FYI if you cant make it to the CNU/RMC game tonight, go to http://athletics.cnu.edu and they have a link up for live stats and the internet broadcast.

You are the MAN.  Thanks for that link!!

Anytime sir! Glad I could be of assistance to you.

Ill give you a little insight into the Captains. They have a solid group of six players and are a little thin on the bench.

PG: Barton, a sophomore, runs the team, and had back to back double-doubles this past weekend. He can shoot from the outside or create scoring opportunities off the dribble and he's not afraid to catch the defense sleeping and drive coast to coast. He's averaging 20 points, shooting 50% from the field, 46% from long range and 86% from the line.

SG: Selden, a senior, and the heart of the team. He sank three FTs in the championship of the USA South tournament last year to force OT. Averaging 15, shooting 40% from the floor, 50% from downtown and 93% from the line.

SF: Riley, a senior, vocal and emotional player. Averaging 7 ppg and 6 rpg. He's better on the blocks than he is from outside 12 feet. More of a banger, rough and tough SF.

PF: Lewis, another senior. Quiet player, can score at will when he wants too. Tends to shoot alot of 5-10 foot fade-aways. But when he's on, he's usually unstoppable. Averaging 17 ppg and 7 rpg. Shooting 56% from the field and 86% from the line.

C: Blasingame, finished in the top 10 in blocks/game last year. He knows how to rebound, he know's how to score and he know's how to create scoring opportunities for the rest of the team. At 6-8, he can plug some holes and force the opposing player to change his shot.

Off the bench. The main man is Theo Baker, a frosh, g/f. Averaging 12 pp, shooting 49% from the field and is a threat to score from the outside. A very exciting young player to watch. Also, Ron Spears has some potential as does Justin Kraut. Both can come in and give some good minutes.

Appreciate the intell on the CNU players as well.  We're deep in the second half as I write this, and it's been a slugfest.

R-M drops one to CNU, 84-77.  'Twas a stormy one.  CNU led by 10 at one point early, and R-M led by as much as 8 in the second half.  It was a foul contest towards the end, with CNU making the shots, and R-M. . . not. :P

Congrats to the Captains, though.  Good game.

And thanks to RTT for the link (again). 8)

Anytime jacketlawyer. I happend to stumble across the CNU athletics site today when I was looking to see if Barton was the POW in the conference and I noticed it was up and thought I would post info for all you RMC fans who were unable to make the game.

Now that Im home, Ive had a lil time to digest this one. What a battle, two great teams with a lot of potential. Ive noticed that RMC really has about an average inside game. They did score 34 points in the paint, but I thought they could have dont a little better of a job by getting the ball down low more to No. 25, No. 33 and 34. Instead they relied a little too much on the three-point shot tonight. But I really cant be positive because I really do not know much about what kind of system they run there. They have some great athletes who are super quick with and without the ball. The reason I say take the ball down low more is because I thought they could have gotten the Capts in a lot more foul trouble than they were in. You get three and four on one or two of the post players and it very well could be over at that point.

As for CNU, I would be interested to see if any of the RMC posters made the game tonight and what their opinions are on the Capts. I think Davon Barton will be something special for CNU as he has the ability to create opportunities whenever he has the ball. Three double-doubles in a row for him. I really am at a loss for words on how well this kid controls a game. Its been a long time since CNU has had a PG who can score at will and dish out 8-11 assists per game. Not since Steve Artis and Andre Bolton.

Anywho, good luck to the Jackets the rest of the way!

RMC is probably the best passing team I've seen in awhile. They don't give up either. Looks like a good year for them again!

Anybody know when Guilford comes to HSC ? I've heard great things about the Quaker team and would like to see them play. The ODAC is going to be very interesting this year. Can't wait to get league play started. Good luck to all. Hopefully the winner will carrier the banner as well as VWC did last year.

The Quakers and Tigers play in the Fleet Center at 7 pm on Dec. 6, so only a week away.  Hopefully, Guilford won't get blown out on the road like last year.  I'm looking forward to seeing the Quakers at the Coliseum tonight versus Greensboro and against Lynchburg in Ragan-Brown on Saturday.  I really wish Guilford could play at HSC on the weekend some years instead of always playing on Wednesday night.  It's too hard to make the trip during the week when I have to work.  Peace

Your comments are appreciated, CNU85, as well as RTT's report on the game.  It's a long haul from Lynchburg to get down there to the game!

I enjoy the rivalry between CNU and R-M.  It's a natural one, due to the proximity of the schools as well as one I hope will continue to develop.  Hopefully, R-M learned a few things last night that they can use to improve as the season progresses! ;D

That's a game I'd go to see, but cannot do it!!  Eyeing Guilford warily this year, as well as Hampden-Sydney (every year!!). . .  8)

Good morning, Jacketlawyer.  I'd love to go to that game also, but it's just too much on a Wednesday night.  Looking forward to when Guilford and RMC tip-off in Ashland and in Greensboro.  I hope you're still able to come to the game at Guilford on Jan. 27.  That's the weekend RMC and VWC flip-flop at GC and E&H, so we get the Marlins on the 28th and your Jackets have to play the Wasps in Emory.

I still plan to hoof it down to G'boro for the Jackets and Quakes.  G'boro is roughly an hour-and-a-half, and it's an easy drive down 29.

I'd love to see the match-up between H-S and Guilford, specifically the show-down between Kaase and Strong.  Should be very good stuff.   Fleet will be a tough place to play.

We need to catch up....I think CNU record vs RMC is 3-13.....but I think we've won the last 2....RTT will know!

Excellent!  Yeah, Lynchburg to Greensboro isn't a bad drive.  Contact me later as we get closer to Jan. 27 and I'll give you some more precise directions and we'll work out the details.  I'd love to see that Kaase and Strong match-up as well.  In fact, I am looking forward to seeing all of Ben's games this year, but especially in the ODAC.  And you're right, Fleet is very tough - we got smoked there last year and just never seemed to be "in" the game.  I'm hoping it'll be better this time around!
