I'm just curious what the attendance was last night and what it might be next year if there is a combined men's and women's championship double-header on Sunday afternoon.

First Round:
Emu vs. VWC - 250
guilford vs. E&H- 850
rmc vs. bc - 698
hsc vs. roanoke - 2124

second round:
vwc vs. guilford - 672
rmc vs. hsc - 1015

title game:
vwc vs. rmc - 1379

so the average attendance was 998.28 per game
Thanks, Scottie.  I still don't understand how they break down the attendance by game when tickets are sold for a two-game set.  :)

been off the board 4 a few years..but still rooting 4 VWC...for the guys that have been on here for a few years..remember the VWC - HSC battles a few years ago....I still maintain Tim Petrillo was the best guard in the league then!

Those were some great games, with players like Petrillo, Nickerson, Yuhasz, Grimes, Fox, Harris, and Jirak on the court.

To say that Tim Petrillo was the best guard in the league is certainly quite an assertion, given that he played against the likes of All-American T. J. Grimes, Chris Fox, and Brad Dunleavy.

yeah i realize the talent then...you brought up a few good names from those days...VWC seemed too not have any luck...i still like TP...excellent player..overcame his size deficit...teamplayer...great attitude....

I watched the game last night via the streaming video, and then some of the delayed telecast.  That was just an incredible game, and probably one of the best college games I've ever seen on any level.  Naturally, I'm disappointed R-M didn't win, but I'm taking nothing away from VWC.  They made the plays when they had to.

The only way I see R-M not making the tournament is if a lower seed in another conference wins their tournament, and Macon gets displaced by that lower seed.

Good luck to VWC in the NCAAs.  Go deep and make the ODAC look good.

Quote from: GP87 on February 20, 2006, 10:38:28 PMI don't think Macon will make the tournament, even though they are probably competitive enough to be there.  There are teams like that every year.  Personally, I'd love to see R-MC in the tourney.  The more ODAC teams the better..

Just curious...Why don't you think they will make the tournament?  Pat is saying they are in pretty good shape.

It's easy to forget that the tournament field has expanded from 48 to 58 teams this year.  The number of Pool C's has gone from 7-8 teams last year to 18 Pool C bids this year.

While a 19-6 regional record last year wouldn't have been sufficient for a bid, the Yellow Jackets are in great shape to get a Pool C bid this year.  Given their regional record, their QOWI, Pat's comment, and what I've read in a quick surfing of some multi-regional discussions on this site, I would be really surprised if the Yellow Jackets don't get a Pool C bid.

As Ralph Turner described it in August, the NCAA's tournament format proposal for a 58 team tourney "would have 10 sites featuring 4-teams playing single elimination on Friday and Saturday nights and the remaining 18 teams playing in 6 sub-brackets of the familiar visitor-home-bye format on Thursday and Saturday."  I assume that this proposal was adopted, but wonder if someone could confirm that?

If that's the format, then there are only 6 teams in the country that will get a first round bye.  Perhaps VWC will be one of those, hosting a game at the Beach on Saturday the 4th.  Otherwise, it seems safe to assume that VWC will host one of the 4-team Fri/Sat tournament brackets on the 3rd and 4th.

Randolph-Macon will travel, probably for one of the Fri/Sat tournament brackets, and it will be somewhere within 500 miles.  That might be as far away as Tennessee, Ohio, Pennsylvania, or New Jersey.

I'm sorry I missed the game since it was so good Jacketlawyer.  I always enjoy a good basketball game even if Macon is involved!  ;)  The best game I have ever seen in person was the 1999 National Championship game between H-SCand Plateville.  The 1-pt. loss in 2OT was excruciating but it was an exciting game the entire time.  I don't remember for sure, but I think the biggest lead of the game was like 8 points.

Brian, I remember that H-S/Platteville game very well, and while I didn't see it, I was pulling for H-S in that game. Like that game, I think the biggest lead was 8 points last night.

Interesting article in today's DNR about whether EMU's Sager will return next year.

Sorry about my naiveté - what's the DNR? I've only heard good things about Sager and it would be a shame if he left the EMU program. Unless of course he wants to transfer to W&L.

I think it is the Harrisonburg (VA) Daily News-Record.  I just found it, try www.dnronline.com.

Loving seeing the hot cheerleaders on the D3hoops front page with the VW players. I hope Amherst plays the Marlins in NCAA tournament.

Nice shot at the Amherst cheerleaders - Williams is a better target.

Someone asked about R-M being the Duke of the ODAC. Check out this website and you'll never want to be compared to dook again. It is long and amusing and as far as I'm concerned totally accurate ;D!

If you like the manifesto, you ought to read BlueBloods.  Great book on the UNC-Duke rivalry.  Other than the fact that both R-M and Duke are Methodist schools, and that the refs are "on our side" as alleged by some posters, I think the similarities end there! ;)
