but horribleness is a real word according to the merriam webster online dictionary!

steelyglen,

Looked for you at the NCSU-VMI game last night.  I noticed up in the rafters a "Williford #14" ... any relations to Vann?

Went to the N.C. State locker room after the game ... got to meet Brandon Costner (McDonald's All-American last year).  And wow, Cedric Simmons really is a beast.  Their two national championship trophies were nice too ('76 and '83) :)

Now Scottie, you're not trying to back out of the promise to resign as team manager if the Hornets don't win 11 or more games this year, are you?  After all, a Lynchburg man's word is his bond, isn't it?     ;D

jeloesel

Huntingdon 70
Lynchburg 45

The Hornets shot 25% from the field and only 8-15 from the FT line.   Pete Manos was top scorer for Lynchburg with 8 points.

But Jim...you didin't mention Roanoke's win over Goucher last night. Congrats to the Maroons!!!

"eh kid"..sorry to have missed you Wednesday Night. A slow start for the 'Pack but a "W" is a "W" and I'll take it. Yeah rafter boy is a cousin...pretty damned good player in his day...

Cool meeting some of the current players. Simmons a big youngun' (as is Andrew Brackman) and is only going to get bigger and better. How are the State/Duke ducats at Cameron coming along? hehe ;D

Eh, another close victory.  Methinks its going to be tough to do perpahs perform this way once conference play gets going.  But Jim, gasp, no box score as of yet!  Doesn't look like Goucher even does box scores, and Roanoke hasn't posted theirs yet, although for the first time in memory, they have this funny little top scorer notation included as part of the listed score on the RC men's bball schedule page.

Can anyone else get the internet broadcast of the Roanoke game to work? Everytime I click on the link it tries to connect and just says "requested file not found"

jeloesel

I wouldn't be surprised if Roanoke blocked the Lynchburg soon-to-be-ex-manager from accessing the game.   8)

Roanoke is up by 11 with four minutes to go.

Roanoke wins over North Carolina Wesleyan,  85-74.  Page played lots of people.  The freshmen are getting some experience that should help during the ODAC schedule.  LaPorte had 18 in the first half, but cooled off in the second, winding up with 20.   Now if the Maroons learn to make free throws...

It's been 1996 since Roanoke has started off the season 5-0.

maroons6thman

wow, 18 in a half.... it'd help if I knew who else did what, yet still no box scores to these 2 games....

jeloesel

Well..
T. Jackson had 11 points, and six rebounds.
A.J. Dowell also had 11 points, and seven rebounds.
Butler had 10, I think all in the second half.
Lawler with 9 points and 5 boards.
Carter with 8 points.
Perry with 8 points and 8 boards.

Coach Moir said the team is not yet where it needs to be, but they have a couple days to prepare for EMU.  Let the games begin.
