Regarding the ODAC tournament location, I would like to see the tournament moved to Richmond.  I believe that this would be a huge advantage for Hampden-Sydney.  I reach this conclusion from recent news that would indicate that Randolph-Macon and Virginia Wesleyan would not be able to participate in a tournament held in Richmond.  See this link: No Methodists in Richmond

The Presbyterians would dominate in the evil city.  ;D

Does this also mean RMC can never play CUA in DC?  lol

Tigerfan,
I'm wondering why you didn't include E&H as naysayers to a Richmond venue.  Are you suggesting they are not United with the tidewater and piedmont Methodists on this issue?   :)

Tigerfan

Although I have not carefully researched the issue, I assumed that those who run the system would already burn in hell for violating the Methodist Book of Discipline, as the system appears to be a communist, secular creation.  If such an assumption is true, why would E&H be bothered about playing in the city of evil?   ;)

This discussion is too damn amusing.  Love it.

On  a basketball note, however, Jeloesel, I am hoping you are on photo patrol at the women's ODAC tourney.  Megan Silva's last tournament in an R-M uniform.  Last night she became the highest scorer in R-M history, male or female.  There could be a market for the pics. ;)

You all may create some hurt feelings. I'm offended by all this blather. I  have good friends that are Methodist (I think) & someone has to stand up for them.

Does anyone know where RMC stands in the latest South Region ranking ?
Please look here and then find the Daily Dose.  The "Third Regional Ranking" story is that 3rd link under the Daily Dose section of the front page. :)

I'll just post it here ....

South
1 Mississippi College 22-1 24-1
2 Trinity (Texas) 16-2 20-5  Trinity lost to Rhodes in the QtrF 87-83 Feb 24th.
3 Virginia Wesleyan 23-3 24-3
4 Randolph-Macon 19-5 22-5
T5. Fisk 9-4 14-10
T5. Maryville (Tenn.) 14-6 19-6
7 Howard Payne 17-6 18-6
8 Mary Hardin-Baylor 17-6 17-8

I think we're almost certainly going to see two things:

1) VWC will not get a bye, despite their 23-game win streak.  There are only 5 byes and too many teams in the country that will end the season with 2 or fewer losses.  Their early-season losses to Trinity, Salisbury, and Hampden-Sydney will keep them from getting a bye, unfortunately.  (I think Mississippi College will likely get a bye, if they win the ASC title.)  VWC will host a 4-team tournament at the Beach on March 3-4.  If they play like they are capable of playing and some other top teams fall before the sectionals, the Marlins also have a shot at hosting a sectional on March 10-11.

2) RMC will definitely get into the tournament.  Given their record, their QOWi, their #4 ranking in the South, I think it's a no-brainer.  It's just a question of how far they will travel for the first game and whether that will be on Thursday the 2nd (as part of one of the five 3-team brackets) or on Friday the 3rd (as part of one of the eleven 4-team brackets).

That's my take.  Do I understand correctly that nothing will be publicly announced until Monday morning?

Fans, I submit that the favored status in the new tourney bracket is now to host the first round and to get the weakest seed on the opening night.

What any team wants to do is to get the win and to get the butterflies out.  I would hate to wait until Saturday to face an opponent that has gained momentum, when I had a similar chance to pick up a win and get my "tourney feet wet" on Friday night.

VWC Head Coach Dave Macedo was in the Freeman Center Friday night watching at least the Captains defeat NC Wesleyan. Dont know if watched the 2 pm semifinal or not, but he was definitely watching cnu play. Im guessing he's expecting to see the USA South winner next weekend.

Pat-

So how much is Macon in trouble with these "favored" teams in the Middle Atlantic and Northeast losing and being put into Pool C?

Thanks-

FISHTANKFAN

Mr.  Losel, any way I can get the pictures of the Marlins and Coach Macedo winning the ODAC?..Do you have an email that I can reach you at?  Thanks.

Pat's take on Pool C bids is at http://www.d3hoops.com/dailydose/?p=146

From what I see, the Yellow Jackets look pretty likely to get a Pool C.  It will help if Mississippi College, Worcester Polytech, and Ursinus win today.
