Roanoke travels in snow to Greensboro and comes away with a rare road win against the Quakers, 84-73.  Roanke went on a 10-0 run to close out the game, even though they missed several free throws at the end.  LaPorte and Peery both score 15 inside, and LaPorte had 12 rebounds and Peery with 9 rebounds, neutralizing Strong inside.  Butler with 13; Dowell with 11.  Ben Strong held to 14 points.  Page Moir said the Maroons had to match the intensity of the Quakers, and that was the key for Roanoke to stay aggressive throughout the second half.  Maybe hasanova has an eyewitness report to supplement my radio-derived observations.

I'm sad to say I was there.  Very disappointing.  By my scorecard, I had the Quakers taking a 73-72 lead on a Kimbrough three (#13 had 3 of GC's 7) and then going stone-cold scoreless for the last five minutes.  Once Guilford was forced to foul, the final margin grew to 11.  I never know which Quaker team will show up - Dr. Jekyll or Mr. Hyde.  lol  I think Palombo was so upset with his starters that he put them on the bench for longer than normal.  To RC's credit, I counted eight three-pointers and four - yes, four - old-fashioned three point plays!  I had the Quakers making only 10  out of 14 FT's and the Maroons made 26 out of 41!  I'm not saying the refs called a bad game, but that is a big discrepancy.  The Quakers actually outscored the Maroons from the floor.  Congratulations to the Maroons, however, it was anyone's game with 5 minutes to go and Roanoke stepped up and the Quakers did not.  Sigh!

RMC over HSC 91-75.  Jackets shot 67% for the game & out rebounded the Tigers by 13.  6 RMC players in double figures & Wansley had 15.

No surprise in the Lynchburg vs. Emory & Henry game.  The Wasps win, 97-81.  What's the silver lining in this loss, <?

WASPS take down Lynchburg today in Emory.  All I can say that is it looks like E&H is hitting its stride going into the tournament.  It seems as if Hank Luten and Shavar Bland have refound their stroke to go along with all the great shooters the WASPS have.  Luten had a big first half hitting 3 threes to really jump-start the Emory attack.  Shavar Bland, Camillo Weinz, and Cain Landreth took over in the second half as EMORY  was in complete control after halftime.  Great win on Senior Day as Will Schwartstein and Gary Kerns were honored as the lone seniors.  Big game at Roanoke on Tuesday.  It is definitely exciting in Emory heading into the last week of the season.  GO WASPS!
