just did a checkup on how kerry atkinson did at north carolina central this past season. played 18 of the team's 28 games, started 1 game, averaged 11 minutes and 4,2 points a game (apparently north carolina central thinks guilford is a community college).
This has been corrected.  It was just an inadvertent error since Guilford College was listed in NCCU's game programs.  I guess someone thought it was Guilford Technical and Community College (GTCC) which, by the way, is a huge school in Guilford (NC) County.  I wish Kerry had stayed with the Quakers, but I wish him luck with the Eagles.

Ah...good ole GTI..the new campus on Wendover looks really nice! Growing indeed :)

Hope everyone is having a nice Summer and staying cool!

Steely - I just got back from a golf trip to Banff Springs, Banff, Alberta, Canada. We had 80 degree weather and then on our trip back to Calgary to the airport we went through snow and hail! The golf in the Canadian Rockies among the herds of elk and other wildlife was both incredible and distracting, to say the least. Peter just got back from a trip to Asia with the Nationals - played in Guam, Japan, South Korea, and Hawaii. Trip was cut short because of the shananigans of North Korea. He's now looking for a basketball job overseas for the fall/winter. Basketball season is right around the corner boys! GO MARLINS!

Hey steely - hope you're doing well.  Yeah, the Jamestown campus was "bursting at the seams," so the Wendover facility was a nice addition for eastern Guilford County.  I won't be surprised if they don't also build something in the northwest up around Summerfield/Oak Ridge/Stokesdale - that area is growing really fast!

I saw in the local paper today, The News-Gazette, that Parry McCluer's Adam Gilbert has decided he will continue his basketball career at guilford next season. Granted I know that his accomplishments in high school mean nothing at the college level but, he left Parry McCluer as the career leader in assist and points scored. He recently played in the VHSCA  all-star game in hampton. I could go on with the awards he has accumulated over the past four years but I won't. Again I know these stats mean nothing at the college level, all I am saying is Guilford is getting a good ball player. Adam if your out there anywhere I would just like to say thank you for the past four years, I have enjoyed watching you play and the best of luck at Guilford. :)

Debbie - Glad to hear Adam is going to Guilford.  He sounds like a fine player.  For what it's worth, it's OK to identify yourself and tell everyone he's related to you.  There are lots of proud parents, siblings and other relatives posting on this board.  Go Quakers!

Thanks, I appreciate that and yes I am very proud of my cousin I hope he does well. But folks I would appreciate it if you would not send me e-mails unless its an emergency... lol ... sorry. So yeah... Go Quakers! :)

He's a great representative of the ODAC and we're damned proud of him.

hasanova...yeah the area up 68 is growing like crazy through Oak Ridge up the road to Stokesdale. Was though there about a month ago...nice area...sounds like the Quakers are filling the basket very nicely with recruits. Can't believe hoops crank up in less than what, 12 weeks? Sheesh..time does get faster the older you get...

Yeah, I'm excited about the 2006-07 season.  Strong should be a force and Kimbrough, Snipes and most others are back.  I've heard of four recruits so far - Sherrick Warren out of Fayetteville's E.E. Smith HS, Brandon Johnson out of Bassett, VA (he's going to play football as well), Justin Strickland out of East Davidson HS (had a phenomenal prep career with around 2300 points) and Adam Gilbert from Buena Vista, Virginia's Parry McCluer HS who was mentioned above.  I'm looking for a breakthrough season - maybe 20 wins? - hope so!
