How about a photograph of him or his parent(s) as they sign the check made out to Guilford College! ;)
Hopefully, they won't publish any photographs of people crying.  With luck, we'll only see them checking the scoreboard when he hits a few winning baskets.   :)

dont go crazy now hasanova! im sure he's good and will be good but he hasnt proven anything at the collegiate level yet!

I rarely "go crazy," scottie,.  As a matter of fact, I am usually very cautious in my hopes for a winning team.  As a matter of fact, I believe the use of the words "hopefully" and "with luck" would indicate some guarded optimism on my part in this situation as well.  lol

OK maybe I'm dreaming. We lost one with 4 seconds to go at your place on the only basket that kid hit all day. We lost in OT at our place to R-M & by 1 at our place to HSC. With a little luck we  would have had 7 ODAC wins this year. Kushimo (arguably our most effiecient player) broke his foot in November and missed 9 games after New Years and played sparingly in the last 3. Since we're the only team in the ODAC with  everyone back (and a healthy Femi); I don't think I'm stretching to get to 10 wins. Go Gennies!

yeah, and LC had plenty of close games last year and nearly took down macon in the odac tournament, and look what we did this year.

That's right & you lost 4 of your top 6 producers & The Gennies bring it all back. They've got something to build on an you're looking to the freshmen and Vasilou?

W&L returns everyone from a team that was just simply competitive in about half their games, and in the other half they weren'te even in position to be able to win with 2 minutes left in the game. A lot of these players were also on the 2-23 team as well. They showed improvement last year obviously, but they still haven't shown they are capable of doing what it takes to even come close to winning 10 conference games.

Edit: W&L was 3-11 (21.4% winning percentage) is games Femi Kusimo played in; W&L is 1-8 (11.1%) in games without Femi (does anyone know why W&L didn't play 25 games?). Let's take out the games after he came back from injury: then W&L was 1-9 (10%) with him playing. The argument that W&L will be a lot more improved because of a healthy Femi Kusimo simply can't be supported (at least statistically). If Femi had played in all of W&L's games, then based on their winning percentage with him playing, W&L would have won 4.922 games. If W&L does happen to win 10 conference games this year, then feel free toi make a big deal about how I underestimated or never game them a chance or whatever you feel like saying.

One of our 2 best players is hurt all season and when he did play he operated at level well below where he should have been if healthy. Had he been at 100%  some of those tight ones might have fallen our way. As far as your superficial statistical analysis goes - 'there are lies, damn lies & statistics'

I hesitate to join in this conversation due to the last time I openly praised W&L they went 0-18 and the poster formerly known as "Denbow's Roomie" disappeared for months but here goes...
Scottie is a "stat freak" and too often does not look past those stats to the "blood and guts" of the matter. I prefer to look forward rather than backward. There are no stats available for next season, only a subjective analysis of W&L's "potential." With that said, I believe your optimism is justified. You have a fiercely dedicated and competitive coach who is intent on producing a basketball team that plays the game the way it supposed to be played and you have 3 players that are capable of taking over games in Halkitis, Kusimo and in my opinion, one of the finer players in the league, Bienemann. Sure...they might win 10 games but it's gonna be an incredibly tough league through the first 9 teams. Regardless of the number of wins, I fully expect W&L to be a "player" in next year's ODAC race. Now, if they go 0-18...please don't blame me!

I'll have you know, DenbowsRoomie is alive and well.  And still checking the postboard.  And hopefully posting a lot more in the build-up to this coming season.

First, lemme just say that I ran into former Genny notable Scottie Hetterman this past weekend at Foxfields.  Mr. Hetterman is doing quite well at Bill & Mary law, from what I know.  I also came across more recent Gennies, including Wes McAdams, Andrew Franklin and Matt Lawless.  I'm sure they all send their regards to the ODAC gurus.

On the topic of the Gennies, I obviously share the optimism of "baselinejam."  To start, this will be the first Gennies team to even have seniors since the days of Denbow and Jammin Hammil Jones.  And that has to count for something.  I have no idea if any current players are staying or going (hopefully staying) but the starting line-up of Halkitis, Goodman/Mumper, (the non-stater would likely be 6th man and provide scoring from the bench) Kusimo, Bienemann and White appears pretty solid.  IMHO, the Gennies are a low-post scorer away from top-4 ODAC contention.  As it stands, Femi is the best low-post scorer but ideally there would be a bigger forward with consistent back-to-the-basket touch.

I'm not sure about the recruits coming in either (is the kid from Chatham, NJ a low post guy?) but the existing roster IF HEALTHY looks formidable.  It's tempting to dismiss W&L because these same kids have lost the past 2 seasons, but the fact the same kids are still playing together (something that W&L hasn't had in god knows how long) is about the best sign we Gennies fans can hope for.

For my part, I hope to play a bigger role in this upcoming season.  Grad school classes and ultimate tourneys made it impossible for me to see the games save one, but hopefully I'll have more flexibility next year to make some trips to Lex and see the games in the Harrisonburg metro area.

Go Gennies.

PS - A "Roomie" farewell to Asst Coach Ryan Kadlubowski.  A cool dude who will be missed.

Xcoach - Thanks for  the encouraging words

Generally Tim - where is Kad headed?

How does what Bob Johnson is doing at EH differ from what Arsenault is doing at Grinnell?  Or does it differ?

well if i remember correctly (which there is a more than decent chance i'm remembering wrong), at the beginning of the season E&H looked to take the three first, but Coach Johnson tweaked the system a little and started looking more for layups than take the first semidecent look at the three, hence why they didn't score as much late in the season as they did early in the season.

pgcooz

The last five games, it looked like they were still scoring in the 90's and 100's... what about defensively?  Is it a true press, or is it complete gambling and willing to give up the deep pass and a layup?  Does he do five in, five out substitutions?  EH's numbers are intriguing... I've seen Grinnell play and am not a big fan, but am a fan of pressing defense and uptempo offense.  How would what they do compare to Grinnell?  To Mississippi College?  To UPS?
