We will see how tough the Marlins really are in the next couple days.  They have a very strong Methodist team to play at Methodist and have to play a very worthy and proven national contender in Guilford on Sunday.

I trust that Macedo and company's practices will not be "fun" over the next few days.
Those are indeed going to be two tough games this week for the Marlins.  Also, don't forget about E&H coming to VWC on Saturday.  With their offensive style, the Wasps are always a threat.  Guilford and E&H both travel this coming weekend and trade opponents at RMC and VWC on Saturday and Sunday, the 6th and 7th.  A lot of interesting games to watch within - and between - the USASAC and ODAC this week.

I believe VWC plays E&H on Saturday not EMU.

Anyone know why Adair didn't play against HSU?  Will he be back soon?

I heard it was disciplinary reasons.  Watch out though, because when Macedo and the coaching staff did this last year (although it was Balenga instead of Adair) we all know the reaction the Marlins took on their opponents.

This is another reason why Macedo and his coaching staff have been so successful over the years.  It doesn't matter if you are a role player or the National Player of the Year.  If you don't do what your supposed to do or act out, there are consequences dished out no matter what the outcome may be.  You have to respect that.

jdubyadubya

Disciplinary? I heard it was illness.

Yes, E&H is correct.  Someone said it might have been a typo in an ODAC schedule.  An easy mistake to make when both start with E.  :)  Either way, it'll be a great week!

oh, great...just what the monarchs need...a ticked off national poty after having to deal with ben strong :)

i hope macedo ran those boys to the point of exhaustion after the loss last week and that they still haven't recovered...probably the only chance the monarchs have of pulling the upset

Final from Danville:  Guilford 74, Averett 69.  The Quakers move to 9-0 and the 12th ranked Cougars fall to 9-1.  It was a back and forth affair that was an exciting game throughout.

Unofficially, Snipes 22, Strong 19 (17 in 2nd half), Burge 10, Henson 6, Belkoski & Neville 5, Kimbrough 3, Strickland & Sanborn 2.  Three Cougars in double figures: Boor 16, Hagwood 15 & Frazier 10.

Are the Quakers pushing the Top 25 with this win?  Nice road win for sure against a very good Averett team.  Whew!

I listened to the Gilford/Averett game.   Congratulations to Gilford.   Well done...Ought to be a battle when they visit the Marlins this weekend.  Can't wait to see that game.   Actually the whole week will be exciting for the ODAC and division lll basketball.   Good luck to all the teams, especially  my Marlins!

Thanks, FISHTANKFAN.  I'm a little worried that Guilford missed so many front ends on one and one FT attempts at the end of the game, but other than that a very solid effort.  I wish I could make the trip to RMC and/or VWC, but just too much to do.  I'll be listening.  I agree wholeheartedly, a great week shaping up for the ODAC, USASAC and DIII hoops!

They may be, but the poll ballots (some are late) were due at 3 p.m. today through games of Jan. 1, so it will be a wait.

Thanks, Pat.  I figured this game was too late to affect this week's poll.

I was most impressed with the way Guilford (even the coach, would you believe it?!) kept their cool under what seemed like adverse officiating.  The attitude was "win it anyway", which was just right.  And again, whenever someone was down, someone else picked it up and carried the game.  This team is really a pleasure to watch.

marlins 84- monarchs 49 - adair is a beast, ton ton is the real deal, vwc is incredibly athletic, and they obviously took out a little post-texas aggression on the monarchs...wow

FISHTANKFAN

Looks like the Marlins played with some intensity today...Maybe Coach Macedo inspired them with a little pep talk........I hope they can carry it over to the weekend.  WTG marlins...back on track...stay there!!!!..  Anxious  to see the box score on this game .   I Hope a lot of fans turn out  this weekend.. should be great match-ups against two really good teams.   Again...Nice win Marlins!
