It's funny you mention Darlington Heights because that is where I live!  Just down the road from the Fire Department.  I was born and raised in the Heights and my Freshmen advising groups community service project was to help in cleaning the Darlington Heights Volunteer Fire Department.  You can imagine how surprised I was when I found out about that.

     tiger....I think there is a school of thought out there that the champs are the champs until someone knocks them off their throne. Course H-S did win the ODAC tourn. but I think VWC by all means are kings of the hill right now.  I think I like your line up though.  At least through the top four. Might shuffle one or two down the line. With a little luck, maybe the top two can trade places too.  8)
     I think it is also safe to put Randolph at the bottom of the stack for a while.

     Oh yes, the DHFD located in beautiful downtown DH.  Guess you know the mayor of DH then? (Trey Eppes) I think he probably prefers to be called the King of the Cow Palace.

When do we get to include Randolph College ? 

According to http://wildcats.rmwc.edu/news/update.asp?id=561:

"The WildCat men's basketball team will start intercollegiate competition in 2007-2008, competing at a sub-varsity level, before playing a full Old Dominion Athletic Conference schedule in 2008-2009. Nunley will spend the next few months recruiting for the new program."

I'm wondering how this will change the ODAC basketball schedule.  Currently, each team plays 18 conference games and 6-7 non-ODAC games.  The following seem possible:

• 20 conference games and 4-5 non-conference games

• Some kind of breakup into 2 divisions .... ??

• The exodus of a current ODAC member (Guilford, VWC, E&H, or W&L?)

Algernon - that's an interesting comment. Why would you pick Guilford, VWC, E&H or W&L as potential teams to leave the ODAC and not HSC, RMC, Roanoke, LC, EMU or BC?

I'd hate to see the ODAC split into divisions. The ODAC is really good right now and getting better ... I'd hate to see it change.

I'd be interested from hearing from anyone that might know the answer !!!

Its hard to believe that I have had to break my silence two times in the last week, but, when outrageous statements are made in here that go unrefuted, somebody has to step up.

How can JDub associate Wishin' and Hopin' with anybody but Dusty Springfield?  And he calls himself old school.  I bet he prefers a zone to man to man, also.  Standards are slipping.

Tigerfanalso - what do you mean "picking on the Marlins." I'll drop any future comments right now by saying that you better watch out because VWC is going to have a hell of a football team this year. 

VWC's football team won't win many games, but I guarantee they go undefeated.

     R-MWC....uh I mean Randolph is already an ODAC member. Not sure what if anything this means with them adding mens sports.

I don't think that the women have split into divisions and they've been playing RMW for a while - like you said they're already in the ODAC.

For some reason, Guilford always comes up when this discussion gets started.  Is it because they're the lone NC school?    Personally, I don't see them leaving the ODAC for several reasons:

1.  Guilford needs the ODAC and the ODAC needs Guilford for football AQ.
2.  Currently, there are only four DIII schools in NC that field men's sports (Guilford and USASAC members Greensboro, Methodist and NC Wesleyan).  There are none in SC and only two in the eastern half of Tennessee (Sewanee and Maryville).  Guilford wants to be in the ODAC, not the USASAC.
3.  Guilford is actually geographically closer to many of the ODAC schools than E&H, VWC and, for football, Catholic.
4.  Guilford's student body and alumni are much more likely to live north of Greensboro than to the south or west.  Being in the ODAC aids recruiting and alumni events.

I realize it's called the "Old Dominion" Athletic Conference, but then again the Big Ten never bothered to change its name either.

Ooh, that's the kind of scathing personal attack I'd expect between two Amherst fans.   

Regarding those rankings, I guess folks are projecting VWC third in the conference due to a shortage of Adair on VWC.  I admit, those are big, skilled, sneaky shoes to fill.  I guess folks think they'll be a bit weaker on both ends of the floor.  I hope you're right on this, but I've got some doubts.

On expansion, I utterly don't welcome it, because I love the home-and-away setup, and we need to play out-of-conference games, and we sure don't want to lengthen the season which is already really long.
