justafan02,
So Adair went 14-17, but who did they play?

It would be nice to know who Mr. Adair lit up.

The Italian Team that GC played was the Italian u-18 team.

Thought you Guilford honks might get a kick out this. In NC Central's 102-42 loss to No. 1 Duke last night, former Quaker standout Kerry Atkinson did not start but had the following line:
22 minutes played (4th highest on the team)
5 points on 2-6 FG's
no three's attempted
1-3 from the FT line
2 rebounds and a steal
no turnovers

Quite a 9 month turnaround, going from a middle tier D3 program ( no goof intended) and playing Altlanta Bible College to playing for a middlle tier D2 program and playing in Duke University's Cameron Indoor Stadium against the best team in all of college basketball (or so the pre-season guru's say!)

Here's good luck to Kerry! Just another indication to me that our ODAC kids can play with AND AGAINST anyone in the country!

By the way. Bridgewater gets things started next Tuesday with a D1 exhibition of their own.  "Bridgewater College will tip off its men's basketball season Tuesday, Nov. 15 with an exhibition game at James Madison University against the Division I Dukes.
Game time is 7 p.m. and the public will be admitted free. The game will also be broadcast on WSVA radio (550 AM). "  This from the BC athletics web page! We're talking 107 hours now, not days and weeks...tick tock tick tock!

My question for Steve Cox if he is looking in on our converstaion this morning...will the game be up on the internet?

Another exhibition game coming up tomorrow night

LEXINGTON, Va. -- Washington and Lee and VMI will meet on the basketball hardwood on Saturday evening for an exhibition contest. The game will be played at VMI's Cameron Hall at 7:00 pm.

Admission for the contest will be $1.00 or free admission with a canned food good. Proceeds from the contest will be given back to the Lexington community and will be split evenly between the Rockbridge Area Recreation Organization (RARO) and the Rockbridge Food Pantry.

Yeah, I wish him well, too.  Tough to turn down a DII full ride I guess when you have to pay your way at DIII.  He's from the Triangle area, so he might have also gotten some pressure from family to play closer to home.  C'est la vie ...

steelyglen -

I told you about my nephew who was heavily recruited  by Bridgewater and now plays for the NAIA DII Montreat (NC) Cavaliers.   Well, they upset NCAA DI UNC-Asheville last night 65-62 on the Bulldogs' home court.  My brother called me last night and was "sky high."  lol

W&L got beat up by VMI. You can read about it at:
http://www.vmikeydets.com/article.asp?articleid=74154
They left at least 1 W&L player out of  the box score, so I'm not certain how accurate it is.

Despite the loss, Greg Bieneman put up 24 on the Keydets.  With Greg, Femi and Halkitis, the Generals should definitely be able to score points.  It's the defense and the ability to play tough for 40 minutes that I think will determine how far this team goes.

Thats really good to hear about Kerry, i know he'll be successful at Central, i mean they will never ever again play atime as talented or Duke. by the way i hate to say that because i am a die hard Tarheel fan. i am brassing myslef for a 500 season. and just so yo all know, i was a tarheel fan back in the Capel. Lang, Forte days...before that even, i just didn't want to miss spell Okalija, i know thats wrong. as far as Duke goes, one of the kids i will be coaching at this season over at Page High School has a brother who walked on a Duke, so he can't start for me...lol!!!

back to Guilford, they go down to Daytona beach for their first couple of games, this week i believe, so i wish them all the luck in the world, and Belkowski will be out for a little while, he twisted his ankle pretty badly. anyone who come to GC this year will see the biggest cheerleader in the world there...lol, see y'all!!!

mr_divac...just can't get used to that moniker big fella...Page High School,eh? My old stomping grounds. I played for Mac Morris there a thousand years ago. One of the great high school coaches and people to ever be part of the game. Do my Pirates proud...you gotta love being part of the red & white, eh Tarheel fan? ;D

anyone want to do the pick 'em thing this year? just wondering..

anyone have any reports on the virginia wesleyan blue-white game?

jdubyadubya

By the way, in the "Games to Watch" category, how about the upcoming games at the Batten Center with VWC taking on Trinity U of TX(25 - 7 last year) and NC Weslyan(supposedly much improved over last year). I do not know how the B/W game went at VWC but I can tell you VWC won! I've been gone for a week but I haven't heard much talk about the other teams -- just Roanoke. What's that all about?

jeloesel

JWW,
A couple kids decided to move on to other things.  Page decided that two others didn't have a place on the team.   I commend Page for doing the right thing.  The Maroons will be a better team for it.
