Something like 39 - 24 at the half, Amherst.

And for the later game, you won't hear this from me often, but
Go Marlins!

sludge

Amherst pulled it out 67 - 60 after many Wooster runs and some lead changes.  McLaughlin and Olsen led scoring for Amherst.

I probably won't say this very often in the future, but
Go Marlins!

Adair has 14 points on 7 for 7 shooting, and Stephen Fields is 3 for 4, but the rest of the Marlins are 0 for 12 from the field.

The Marlins are down by 3 points at the half, 25-28.

GO MARLINS !!!

sludge

Adair continues with his incredible shot selection.  Fields is acting like Fields.

Why doesn't Ton-Ton ever have a cold-shooting game against Guilford?

sludge

Ton-Ton getting fitted for a mask.  He must be really hurt.  Sorry to hear it.

Ton Ton hits a 3 to tie it up at 51-51 with 8 minutes left.

Adair with 18 and Fantin with 10 points.

Marlins went on a run to take a 62-53 lead, but then Washington went on a 11-0 run to take a 64-62 lead.  There 2:16 left.

sludge

Really gritty performance by VWC, down by 2 with about 2 minutes.
Brandon a stud, playing sick.  Ton-Ton, bleeding and playing tough.  VWC, playing hard.

VWC ahead by 1 point with 11 seconds to go, 66-65.  Washington misses a 3-pointer and Tucker gets the rebound.  He's immediately fouled and has 2 shots from the foul line.  Misses the first.  Hits the second shot to put the Marlins ahead by 2 points.  Washington brings it down the court and puts up a bad shot, but ar Washington player gets it and immediately puts it back up .... but the basket is made too late by a millisecond.

MARLINS RETURN TO THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME.

For the ODAC, this is 2 national championship games in 2 years ..... and 3 national championship games in 9 years.

sludge

VWC wins by two.  Not pretty, but gritty and effective.
Who says the ODAC is a weak conference?  So far, nobody but ODAC has beaten ODAC in this tournament.

sludge

Brandon 12-12.  Way to go, Brandon.  And

Way to go, Marlins!

That Horseshoe is still up the Marlin's butt's.  Man, what a gritty performance....

Again, Can Brandon Adair be much better??  STUD!!!  Ton-Ton...battling with the broken nose and Tucker was HUGE!!!

Let's see if we can get another trophy!!!

WOW!!!!!

Congratulations to the ODAC reps!

I don't recall anyone ever calling the ODAC a weak conference, but overall strength is just as much a matter of how good are the middle and bottom teams?  Otherwise, the NCAC (which generally IS considered a fairly weak conference) would probably be #1, with Woo and Witt annually ranked among the top ten (and the two winningest schools in d3 history - it's nice for the winning % to annually play two or more games each against the Hirams and Denisons of the world)!  The bottom half of the ODAC is stronger than that, but would struggle to escape the cellar in the WIAC or CCIW, and would finish quite low in the OAC or UAA.  Top-to-bottom, I'd say the ODAC is near the bottom of the top ten (but that is still far from 'weak' when there are about 40 d3 conferences!).

But, lest I sound negative, this year your top is about as good as it gets!  Congrats again to the Marlins, Quakers and Tigers!

It's your educated opinion that the bottom half of the ODAC would struggle to escape the cellar in the WIAC or CCIW and would finish quite low in the OAC or UAA.  However, the only games played this year suggest that your opinion might very well be wrong:  On December 30, the ODAC played 2 games against the conferences named above and these were the results:

Randolph-Macon (9-9 in ODAC) 68, UW Platteville (8-8 in WIAC) 64
Washington & Lee (6-12 in ODAC) 69, Emory (2-12 in UAA) 57

So we have the bottom half of the ODAC beating the bottom half of the WIAC and UAA in 2 games this year ...... and now we have the top team in the ODAC beating the top team in the UAA this evening.

So far in the post-season, only ODAC has beaten ODAC.

GO MARLINS !!

Congrats to the Marlins!  A gutsy performance.
