For those of you who remember former Guilford basketball great World B. (Lloyd) Free:

Take it from someone who watched him in person, he was a super player!

Lloyd (World) never met a shot he didn't like (or take) ;), but if you wanted to be entertained by one fine baller...there were few better. Glad to see life after hoops has been good to him.

Maybe someone can put World in touch with Maurice Clarett...sheesh what a waste!

You're right, Lloyd was not shy about launching the ball.  What would his average have been if he played college ball in the 3-point era?  Several former Quakers have done well.  M. L. Carr, for one, is very successful in the Boston area and is also part owner of the Charlotte Bobcats.

As for Mr. Clarett, there seems to be no end to how low he can go.  Bobby Knight is an alumnus of The Ohio State University.  Why not give him a shot at Maurice?  Of course, Maurice would need to go through a metal detector.  In his most recent episode, it sounds as though he was going to take a shot at someone!

hasanova...yep, Bob Kaufman was very successful as an exec in the Milwaukee (which means the good land!)Bucks organization if memory serves, among others. Man was he strong around the cup as a player. I was put to the floor more than once from the big fella. And of course the voice of the Quakers (man the name escapes me) was a top exec with the Denver Nuggets...still remember "...my gosh Oskosh..." like it was yesterday!

Scottie..my hat's off to you! You've worked hard all Summer to get that karma down from the low to mid minus 50's to less than -10. Good work! Just in time for hoops to crank back up and watch the gauge possibly rise again (j/k)! Are the Hornets staring #21 right in the face this year?

steelyglen - Bob Kauffman was indeed a successful NBA executive after a great  playing career at Guilford and in the NBA.  I also think he was with the Atlanta Hawks in a front office role.   As far as the announcer is concerned, I'm sure you're referring to Carl Scheer.

Maurice Clarett would have been better off transferring to Grambling State after his freshman year rather than trying to go to the NFL.  He is just a product of another young man getting bad advice. SAD SAD...

As the Apple ad says "I think you're using touche incorrectly"?

"Used in conversation/debate to concede a point as true". To have a concession the NJLion would have had to make his own point to then concede to your point. Now a  comment of "touche" would be appropriate from you. Ain't semantics a wonderful thing?

Steely...Scottie will be an infrequent poster at best from this point on as he begins an internship in the SID's office. His absence will be welcome to many but certainly will leave a void in the "stirring things up" department. I trust someone will step up and keep this ODAC board controversial as well as simply informative.
I, too, must wish you all adieu, as I will be dropping the "X" from my moniker in the upcoming weeks. I have been away from coaching for 2 years now and I need a "fix" of high blood pressure, panic anxiety, insomnia, et al. Additionally, I really need to give my regular group of golfing mates an opportunity to save up some $$$ over the winter as I have feasted off them since the purchase of my new Ping "Ug-Lee" putter! You really can buy a game!
I am hoping that very soon the "regulars" will begin to appear with their preseason prognostications but lacking any so far, I will attempt an answer to your query of Scottie about LC. I think it is obvious that LC certainly has the longest way to go this season and their success will depend on how talented the incoming freshman class will be and how quickly they can make the transition to college basketball. With the talent in the ODAC this year, even a superb effort by LC newcomers might not be enough but Jeez...that's why they tip it off and we love it isn't it?
Anyway...may your teams play well and may you all remain healthy and obnoxiously opinionated throughout the upcoming season. Perhaps we'll run into each other in some musty, dank, gym this season!

Wilburt:

I concur with your view of the Maurice Clarett situation.   Does this post satisfy your grammatical urges baslinejam?
