The Gennies start practice on Monday. When do the rest of the teams get going?

The earliest you can start is Monday, it's Oct. 15 every year, so I would assume everyone would start on the 15th.

I know that the D-1 schools are doing their Mid-Night madness before Monday. I guess there are different rules for D-3.

Must not be considered a "practice" then. I know practice can't start until the 15th, unless the rules have changed like you mentioned.

He belongs on the list. He's played in the shadow of Adair for the last few years and this year is his coming out party.

He might come out this year .... and I have no issue with his being on the HM list.

On the other hand, I don't think that the Marlins belong among the Top 10.  It seems to me that whoever does the poll doesn't realize that the Marlins without Adair are in no way the same team that they were with Adair.  Rarely has the loss of only 1 player meant so much to a team.  National POY in 2005-06, national FG% leader last year, and very possibly the best passer in the ODAC.  Adair has been central, central, central to the Marlins for 3 years now and I think that Virginia Wesleyan goes into this season as the biggest question mark in the league.

For Balenga to have the same success, or even more, the Marlins are going to have to have a post player that will be good enough to draw double teams and make good passes to players on the wing - other than some recruits, the three options for that look like to be Fantin, Hassell, and Battaglia - Battaglia didnt play much, Hassell only played 10 minutes a game, and Fantin isn't your typical post player. Macedo will surely have someone though the way he recruits.

Can't recall where I read it, but I believe d1 teams get the weekend before the 15th (at least if it is a Monday - not sure otherwise).  Supposedly this was something Bobby Knight lobbied hard for.

I don't  think teams will be double-teaming VWC's post.  Someone else, maybe even Ton-Ton, but probably not the post.

It is easy to see why the Marlins are in the top ten. They have 3 seniors who have started in 2 National Championship games. And they have Macedo. #7 seems pretty accurate to me. Ton Ton, Tyler and D'Juan will lead, what I believe to be the most versatile and athletic team in the ODAC

yeah..just what we need...a first game vs. #7.
oh my.

it'll be fun

damien brown an HM all-american? Interesting. Not saying he doesn't deserve, I'm just surprised he was even considered based on the stats he puts up - solid but dont look like the typical stats an AA would have.

There's 28 guys on the list. Lots of mention.

well, at least playing them first game will get them out of the way. better than having them in the middle of a hot streak then having them stop the hot streak.

Good point, wahoo.  It is certainly very understandable why they would be in the Top Ten, since they have Coach Macedo and 3 starters who have played in 2 National Championship Games.  Now comes the tough part:  Proving that they actually belong in the Top Ten without Adair.

What do they have coming at them before the between-semester holidays?  A couple of games vs. Newport News Apprentice, I see, along with a game against Christopher Newport and probably against North Carolina Wesleyan.  Perhaps their toughest opposition prior to the holiday break will be against Roanoke and Averett.

It's interesting to me that the Marlins have 7 games before the break, whereas the Tigers only have 3 games before the break (2 of the 3 are against Averett).

Scottie .... You're certainly correct that Lynchburg will have to play as many games against NCAA Tournament participants.

What makes the Tigers' schedule really tough is that they not only play Virginia Wesleyan, Guilford, and Averett, but they've also got #8 Mississippi coming up for a holiday tournament and each of their other non-conference opponents is a team with a winning 2006-07 record (16-20 wins apiece).
