Agreed Guilford does have a tough stretch but I feel as if they are the favorites in two of those games.  Winning one out of other two would prove crucial.  I would not go as far as to say Lynchburg is a "bad" opponents as algernon has implied...they have beaten Macon, and look very good to me, just a little young.  But nevertheless the next four games for Guilford will hopefully show that they are truly legit...but we will see.

Personally, I think it's the Year of the Quakes.  . . . ;)

Hey jacketlawyer, thanks for the endorsement, but these impending head-to-head games will tell the tale.  I hope you're right!  :)  Up to now, I think it's been at least the "Month of the Quakes .... "  :)

You're right, Brian, VWC does have the one loss to Averett.

I agree that Guilford is the favorite against Methodist and RMC, even on the opponents' courts.

I didn't mean to imply that Lynchburg is a "bad" opponent .... just meaning that they aren't yet in the category of "good" in my mind.  (At present, I think of Lynchburg as "midrange" or "good enough".)  I'm quite impressed with what the Hornets have done so far, although it's not yet clear how big a win against RMC is this year.  Will the Yellow Jackets go on to finish 2nd or 3rd in the ODAC or will they end up at 4th or 5th?

I don't know if there's a Strength of Schedule or similar listing somewhere, but that sort of listing would be interesting.

My look at HSC and its historically main rival, RMC, indicates that HSC's 4 D3 wins are against teams with a combined 21-16 record and the Tigers' 3 D3 losses are against teams with a combined 23-1 (!) record, whereas RMC's 5 D3 wins are against teams with a combined 12-25 record and the Yellow Jackets' 4 D3 losses are against teams with a combined 16-14 record.

This isn't to say anything about the relative strength of the Tigers and Yellow Jackets or who will win the next game between the 2 teams (although it would be wonderful for the Tigers to finally win one, after 6 straight losses).  We won't know about that until the two teams play in January.  However, at this point in the season, I think that a Strength of Schedule index would have the Tigers above the Yellow Jackets.  The first few weeks of January should be very interesting.

Agreed!!  If not fascinating!!

Jackets have another tournament at home and it'll be interesting to see what they'll do.

Bridgewater's website indicates they dropped 2 close ones in Las Vegas -- to Marietta and Olivet.  Both games were VERY close.

Best wishes for a happy and restful holiday to all!

Thanks for the link.  Interesting.  Karma for you!

I know I haven't posted much in the past 2 years but I'm really trying to get a sense of what people think of W&L's team this year.  Early returns suggest a much improved squad that could easily compete for the 6th seed in the ODAC, potentially higher.  Has anyone seen them yet?  What are your thoughts?

Guru's...time is short today and I will try and post the updated standings in few days. Everyone went 1-1 this week...all got Guilford and all missed Bridgewater ($#%$*#$(*)% it), so no shuffling of seeds!

Happy Holidays to everyone. This is the greatest time of the year and we're all very fortunate to have some of our most important worries be whether our favorite team won or lost. Remember our troops in your Holiday prayers and I wish 2007 be the best year ever for every guru reading today! I am out til after Christmas!
