we begining to compare Lance Reasbeck to Brandon Adair???
COMMMMEEE ON!!!  Points may be there because of the system, but I would take Brandon Adair long before Reasbeck.  I mean Reasbeck is a good ball player, no doubt.  But a player like Adair and Wansley only come every 10 years or so.  Let's be realistic about our comparisons.

You're probably right - I should move him up and bring down Prehmus or Fantin.

ODACfan.. 1. The team is not the same as last year's.  Marcus Fitch missed a good part of the season with a leg injury after getting off to a fabulous start.  He is back this year but still not 100%.  Peter Warren is gone and he was an asset as we all know  but other players again have stepped up and filled the void.  2.  Brandon did miss at least one game with a sprained neck but the Marlins won .  3.  I made a mistake when looking for the stats for E&H.  Thought I had pulled up the 2004-5 stats but when I scrolled down, the stats for this year were there and I didn't realize it.  Bob Johnson has improved this year from last year but still only a .522 ball club, which isn't bad but nowhere near the Marlins percentage.  4. Who has done a better job coaching?..Macedo by a landslide.  He prepares his team for every game, going over the films and finding ways to win.  What coaching does the "system" take?..No defense to speak of, No rebounding, just shooting the ball in a few seconds time.  Sorry but the "system" doesn't seem to be working so well.  Shooting is one aspect of the game of basketball.  Defense wins games.    What other team in the ODAC has had an 18 game win streak lately?  5.  You are entitled to your opinion as I am mine.  On this subject we will never agree.   Macedo is a class act.  Sitting down a player because of academics and losing the game wasn't easy , but it was the right thing to do.  Macedo also took a time-out in one game to congratulate another team's player on getting his 1000th point.  I remember the announcers of the game were amazed and had never seen that before.  Maybe Bob Johnson has done things like this too ,  I am just not aware of them. Until Bob shows me that he can recruit, prepare, and win like the Marlins have done this year, Macedo will get my vote. Frankly I don't think Macedo gives a hoot about whether or not he gets COY at this point, it probably the last thing on his mind.  His overall record since becoming head coach at VWC is 114-45.  Not too shabby. One more thing, If Reaseback was that good when he played, why did E&H's record improve so much after he was injured?  And why did Coach Johnson abandon regulation basketball in favor of the system?? It's still a mystery to me.

ODACfan1

I applaud Coach Macedo for benching a player due to academic reasons.  Every coach should be like that.  That is what d3 basketball is all about.  I think Bob Johnson should be appluaded as well for taking a huge risk in changing his system.  His reputation is on the line as is the respect he has earned in 25 years coaching.  Any coach that has the you know what to make a drastuc change like that is a real gutsy guy.  As far is the system not being regular basketball, well it is different you are right.  Emory and Henry plays defense for 94 feet and makes hoops from 21 feet.  How exciting is ODAC basketball in Emory.  Good luck tommorrow against Lynchburg.

DEANSLIST........what i was saying in my post is there is no way that Sager Shouldnt make first team.... He is definitely a candidate for POY, in my opinion he was POY last season for what he has done.....and yes sager is a warrior BUT, i have gotten word that SAGER won't play in the final two games, he wants to play, but a higher authority made the call.....could be tentative, but as of now he may not play.....if it was his decision no way he misses a game, your right deanslist!!!!! lets go royals!!!!!!!
