aww yes the number 3 seed in the tourney, i'll take that, so here are my picks and scores...

#1   Virginia Wesleyan-81 vs. #8 Eastern Mennonite-63

#4
  Guilford-112 vs. #5 Emory & Henry-105

#2 Randolph-Macon-70 vs. #7  Bridgewater-61

#3 Hampden-Sydney-60 vs. #6  Roanoke-65, here we go folks my upset special, i haven't seen RC play but looking back over stats, this is a strong possibility and i am going to take it, it could cost me, but thats the breaks!!

sludge

#1   Virginia Wesleyan-84 vs. #8 Eastern Mennonite-65
The respectable EMU team doesn't make it past VWC.

#4   Guilford-97 vs. #5 Emory & Henry-91
Guilford steps up and plays defense and offense at the same time.  Likely the most interesting game of the day.
#2 Randolph-Macon-70 vs. #7  Bridgewater-59
         RMC rolls at the end.
#3 Hampden-Sydney-70 vs. #6  Roanoke-63
The last time I saw HSC play, they were hitting everything from everywhere.  If they can do that, Roanoke will have their hands full.

OK, I know, picking the seeds, but these are not all safe picks.  Gimme a break.  And nobody really wants to play E&H.

Just got done taking a look at the final ODAC standings and stats for the year.  Congratulations to all teams, especially Emory and Henry finishing in a tie for 4th at 10-8 in the conference.  Also congratulations to Will Schwartstein who finished 1st in blocked shots in the league and Hank Luton who finished 1st in steals in the ODAC(tied with the all-time leader in steals Andy Albright).   Certainly congratulations to Andy as well.  Cain Landreth and Kory Townsend finished in the top 15 in scoring.  Didnt get to go to the Roanoke game but from the box score it looked likek Emory may be on the verge of something special.  Lets hope that they can make a push in the tournament.  Good luck to all teams.  GO WASPS!

Steelyglen .... Should we post the semifinal and final picks before the quarterfinals, as one poster has done, or after each day is completed, as others have done?

post your picks each day..not all at once...jww is pretty confident that he is runningthe table for those 'pies and RC's....post e'm here or e-mail them to me ...your choice...

Areas such as double and triple teams drawn and "was fouled" might go to Strong.

I am going to have to say that Adair was double and tripled teamed as much if not more than Strong.

Am I getting a first round bye or no?  Kinda confused.

The Roanoke Times has an article this morning about Ed Green, current assistant coach--former head coach--for the Maroons.

I'm sorry Steely but it was unclear to me just exactly what I was supposed to do so I did it all at once because I figured I'll be out of touch electronically this weekend. I also did it all at once because I'm old and don't follow directions very well. Oh well so it goes. GO FISH!

J. Loesel - excellent article. Thanks for posting it.

I don't know where you are coming from. My post was a response to Oldfish asking if national rankings/post season play have much to do with recruiting... you respond to that by implying that I have given up on the Tigers...  By no means have I've given up on the Tigers but my assessment of the program is correct. I think everybody agrees the Soph class has some talent, Kasse and Prehmus for sure. I see the freshman class as being fairly weak which DOES support my response to Oldfish. You have lost your mind if you think I've given up on the Tigers but an honest assessment is, the program is not as strong as it has been in the past... that does not mean it will not improve .... that does not mean Coach Smith is doing a bad job .... all that means is the program is not as strong as it has been... and by the way I'm fully aware of the two players that transfered and the one that quit...  You need not waste your time asking me not to give up on Tigers... that will never happen ...  but you need to get realistic and come to grips with the fact that the program is not at the same level it once was ... and not take an admission to that fact as an indication that a person has given up on the Tigers... And by the way ... I'm not "disapointed" .... just an avid Tiger fan that calls it the way I see it and always will. When they are good I'll say they are good .... when they are not so good I'll admit to that as well ... if that is giving up in your opinion... so be it

Congrats to the Marlins for running the table the last 20 games...Hard to top that ..for any team in any conference.  Hope your streak continues in the tourney.  Good luck to all the teams in Salem.  Its going to be an war...and with so many teams that are capable of upsets, should be a great weekend of basketball.

The arrangements are in place for the annual trip to Salem.  I'm not too sure about the gathering of posters, however.  I'm afraid that I do not want to expose the little Tigerfans to that beer-spitting behavior of Jacketlawyer.  I've been training them to keep it down.

JTTiger, I confess that 5 consecutive losses to the Jackets does produce disappointment in me.  Bitter, bilious disappointment.  17 3 point shots in the first half at Roanoke also disappointed me.  However, I remain confident that the Tigers will correct their past mistakes and hope to see their best basketball of the year in Salem.  Salem has been very good to the Tigers in the past.  In looking at the past championships, I was reminded that the Tigers came within very few points of winning 8 consecutive ODAC championships between 1997 to 2004, settling for 6 over that period.
