Anyone else read the front of d3hoops?  HaHa!  I am probably being a bitter Marlin fan and notice it more because I am a Marlin fan, but geez?  There are three great observations and then there is Virginia Wesleyan's observation.  There are three indepth looks and then a blurb about VWC.  LOL, I guess Brandon Adair isn't a big deal?  Well, I hope the boys get things going especially on this quote:

"Yes. Virginia Wesleyan is the least likely champ but there's enough of a chance that it's worth considering. "

Didn't this team just win 26 games in a row???

Great article about Tyler Fantin in todays Virginian Pilot.  I see the media has jumped on the band wagon.  Funny, Wednesday night when the team was getting on the bus to head to Salem there was a news camera there.  I felt like saying, "Hey buddy, didn't think you knew where this place was."  It takes an act of congress to get some following of VWC.  That is the only knock I have on Virginia Beach/Norfolk and what I love about the rest of the ODAC areas.  There support for DIII schools is incredible.  Anyways, here is the article:

Oh cry me a river VWC fans, then build a bridge and get over it. You are in the Final Four, VWC has a good chance of winning the national championship, stop acting like the world owes you something. VWC was just part of a 12-minute feature on ESPN's 6pm SportsCenter last evening about the D3 Tournament.

Your observation is certainly accurate.  Whatever the reason, whoever wrote the piece (Pat?) has written more than 3 times as much about Illinois Wesleyan as about the Marlins.  Here's an example of the difference in description:

About IWU:
What you will see: Most teams have two commanding players on the floor, but Illinois Wesleyan boasts three. Adam Dauksas and Keelan Amelianovich are no-brainer candidates for first or second-team All-American status. Zach Freeman doesn't get as much of the publicity but plays a huge role in establishing an inside presence for the Titans. This is a snappy, athletic basketball team that can play up-tempo or slow it down. IWU moves the basketball well with crisp passes and the motion offense will have all five players getting the ball anywhere on the court. Combine their strong ball movement with their quickness and many opponents will be looking over their shoulder just in time to see a Titan go to the hoop with an easy bucket.

About VWC:
What you will see: Pressure defense, athletic ball movement.

While it's disappointing that D3hoops has written such a short little blip about the Marlins, it goes without saying that what D3hoops writes scores no points and makes no difference.  The most important thing is what happens on the court.  The second most important thing is how many people turn out to support the Marlins.  Virginia Wesleyan's President has the right idea.

I'd modestly point out that I'm just glad there's a D3 hoops at all (not that ya'll aren't).  Remember the days when there was no coverage at all?

VWC has an opportunity to write their own story!!

Thanks, Captain Obvious.

For those who don't know, and I think I'm safe in assuming algernon does, the D3hoops.com staff gets most of their content from SIDs and other contributors.  Therefore, it's probably safe to assume that the content for Amherst, Wittenberg and Illinois Wesleyan was provided and/or written by people not named Pat, Mark or Gordon.

What I don't get is why people love expecting so much from the D3hoops.com staff, when they already give so much of their time.  Not to mention they barely stay above water, financially.

How about we thank them for doing all the audio for the tournament games, and how we'll be able to watch the Marlins on streaming video?

Naw, this is America.  We like to complain.

Kid .... Perhaps the content for Amherst, Wittenberg and Illinois Wesleyan was provided or written by someone outside of D3hoops.  Perhaps Virginia Wesleyan's SID failed to contribute enough.  I don't know about that .....  Either way, the minimal coverage of the Marlins was disappointing, even to people like me who greatly appreciate all that's offered by D3hoops, particularly its audio and video coverage of the Final Four.

I really enjoyed listening to the audio coverage of the sectional at the beach last weekend.  I'm looking forward to being at the games in Salem tonight.  Go Marlins!!

Scottie,

LOL, I would expect others to say what you are saying and go "Ok, you are right."  But just because it comes from the biggest complainer and BS poster in the history of the internet in you, I will just giggle and move along.

Kid:
Fair enough.  You hit it on the head.  I was just reacting not at the lack of coverage, but the biggest difference between what was written about the three other teams and the lack of text about VWC and mention of Brandon Adair.   However, this was just a poor mans grubmling and I apologize.  Bottom line is, if they win none of it will matter.

All:
How come d3hoops doesn't consider Amherst or Wittenberg the favorites here when they are ranked higher than Ill. Wes?

VWC is in the Final Four. That means win two games and you win the National Championship. Every other team in the ODAC wishes they could be there, and all you're doing is complaining about how they don't get enough attention. I guarantee very few, if anyone, on the team is complaining about it right now. Besides, what you perceive as the lack of attention can be used as even more motivation for the team to prove to people why you think they deserve to get more attention.

FISHTANKFAN

If VWC wants attention, all they have to do is win tonight and they will get all the attention in the world.  The only thing the Marlins are thinking about right now is how to beat IWU. Find a way and enjoy the ride.  GOOD LUCK !!!!

Let me be the first to congratulate the Marlins for a great South Region win over IWU, first South Region team to make the finals since HSC in 1999.

Mr. Ypsi

Sincere congratulations to the Marlins.  I thought my Titans would win by double-digits, perhaps even by 20+.

Obviously I was mistaken.

Congratulations (damn it!). ;D

VW-16

Congrats to VWC. You can't bottle heart and that is what you guy's are all about.

mybleedinghands

Man oh man. Congrats to VWC! And to think we nearly beat these guys when they came to LC!

justafan02

I don't know how the hell we won that game, but Ill. Wesleyan is damn good.  Freeman and Eyanivich (sp) was Michael Jordan esq.  Tyler Fantin and Ton Ton w/ HUGE baskets and Brandon Adair is one of the top players in the country, bottom line.

I never thought I would see a team that could shoot 60% from the field, out rebound, out size and probably just as/if not more athletic than VWC fall to the Marlins.  Kudo's to Ill Wes.  extremely talented and classy bunch, just ran into a stubborn VWC team.  Go Marlins.....WOW.
