no truth to the rumor about david carlson not playing this year. he is playing for randolph-macon this season.

That is good news. How do you know for sure? I have not been able to find this years roster yet.

I hear you.  It's the same at Guilford.  We'll probably get a roster at halftime of the South Carolina game.  lol

It might be a while before you get a Guilford roster. The Guilford SID - Dave Walters - jsut recently had a very unfortunate family problem and the assistant SID - Matt Grosso - is acting as the head SID in the meantime...

Well, I'm sorry to hear that, but I had noticed a lot more delays in getting things posted in a timely manner than I was accustomed.  I wish Dave - and Matt - well.

Well I've taken a break from D3 hoops but I'm back and can't wait for the season to start!!!! Virginia Wesleyan just scrimmaged D1 Norfolk State of the MEAC and VWC won the two halves that the starters/regulars played in. VWC looks like they are a good team. The two players that surprised me the most were Jabez Wallace and Julius Carlton, both freshman post players. Julius has a nice mid-range game and is a very athletic player for his position, while Wallace was a beast on the boards and he plays very aggressive in the post. I can't wait for the D3 season to heat up.... its right around the corner fellas!!!!

not to discredit any win over a D1 - that's impressive no matter who it is - but this team has a D3esque roster in regards to size. based on last year's stats, they only had one good post player and they only had 4 players average more than 5 points a game.

Hey, STH, I was having dinner at Bert's Seafood (excellent, as always!) in Greensboro tonight and met LC's Evan Fancourt's Mom who knew my friend Jan.  A very nice lady who says they'll have a big local contingent on hand when the Hornets visit Guilford.

Oh yeah? That's kinda neat. The Greensboro natives always bring a decent sized crowd to the game, including a bunch of UNC Greensboro players if they don't have a basketball conflict theirselves!

Gennies vs the Keydets Thursday night!

VMI is young and their roster doesn't look as big or deep as last year. Will they stil be able torun the quasi Grinnell sytem? Or, will the Williams kid (that declared for the NBA & the returned to school) be able to handle W&L by himself?

Guilford is scrimmaging at home against D2 Queens University on Thursday evening, Nov 1.
Then down to D1 UofSC in Columbia for an exhibition on Monday, Nov 5.

The season is so close I can almost taste it.  Go Quakers!

I think that the preseason poll will be conducted today or tomorrow, based on the date of last year's news announcement.

ODACfan4life

ODAC media day is Thursday November 1 which I presume is when poll is done or results announced.

mybleedinghands

the poll is conducted via email with the results due prior to the media day. SIDs are informed the day before of the results and are not supposed to release the results until after media day. the media day normally wraps up around 1 pm, so my guess is that the ODAC SID will have the poll released on the ODAC website by no later than 2. oh and coaches can vote for their own team, by the way, unlike some polls.
