Yes.  Maybe Swickrath changed the rules this season.

Scott's not a manager any more; he's a student assistant and, as such, a member of the coaching staff.  The rules are no doubt different for coaches than for team managers.

David, thanks for the clarification.

Good for STH.  As much as I couldn't stand his thousands of posts a day...it is sorta quite without him....

Nice game for Guilford yesterday at Bridgewater.  Really nice gym and great fan turnout in Bridgewater.
Guilford guards did a fine job of taking Trawick out of his game;  I'm sure we'll be hearing a lot more from him over the years.  Oblitey and Fox had good games, but were generally overmatched in the paint.  Total team D for Guilford was excellent, disrupting play after play.

Strong was in a state where everything he put up, from dunk to jumper,  went in.  He'd release his jumper shot almost before the defense knew he had the ball.  Very pretty.  Snipes continued his roll and passed 1000 career points.

Guys like Kimbrough and Burge seemed happy to be destroying the BW offense, and passing really well.  Don't let the stat lines on either of these guys fool you; they are huge impact players.  Belkoski went down when his knee was hit, but got back up and later returned to play.  He seems ok but should probably sit out a game.  Neville stepped up, started the second half,  and held down Belkoski's position in top form.  Key rotation players like Henson, Edmund, Strickland, and Sanborn did a great job.  Edmund was playing for steals all over the place.  The rest of the bench did a fine job too.

2)   Guilford                   13    3     -- will be seeded #2
3)    Emory & Henry        10     7     -- will be seeded #3, #4, #5, or #6
4)     Roanoke                  9   7   -- will be seeded #3, #4, #5, or #6 (would lose tie-breaker to R-MC)
5)    Hampden-Sydney    8   8    -- will be seeded #3, #4, #5, or #6
       Randolph-Macon      8     8      -- will be seeded #3, #4, #5, or #6
7)  Washington & Lee    6   10    -- will be seeded #7 or #8
8 )    Bridgewater           5   11   -- likely to be seeded #7 or #8, but not yet in tournament
9)   Eastern Mennonite   3   13   -- still have a small chance of #8 seed
     Lynchburg                3    13       -- still have a small chance of #8 seed

Having said what the mathematical possibilities are, I'll say that Lynchburg's chances of making the tournament are extremely remote, as they would have to defeat Hampden-Sydney and Virginia Wesleyan, while Bridgewater lost both of its games.

EMU's chances aren't much better, with games coming up against Randolph-Macon and Roanoke, both of which they would have to win while Bridgewater lost both of its games.

Bridgewater seems fairly assured of making the tournament and could rise to the #7 seed, if they go into their end-of-season game with Washington & Lee only 1 game back.

The #3, #4, #5, and #6 seeds are very much up in the air.  Emory & Henry is assured of no worse than a number #5 seed and would pretty much assure themselves of the #3 seed if they defeat Guilford in Emory.  Roanoke could also finish 11-7, with wins against the Eagles and Royals, but its likely that the Wasps would win a tie-breaker with the Maroons, given their big win against the Marlins.

Roanoke's got an easy route to a #3 or #4 seed, if they can keep from being upset by BC or EMU.  However, a couple of losses could seed them as low as #6.

Hampden-Sydney and Randolph-Macon are likely to win Wednesday's games against Lynchburg and EMU, which will mean that the game in Fleet Gymnasium on Saturday the 17th will determine who finishes the season with a 10-8 ODAC record and who finishes with a 9-9 ODAC record.  A 10-8 record will put the team in a #3, #4, or #5 slot and a 9-9 record will mean a #5 or #6 seed.

Here's my bet:

1pm - #1 Virginia Wesleyan (17-1) vs. Bridgewater (5-13)

3pm - #4 Emory & Henry (10-8) vs. #5 Hampden-Sydney (10-8)

6pm - #2 Guilford (15-3) vs. #7 Washington & Lee (7-11)

8pm - #3 Roanoke (11-7) vs. #6 Randolph-Macon (9-9)

On paper, but from what I saw this weekend in Harrisonburg, it might not be quite as easy as it sounds.

Very fun game in Ashland on saturday. It doesn't get much better than a win against macon with moyer, bergman, wansley and mills watching from the stands. Although, i must say the macon crowd was quite tame. I remember some very hostile crowds in crenshaw when i served as manager.
As for the game itself, it looked and felt very much like the January meeting at the beach. Vwc played an excellent first half and started the game on a 27-7 run which would be the difference. The macon crowd didn't really get into it until the vwc lead was cut to 4 with about 4 minutes left.  After that macon pretty much fouled themselves out of the game.  The game was very fun to watch and I was impressed with hawley. He scored at will. If he starts playing well like that, macon will be a very dangerous adversary at ODACs.

Good synopsis.  Appreciate the post, and hope you'll keep doing it.

Congratulations to VWC (21-3) for moving up to #2 this week (one 1st place vote)!

Also in the ODAC, Guilford (19-3) moved up from 24th to 17th.  I believe the 17th spot and their 179 points are all-time DIII highs for GC.   Go Quakers!

ODAC tournament starts next week......... everybody ready????

tigerfanalso

Always look forward to the ODAC tourney and this one could be interesting. VWC is clearly the best team, followed by Guilford College. At this point E&H and/or RMC are staged as the two teams with best opportunity to pull off a major upset and I base that on their performance against the top two teams. They have shown they can match up and play a competitively against them. Of course there are several teams capable of beating E&H and/or RMC before either has a shot at the top two seeds but I don't see any other team having a real shot at beating VWC and/or Guilford.

Wish I could be in attendance but family obligations pull me away.
Good luck to all this week and into the tourney.
