From the depths of Tigerland:  I played the new golf course located just outside of H-S with Sniper yesterday.  Lovely championship quality course - huge upgrade for the area.  However, it is extremely difficult.  Next time I play, I'm leaving the Pro V1's at home and hitting the Wal-Mart for a bunch of Top Flites.  If you want a challenging round next time you're in the area, give it a try.  Very reasonable fee, but bring lots of ammo.

Lots of excitement re: basketball at H-S.  Great to have Chad Warner back, plus another coach joining the staff.  Newcomers are supposed to be good, and all the major players from last year are back.  Tiger Roundball club is having a banquet in Richmond this Friday to kick things off.

tigerfan....nice to see you guys still fogging a mirror up in the hearltand.  IS justice still being served in your neck of the woods? How was youth basebell season. Missed the updates ! Drop me an e-mail sometime and bring me up to speed. Next time you see Sniper ask him if has any eligibility left?

Hoop practice cranks up on Sunday!

My Gennies will be deeper and healthy & everyone is back. For the first time in the past 2 years they won't have to rely on freshmen. That being said there are a couple freshman that should be able to contribute. Intersting trivia - 3 Generals from Chatham,  New Jersey.

You guys are awfully quiet & practice starts tomorrow.

HSC has 3 incoming freshman that should have a chance to have immediate impact. Medlin, Kittrell, and King. Medlin and Kittrell play 4 & 5 respectively and King is a athletic 2 or 3. Man, I can't wait for the season and it's upon us now!

Oh Steely!

Pack collapse against Great Forest!  :o

Must have been a fun one to watch. Go Deacs!

baselinejam...tip of the ole cap to Weak Forest... You just can't draw up a 20 yard fumble in the wrong direction and then give up a 65 yard touchdown pass after the safety...all in the last 90 seconds of the first half. Plus two 53 yard field goals...oh well...just as Jim Grobe drew it up!

But hey...the Deacs got it done and we did not...Despite every break in the world we had a shot on the final drive...Evans tried to throw one away and it sailed on him...just as Jim Grobe drew it up!

Onto College Park and Charlottesville in the next 2 weeks...Our season will be made right here!

Grobe was using the same playbook Clemson used the week before. Hopefully the Pack will do itself proud in the coming weeks.

I had a short conversation with Guilford Coach Palombo yesterday.  First the good news:  the Quakers will be good this year and probably better than last season.  Now the bad news:  so will everyone else in the ODAC!  Let the games begin!  :)

Anyone have any info on VWC's new faces?  According to the local paper, Coach Macedo is making cuts today.  I believe they said that he has 22 kids competing for 16 spots on the team.

Oldfish - Funny thing this year, there have been no releases on incoming players. If you look at the roster, there are a bunch of new kids listed but who knows? They all have HS reputations, but that's HS! As we all know, there's a huge jump from high school to college ball. Macedo has been real close-mouthed this year so far. It will be fun to see who rises to the top.

The Tigers' roster is up.  It includes 4 of the 5 starters from last year, plus returnees Murray, Laakso, Lawton, Robertson, and Phillips.  Forrester (SR) and Szuch (JR) are not returning.  On top of the returning 9 players, there are 2 sophomore transfers and 6 freshmen.  The roster is at http://www2.hsc.edu/athletics/basketball/2006_07/roster.html

Haven't heard much about the Emory & Henry practices thus far.  Hopefully someone can fill me in soon on this board.  Season looks promising as the Wasps return a lot of guys from a team that finished 11-3 last year.  Seniors this year are Danny Cantone, Anthony Hairston, Hansel Newman, Hank Luton, Korey Townsend, and Lance Reasback.  Reasback will be back after first semester.  Other key returners include Antonio Leary, Camillo Weinz, and Andrew Hart.  Should be fun.

Macedo has his roster up - 18 players, six freshmen, 2 guys 6'8" and 6'10," everybody's back except graduates Fitch and Towell. Should be another awesome year for the Fish.

Wow it definitely looks like Virginia Wesleyan is the team to beat in the ODAC if not the nation with all the guys that they bring back.  jdubyadubya, how does the loss of fitch affect this years team.  I know the team lost Peter Warren the previous year and started off slowly before going on their run...another similar situation here?

Id say right behind VWC would be Hampden-Sydney, Guilford, Emory, and Randolph-Macon.  I know a lot of people seem to think that Randolph-Macon is year in and year out in the top 2 spots, but I think they have their work cut out for them this year.  They have a great coach so he should earn his paycheck this year.  Looks like the ODAC is top heavy to me with these being the top teams...a definite cut above the middle of pack teams of Roanoke, Eastern Mennonite, and Bridgewater with Washington and Lee and Lynchburg pulling up the rear.  Any thoughts???
