44 - I just heard that too. Why did he leave VWC?

Pat Coleman

Odd -- I thought we already had this discussion somewhere, didn't we?

I think my prevailing opinion was that perhaps he didn't want to also be a head coach of another sport.

JWW, I'm not sure why he left.  I wasn't sure if the news of Doino leaving had been posted on this board yet.  If so, I must have missed it.

Pat - I suppose we might have but when you are my age ??? every e-mail or post is brand new!!

VWC team looked pretty good at times and pretty bad at times this weekend in the 7 cities pro-am but looked like a team that is ready to show what it has without brandon adair...the marlins were lead in scoring by tucker followed by fantin, balenga and dixon...

V_dub fan... did any rising sophomores play (ex. Tim Weyant, Stephen Fields) if so how did they do? And how did the post game look for the Marlins without Adair?

vdub_fan

fields played and battaglia and they both looked non existent. fields did not play like his normal selfand battaglia was well idk. adair is playing with the marlins in this and he finished with 16pts but other than that the post game looked much improved compared to last year. fantin made some tough moves to score in the post down the strech and the marlins also have another kid playing with them that is about 6'8 but i dont believe he plays for VWC. other than that is was more of a guard oriented game due to the lack of defense played by the apprentice guards. the marlins spotted up balenga and dixon and watched tucker repeatedly come off ballscreens and determine the tempo of the game whether it was driving for lay-ups or kicking to teammates. the marlins will have a great backcourt next with a great sixth man in fields

Follow up to the Marlin coaching staff discussion above, Brad Dunleavy has been elevated to the lead assistant, and former Marlin standout Marques Fitch has been named to the staff to address Doino's departure.

Nice school newspaper article about HSC's new Assistant Basketball Coach, Michael Blaine, who graduated from Johns Hopkins in 2003:

Algernon - is this the same Michael Blaine who coached at Radford? How long was he there? Was there some controversy surrounding that team?

jdubyadubya

All - I hope you have a minute to get online to www.playingforpeace.org. What a great organization. Pat, thanks for it to my attention.

We wouldn't want any more controversy at VWC.  They're already too controversial, what with winning too many games and remaining stubbornly on top of the ODAC.  Hopefully, these controversies will be reduced this year.

Thanks for sharing that effort with us.  I think every step in the direction of peace helps us all.

So, Sludge, any way early, pre-season prognostication? I'm thinking VWC, Guilford, Roanoke, HSC and RMC, in that order. But, hey, it's ODAC and who knows. ;D
