Just got back from the E&H-Wooster game.  Wooster won big.  Wooster is a very smart and physical team.  Very deserving of a top ten record.  Shots didnt fall for the Wasps tonight...and in this system when that happens the Wasps will struggle.  I still belive that this is the start of something great at Emory.  Emory has opened with a tough schedule featuring Carroll and Wooster which wil help them when it comes time for ODAC play.  See ya Wednesday as Emory hosts Guilford.

EMU beats Lancaster Bible, (don't remember the score, but at least by 20). Bridgewater beats Greensboro (i  think it was 79-86).  Greensboro really stepped it up at the end of the game and played some good pressure defense.  Bridgewater did a fine job but there were many simple mistakes.  Josh Maupin, Brad Parkes, and Jason Sager were the ODAC players who made the tournament team and Clay Michael was named MVP.

Hampden-Sydney wins by 10 over Ferrum, 75-65.  Kaase gets 21 points and 9 rebounds, consistent with his season scoring average of 20.7 points/game.  Mike Edwards has 15 points and Drew Prehmus scores 10.  Tyler Murray gets his first start and comes up with 9 rebounds in a little over 20 minutes of play.  Given today's games, the ODAC has a 21-17 record against non-conference opponents and these are the CURRENT NON-CONFERENCE RECORDS:

Roanoke50
Hampden-Sydney3   0
Randolph-Macon    2 0
Eastern Mennonite 31
Guilford     21
Virginia Wesleyan 2 1
Bridgewater     22
Emory and Henry 22
Washington and Lee   0 5
Lynchburg    05

EMU won 93-67 and they substituted at the 3 minute mark... They could have easily won by 30 maybe more...They played better, forcing 27 maybe more TO's I think EMU had 11.. I was wondering what Clay Michaels Stats were?? Surprised Sager or Parkes didnt get the MVP   I believe Sager Avg. 17pts and 11rbs. for the Tournament and Parkes avg. 20pts and few Boards.. They also won by a larger margin of score in both games.. But none the less that is not important... EMU and BC won.. Way to represent the ODAC!!!!!!!!!

not like beating lancaster bible is much of an accomplishment. i'd be shocked if any D3 men's team couldn't beat them to tell you the truth. high schools could beat that team, and i'm not talking about anyone near the caliber of an oak hill either. beating a real team like greensboro was good for both teams though.

Clay Michael finished today with 23 points, 2 assists, and 7 rebounds.  I think that is a well deserved MVP (he had 13 points the night before, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists).  Maupin also had a good weekend with 19 points the first night and 17 the second.  Other Bridgewater notables were Matt Drewer with 17 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists tonight.  Drewer is really shaping up to be a good player.  If he starts showing more of a work ethic, he will really be a highlight player in the ODAC.  Josh Fox and Andrew Cathlin may not have contributed as much statistically, but both are looking to be a big part of the Bridgewater team.

Perhaps Lynchburg should have scheduled Lancaster Bible.   :)

Yes, but what about G3 men's teams?   ;)

Good bounce back weekend by the Eagles after the Dickenson tournament.  Now, the ODAC schedule opens up.  Home against W&L on Wednesday, I think, will be tougher than it looks.  The Generals will be trying early in the ODAC season to get more wins than they had in the league last year.  No question they will bring a lot of energy to the game, and BC better be ready to match it.  At EMU on Saturday will no doubt be tough.  And then next Wednesday at home against Roanoke, who has gotten off to a good start so far, and will either be confident or more than a little ticked off and ready to go after their weekend swing with VWC and R-MC.  Hopefully the Eagles can take the momentum from this past weekend into the ODAC.

stillfamily...your Royals did go 2-0 and the Royal stars were stars...however...remember who hosted the 2-day doubleheader. There have got to be some home cookin' perks in there somewhere. Besides, as ladyeagle clearly pointed out, Clay Michael WAS very good over the 2 day event. 36 points/11 boards/ 8 assists while shooting 16-26 from the floor (61.5%) are pretty damned good numbers. Josh Maupin was very good as well. (36 points 7-15 from 3-land/4 assists) Nice to see Matt Drewer step up over the 2 days and very nice to see Zach Butler have a solid game against Greensboro (11 points/4 boards and a steal). Cathlin, Oblitey and Fox appeared to be settling in and not trying to do too much too early. Fox had 25 points/9 boards/2 assist/3 steals/2 blocks over the 2 days. Not bad... Cathlin ran the point and had 9 assists/3 turnovers over the 2 days. Solid numbers...

Now I understand they did not play Macon, Wesleyan or EMU, but it was a good weekend for a team trying to find its identity.

The Don Glick doubleheader is a fine event but wish it would go back to the tournament format of a few years ago. So what if the Eagles and Royals met again...The old format made for some great basketball early in the season. Some real donnybrooks back in the day!

Steelyglen has a point about who was hosting the tournament. Parkes and Sager played the game that they normally play. Clay was very strong for the two day tournament, and he deserved the MVP. The Eagles looked fairly strong. They did not try to do to much, but what they did they did very well.

Next Saturday should be very interesting.

Steely,
I hope your feeling is correct that the Generals come out fired up and ready to play.  The Generals have a history of struggling at Bridgewater, but they usually play the Eagles much closer at home.
A few younger brothers of ODAC players are doing well with their respective teams.  Brian Burnette, the younger brother of former Bridgewater forward Shane, is leading the Richmond Spiders into the I-AA football playoffs as a linebacker.
Also, if any ODAC team happens to play Wittenberg,  a top 10 team, keep an eye out for their starting point guard, Pat Denbow.  Pat is the younger brother of W&L's former point guard Michael.

Good to see both EMU and BC beat Greensboro, a team that was tied for last place (with Ferrum) in the USA South pre-season poll.

As for Lancaster Bible, Juniata College (hardly a D3 powerhouse) beat them earlier this season by a score of 83-31 .....

Algernon...was there a point to your post or is that Sydneyitis already oozing out? Shall we start up the "leave Virginia" to play a regular season game bandwagon again...and certainly HSC wouldn't play anyone they were supposed to beat, right(like Ferrum)?
