The natural radiance of the Hampden-Sydney faithful warms all who come near.   I'm sure that came through to Steely and the other listeners of the Tiger broadcasters.  :D

On his way to the post-game interview with the "good-guy" crew, Leatherman muttered to me, "A season of missed opportunities."

Good morning ODAC hoops fans -- I hope you're all enjoying the weekend.  Sounds like there were some great games on Saturday.

Just a quick news tidbit -- R-MC's Justin Wansley scored his 1,500th career point Saturday.  He has 1,515 total now, ranking him at #10 on R-MC's all-time career scoring list.

Justin also has 792 career rebounds right now -- he needs seven to move into fifth on the R-MC all-time list.

Enjoy Sunday's semifinals!

That photo looks like the cover-shot for the latest edition of Scandinavian Humor ....

The Tiger faithful were grimly focused on the task ahead of them after "winning" the pre-tournament festivities the night before.  The Tiger broadcast team sacrificed themselves for the greater good by staying at the hospitality room until the bitter end in their search for humorous tidbits to lay on the listening audience.

Steely, the foul shot rebound call was poorly described because it was incomprehensible and inexplicable.  Matt Green made no move to get the ball and then was pursued by the ref as he went back up the floor.  Guilford was victimized by the phantom timeout call.  They were inbounding near their bench, had some trouble, ref calls timeout.  Guilford bench asks who called the timeout, we didn't call timeout.  Ref gives ball to E&H.

The pre-game comments by Jared Butler were not well received.  The Tiger guards did not believe there was a sound factual basis for the comments about them.

Back to the hot tub.

I do prefer using conference only stats whenever possible to determine my opinion about who should be First Team.  However, neither the Guilford website nor the Bridgewater website had conference only stats like some other schools do.  The ODAC website does list several, but they were not listed for A/TO and steals.  And I'm not going to look up 18 conference games for that.  So the fact you did is very impressive in your calculations.  My main point, though, is this.  You can make the stats say whatever you want them to once you start doing those calculations.  And I'm sure you are aware of this.  So the fact that Strong has an advantage using your equation is skewed.

Also, I did mention how Michael played much better against the top 2 teams in the league and had more double-doubles against ODAC competition.

You are probably correct in that other factors were involved as well.  I do not think it is right when a TEAM'S won-loss record effects how an INDIVIDUAL'S award is voting on, but it happens quite a bit.  Maybe it didn't in this case.  I said the coach's know much more about it than me.

Congratulations to Ben on making First Team.  With two years left, he will no doubt get better and earn more honors.

IN BC and Guilford's two matchups, heres how Ben Strong and Clay Michael did:

Strong: 13/19 from the field, 12/12 from FT, 7 boards per game, 19 ppg, 2 assists per game, 1 TO per game, 1 block per game, .5 steals per game

Michael: 16/27 from the field, 4/8 from FT, 6 boards a game, 18 points a game, 3 assists per game, 2.5 TOs a game, 1 block a game, and 2 steals a game.

FG%: advantage strong
FT%: advantage strong
Rebounds: advantage strong
Points: advntage strong
assists: advantage michael
turnovers: advantage strong
blocks: push
steals: advantage michael.

Statistis show that Ben Srong performed better, jsut about every poster on this board gave him first team, and the coaches gave him first team. Give up this BS talk about Strong doesnt deserve first team.

Steely,

The solution to the 8 in parens coming out 8) is to leave a space before the right parens.  (8 )

Great...now my life is complete... ::)

Scottie...

You, saying a poster puts up BS?  You might as well call the kettle black.  LC will have a winning season... LC will make the ODAC Tournament... we played a team for money, not to win... LC should start preparing for next season, and after one win, LC has not given up on this season... making a case for Matt Sweeney to make an All-ODAC Team... saying Korey Townsend made an All-ODAC team because of where his team finished... saying Josh LaPorte should not, after saying he was one of the most complete players in the ODAC earlier in the year.  Any of this sound familiar to you.

Also, in my original post comparing stats, I mentioned that Strong averaged more points and rebounds.  And I did say that one more point and one more rebound was not significant.  If you think it is, so be it.  I have said Strong is the one that actually MADE first team.  I have given congratulatory remarks and said he will certainly get better and continue to earn individual honors.

Sometimes, you make responses so easy, it almost isn't worth it.

THAT "powdered wig" is WAY out of his league... I guess the celebrity of not only being a GURU...but being a 2nd seeded GURU and having made it to Sunday is enough to turn the head of even the classiest co-ed! ;)

Congratulations to all the ODAC post-season award winners!  That's all you need to say.  Sometimes, less is more.

I've seen "powdered wigs" before and, trust me, she's anything but a "powdered wig!"  Someone earlier, however, said "powdered whigs."  I've been to a lot of basketball games in my life, but the Powdered Whigs were last seen whipping some Tory butt in the mid-19th century - probably part of a double-header with Texas versus Mexico in the Alamodome.  :)

I'm sure Jimmy got pics of this mid 19th century double-dip...but I'm guessing B&W! ;D

actually the odac website DOES list conference and overall statistics for all teams - select the team you want, then select Overall/Conference and you'll get what you want...i can assure you i'm not doing THAT much work to run numbers on any odac players :)
