How cool would it be if Guilford gets to the Final Four, and Jordan Snipes makes a cross court heave at the buzzer to win it all on semi-national television??!?!! :o

I understand that Jordan Snipes has a pretty good 3-point shot .......

I see that Sr. guard Snipes (All ODAC) was also a huge part of the Quakers success this year along with some experienced players.  How deep is Guilford's bench?

Go Lions!     Go Independents!   ;D

It normally runs five deep now, thank goodness.  I really like our bench at this point in the year.  They've bailed us out many times.

:D Some people smite people that ask for karma, but I am a sucker for shameless begging. :P ;)

Let me preface my next statement by the fact that I would enjoy seeing any of these teams in Salem, and I am definitely not picking sides. But with that said...

Just saying. ;)

With respect, you're nuts!  Do you know how hard that is on the fans?
Then again, that would be an acceptable outcome.  ;)

Although there is no way Lincoln has a player that can match Snipes' 90 footer, So. guard Keyon Johnson is rather good from the NBA 3 point range during the game with Catholic.   :)

Wow!  That's scary.  That looked like the same shot, twice in a row.  No point leaving that guy open.

I heard from a dear friend that Lincoln U. has one of the most famous art collections in the country, the Barnes collection.

Pat Coleman

It was the same shot twice in a row. Part of the run that put the game away for Lincoln.

Yes, Lincoln Trustees had the controlling votes on the Barnes Foundation due Dr. Albert C. Barnes friendship with  Dr. Harace Mann Bond (first alumni president of his alma mater and father of Julian Bond).  There was a series of lawsuits when the Barnes foundation attempted to change the bylaws, and Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell brokered a deal to settle the issues.  Lincoln fine arts students are able to take courses and utilize the Barnes Foundation Art Collection.

sludge may have already answered this question, but I've seen enough games to respond as well.  The Quakers are really solid through the first ten or eleven, then it drops off a bit due to talent and experience.  Expect Sanborn to sub for Strong; Neville/Edmond for Belkoski/Burge; and Strickland/Henson for Snipes/Kimbrough.  Wells will see some Forward duty if there's fatique or foul trouble.  If the game is close and the foul situation is under control, Hendrix, Hamilton, Warren, Gilbert and Stanley may not see action.  More and more lately, usually in the second half, I've seen Strong and Sanborn in the game at the same time if Strong has 2 or fewer fouls.  That's a 6'11" and 6'10" front line in DIII and they both have some skill to go with the size, although Sanborn is just a freshman and still learning.  Go Quakes!

Not sure if anyone has brought this up or not, but Guilford coach Tom Palombo is a VWC grad and ex-coach of the women's program.  He and his wife are great people and certainly worthy of a nice VWC cheering section for the Lincoln game.

I graduated from, let me just say that it was one with exponentially higher academic standards than VWC.

That's seems like some serious hyperbole. I'm certain Harvard isn't exponentially better than a juco. It would seem your school's forte wasn't math. :P

I started a new board in the Multi-Regional room.  maybe we can move the conversation reguarding the VWC sectional there

I just hope Lincoln has the depth to handle Ben Strong.  The Quakers are familiar with the Batten Center, being in the ODAC.  Lincoln's only game there was last's years sweet sixteen one point loss at the hands of Balenga.

Unfortanately, I can't make it down and will be listening as I did last year hoping for different results   :) .

Go Lions!
njlincolnlion, Strong can definitely be hard to handle, but he's not Guilford's only weapon.  Snipes is capable of 20, 30 or even forty in a fast-paced game.  A couple of other guys have really stepped up lately and are getting 8-15 a game.  As I said earlier, I expect an up and down kind of game and Guilford has no problem with that style.  If Lincoln shoots a lot of threes, however, expect Guilford to go with a lot of high-percentage looks inside unless they fall behind and have to play catch-up.  Again, I think an over and under around 190-200 is not out of the question.  Yeah, Guilford plays in the Batten Center every year, but I know the victory over VWC two years ago was in Greensboro.  It does help, I think, to know the floor, rims and lighting ... and Guilford's Coach Palombo is a VWC alumnus.   To support the ODAC and Coach Palombo, I'm expecting the Marlins fans to root for GC in the opener and it will be an enthusiastic and ROWDY atmosphere Friday night.  May the best team win.  Here's hoping the game is played with enthusiasm, determination and good sportsmanship.  Go Quakers!

I would expect the Marlin fans to cheer for their fellow ODAC member Guilford for the first game  ;D .  I hope Lincoln uses it's alotment, and try and convince the Choctaws fan to help us out since we are the "outsiders"  ;D .

I too hope for a spirted well officiated and exciting game, and best of luck to both teams Friday night.  It i'n not mistaken, the Batten Center set an attendance record last year in the Lincoln/VWC game, so we are familiar with "Marlin Mania", if I could coin the phrase.
