Jacketlawyer,
Indeed a bitter loss for your jackets. I got to the game just after 1st half Royals up by about 5 they maintained that margin until about the 10 minute mark when RMC began to get a hand full or calls, got the momentum and began to hit some outside shots. tied at the end of regulation, a desperation 2/3 court shot by macon went in but was waved off as the buzzer had started prior to the shot. I was relieved that there were no monitors to review though I believe the call was correct. The OT was very competetive with a few lead changes Sager and Parks made a couple of outstanding drives to score in traffic. It was sure nice to see the Royals figure out how to win one down the stretch rather than fritter away a lead.

Jacket Lawyer-we sure did lose in overtime. Had several opportunities to put the game away, but a turnover here, missed free throw there, Jeremy Dixon out with back problem and EMU making some tough shots while being well defended down the strecth adds up to a Royals victory.

We are still searching for the chemistry in order to gel and I did see some very positive contributions from Loren Sisson and Boris Varela off the bench. And once David Carlson stops acting like a child (sitting alone at the end of the bench and not participating in a time-out huddle for whatever reason, unheard of for a Randolph Macon player!) and becomes a man and decides to play defense even when his shots are not falling...well, just look out. Coach Rhoades will have these guys back on the winning track.

Can't wait for our upcoming tournament.

Thanks for the analysis of the game, xbcdad and yj424.  I really appreciate it. ;)  You both get karma points when I am "recharged!"

"In Rhoades I Trust"  I think he'll get the chemistry problems taken care of before the upcoming tournament.  However, injury problems concern me.  If Dixon is out with an injury, and Hawley is still less than 100%, then we're using the bench which seems a little thin for this year. :-X

Anyway. . . . still too early in the season to know anything for sure.  Maybe it's good these problems are manifesting now instead of later.

GO JACKETS.

ah...welcome to conference play guru's! This is where we separate the men from the boys! I guess my plunge to the bottom (4-5) of the heap indicates puberty must further away than I originally thought ::). jaydubyadubya and justafan02 each sported 7-2 marks to take to the weekly honors. dub's good week sent him back into a first place tie with algernon (5-4). jimmy started pickin' with his head and not his heart and led 5 guru's who had a 6-3 week. Hasanova- Even if you have stopped posting for a while, hopefully you will still read the nice things that the majority of the people have to say.  It was good to see you at the game yesterday, I will be out of town for the Quakers next home game against Shennandoah, but will be back soon.  Have a good holiday if I dont see you before our break.

baselinejam

Sorry to hear Hasanova is on a break. If you have a 70 somthin' karma # then obviously most folks like what you have to say. I think mine is currently hovering around zero - which basically means I annoy the exact same # of people as those that enjoy my remarks. That certainly hasn't kept me off the forum. Take the little bad with mostly good and come back soon.

Tuesday, December 12
Hampden-Sydney at NC Wesleyan
I give kudos to H-SC for venturing out of Virginia.

Saturday, December 16
Eastern Mennonite at Bridgewater
I'm voting my head, not my heart on this one, Steelyglen.

Virginia Wesleyan at Apprentice School
Newport News Apprentice has the better SID, but not the better team.

Sunday, December 17
Methodist at Randolph-Macon
At some point Rhoades will stop the bleeding, but will it be this game?

Bonus Games on Saturday December 16
Frostburg State at Christopher Newport
But Frostburg has the better cross country course.

Mary Washington at Shenandoah
Winchester is good, but Fredricksburg is the better tourist attraction.

Chicago at Illinois Wesleyan
ILW is weighted down by the support of Mr. Ypsi, AND Chicago has the superior team nickname.

steelyglen

jimmy...as long as I have to look UP in the standings to see you I can't say much about how you "pick'em"...

HSC v. NC Wesleyan  (NC Wesleyan) Jim...just BARELY out of Virginia Its a longer drive to VIRGINIA Wesleyan

EMU v. Bridgewater (Bridgewater) EMU 's record in Nininger Hall against the Eagles is what over the last 10 years? Your head must be hurting Jim!

Virginia Wesleyan v. NNA (Va. Wesleyan) the Marlins are starting to come together nicely.

Methodist V. Randy-Mac  (Randy Mac) Coach Rhoades starts putting some sting back into the Jackets right here.

Frostburg St. v. CNU  (CNU) the first opponent of a certain former ODAC POY
(Frostburg lost that night too)

Mary Washington v. Shenendoah (Shenendoah) tails... Shenendoah wins!

Chicago v. Illinois Wesleyan  (Illionois Wesleyan) its a Wesleyan tri-fecta this week!

Week #5

NC Wesleyan

Virginia Wesleyan College

Mary Washington
Illinois Wesleyan

Very disappointing how HSC played Saturday. The best team won, but HSC never gets blown out at Fleet. HSC faced a very athletic team and instead of slowing down, controlling the tempo, making every trip down the floor count; HSC attempted to play VWC at their pace... an absolute receipt for what they got. Until  HSC learns how to control the tempo, play better defense and learns how to rebound, they will continue to slide into the middle of the pack. They have time to regroup. I hope they are able to make the needed adjustments!!!

VWC is a very, very good team. They should/could make another run deep into the National tourny again this year. Guilford has a shot at them but Guilford must play their best game to beat them.

jdubyadubya

To My Fellow Poster Hasanova: I think it's absolutely absurd that someone is so low that it has forced you off the board. It' absolutely ridiculous for someone to act that way, petty I think you call it. Come back soon. PS. The Sunday Washington Post Magazine crossword puzzle had this clue..."vintage Chevrolet." the answer was "Nova," so I figure that's some sort of weird sign that you should begin again.   :)
