http://www.lynchburg.edu/athletics/sports/basketball_m/2005-06%20stats/LCCSIM.HTM box score for hte C game. Offensive woes were taken care of for this game apparently. Defense was a lacking apparently, but other than being able to watch the game last night, we knew nothing about them because they didn't even have their roster available on their website until this morning. No excuse I know, but i Imagine it would ahve helped if we could have developed some type of scouting report...

alright.  so bridgewater played...well...HORRIBLE this weekend.  It was hard watching the guys play the past two nights.  There was little to no intensity on the court.  It seemed as though no one wanted to take the initiative to be the star of the game.  Bridgewater has been long used to have their all-star player  carry the team.  They really do have a lot of talent, just none of the talent is used to stepping up and showcasing their skills.  Too many of the players are use dto being the support players.

As to my comment which created a little bit of a stir, yes...i was talking about Bridgewater's Athletic Teams as a whole...and yes...they do get more coverage for their athletics as a whole in the DNR and on the news stations...regardless of what other news they may recieve.  This is something I'd like to see ladyfan even try to argue.

anyway...it's time to celebrate a football victory and forget about a basketball loss and instead look forward to their next win.    :P
If the NBA were on channel 5 and a bunch of frogs making love was on channel 4, I'd watch the frogs even if they were coming in fuzzy.  ~Bobby Knight

EMU down by 13 at the half vs Southern VA.  EMU is 4-11 from the free throw line and has 12 first half TO's.  Hopefully EMU can turn it on in the second half against a team that lost to NNA last night in OT.

mybleedinghands

EMU getting handled by SVA?! What has this world come to?! Is EMU palying really bad or is SVA making them play bad?! I remember them being pretty bad last year when we played them!

emufan

Scottie,

Remember... this is NOT last year.  Teams bring in new players and Southern VA had 6 players who were gone last year who were doing some sort of mission work for the church.  These were six contributing members.  EMU has now cut the lead to three with 10 minutes left in the game.

emufan, no really, this isn't last year? thanks for telling me that. and yes i know that teams bring in new players. thanks for being captain obvious today.

emufan

I will update the game in the up date board.

Scottie,

I had to man, you have been posting about last year several times. I have to bring you back to reality.

EMU comes back from 17 down to win by three points against Southern VA.

SV had three chances to tie it with less than 10 seconds and missed all three.

Sager 26
Whiting 13
Parkes 14
Arrington 13

Scottie, I left you a little message in the update board.

Well after EMU's come from behind win, i can now relax... Yes, So. VA brought some kids back, but also this was their 7th game of the season already, this helps tremendously. But none the less, EMU found a way to win  on the road in a cracker jacks box gym....But, they play Shenandoah on Tues, who lost today in their own tournament. Hope EMU plays better on Tues, I think the guys needed to be tested after the blow out of MWC, this will bring them back down and hopefully focus more now!
Whiting had 14, along with parkes.

Roanoke gets a huge win against Springfield tonight, 71-69.  Springfield was 22-7 last year and brought back most of their team.  Roanoke had a 13 point lead but had to scramble at the end to pull out the win.  Shrader and Butler both had 18 for the Maroons.  More to follow.

W&L struggled offensively and lost to a "replenished" Southwestern today.  Three of the Pirate's best players did not play yesterday due to a suspension for violating a drinking policy last season.  So W&L had to deal with the full Southwestern squad that did not play on Friday.

I was able to check out the game and here are my observations...

W&L is really struggling to rebound.  It seems like anytime a shot went up, the taller Southwestern team was a given for the rebound.  The Generals will likely rely on a smaller line-up through-out the year and rebounding will definitely be an issue.

Turnovers.  Just too many.

Shooting.  Chris Halkitis shot the ball well.  Mumper and the new kid Isiah Goodman will also add some solid touch from the outside.  I definitely felt the tingle tonight of seeing the ball passed to Chris and knowing he would immediately swish the trey.  I hope that is a consistent element this year.

Defense.  W&L really buckled down and held Southwestern to only 2 points for about the opening 7 minutes of the 2nd half.  This team is capable of good defense, and it helped in this game to make things more competitive when W&L fell behind from a lack of scoring.

Not a horrible showing from W&L for this tournament.  I know people aren't expecting a lot from this team considering last year's disappointing season.  But W&L is certainly not an also-ran...the Generals will make some noise this year.

Meanwhile...

E&H defeats Southern Vermont 139-122 and set several records. E&H ties national record with their 86 3-point attempts. E&H sets school records with 29 3-pointers made and 139 points scored. The 29 3-pointers fell just 3-shy of tying the national record and the 139 points fell 1 point shy of the ODAC record. Both teams fell just 8 rebounds short of the national record for combined rebounds in a game of 124.

Johnsonball is going to get wilder and wilder as the Wasps learn how to play it.

the offensive performance was beyond horrible in that game! not indicativge of the normal performance because Andy rarely ever turns the ball over 7 times and Sweeney is a 40% shooter.

In the second game of the season, Andy turned it over 6 times and Sweeney only shot 12.5%.
