Obviously, a joke and a little wishful thinking. But with the brackets, it's one of the few, if only, conference with such a chance.

I understand, and you are fortunate in that respect.  If Wooster advances and Witt advances, it will be for a trip to Salem.  Likewise for Augustana and Ill Wesleyan.  Hope and Calvin get jobbed by the NCAA as they potentially meet Saturday after playing 7 days before.

I LOVE the hype, and what this forum offers--and I'm looking forward to the first ever matchup between RMC and the Fighting Scots on Friday in Lexington!

GO SCOTS!

There's only two leagues in the 2006 bracket that have teams in different sections, i.e., the chance to do what the NESCAC did a couple of years ago by sending two teams to the Final Four. One is the WIAC, with two teams (UW-Whitewater and UW-Stout) in the Midwest/West section and a third (UW-LaCrosse) in the Great Lakes/South section. The other is the ODAC, with a team in the Middle Atlantic/Atlantic section (Virginia Wesleyan) and a team in the Great Lakes/South section (Randolph-Macon).

Since the Midwest/West and Middle Atlantic/Atlantic sectionals' winners are matched up in one national semifinal and the Great Lakes/South and Northeast/East sectionals' winners are matched up in the other, it's possible that there could either be an all-WIAC national championship game or an all-ODAC national championship game.

scottie - i've posted what i think the usasac team will look like (using all 15 seniors in the league), along with ht/wt/ppg and a 2nd key stat on the usasac board - i think the odac post players will be licking their chops in anticipation of this game :)

For those of you that don't know W&L doesn't have any seniors, ergo no one is eligible.

jaf - I hope Scottie won't mind if I answer for him.  I found the press release issued in January and it said the inaugural game will be on March 22, 2006 at the Grant Center on the campus of Averett University in Danville, VA.  I didn't see a time, but I'm guessing 7-7:30 pm since it's a Wednesday night.  Should be fun!

HUH,

No EJ Arrington from EMU?  1000 pt scorer missing from the senior game?

I'm a bit surprised by that along with the omission of Matt Sweeney.

I'm not sure how the teams are chosen, but I think it's a safe bet that it was Arrington's choice.  I don't think there's any way that some of the players on the team would have been chosen instead of Arrington, were he available / interested.

When I stopped by Guilford yesterday to watch the end of the baseball game with Greensboro, I had an interesting conversation with Caleb Kimbrough.  Among other things, he told me he is not playing tennis this spring so he can concentrate on playing basketball and conditioning.  Considering Caleb was ODAC tennis champ last spring at #3 singles, I think this says a lot about his commitment to the Quakers being an improved team in 2006-07.
