HSC hit 62% from the field, 80% from three-point range.  Kaase had 19 points in 21 minutes on the inside, while Drew Prehmus went 5 for 5 from 3-point range, getting 19 points, along with 4 rebounds and 2 assists.  Great game for the Tigers!

Couple more stats from the RC game - let me get the negative out of the way:  out rebounded 37 to 33, not too bad, but 16, yes 16 offensive rebounds for the fighting emus - if Roanoke turns half of those into possessions and points, I wouldn't have been quite as sweating it down the stretch as I was.  Great game though by both teams.....
Here's more stats, expounding on Jim's post: 50.9% shooting for the Maroons tonight, continuing (actually bettering) the 46% so far this year.  The team seems alot more patient to find a good shot than any time in recent memory.  Hope that continues.  Nice contributing minutes from that deeper bench - Diggs (6 rbs in 18 min, and just a good presence on the court) Peery (10 pts in 13 min) Dowell (11 pts in 21 min, plus 5-6 FT down the stretch) Sigmon (8 pts 6 rbs in 11 min) helps so so much.... Jim I can't remember how long its been since I've seen game after game multiple double figure scorers (tonight, five).
p.s. Congrats to all that picked EMU over Roanoke in your pick 'em contest.

Tough loss for EMU!

With the ODAC being so competitive, road wins may be hard to come by.

EMU will rebound from this lose and take on the Eagles this Saturday.  I can't wait.

Good job, Genaro!  You probably know these teams better than almost anyone.  So, what do you think about 147 from the Quakers with only two three-point shots taken?  lol

Damn if Wansley doesnt go 2-for-7 from the field and RMC still shoots 65%. Wow, fundementally sound teams in RMC and HSC and both shoot 60% or better tonight, execution at its best.

A few notes on the R-MC at LC game:

Randolph-Macon was led by junior guard Adam Krovic, who scored a game-high 24 points on 10-of-13 shooting (76.9%), including 2-of-4 three-pointers (50.0%).  Senior forward Justin Wansley (Richmond, VA/Henrico) scored 11 points, making all six of his foul shot attempts, and pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds.  64.

Also for the Yellow Jackets, freshman forward Nick Annacone also scored 11 points, a career-high, in just 10 minutes off the bench.  He made all three of his field goal attempts, all from behind the three-point arc.  Freshman guard David Carlson added 10 points on 4-of-5 shooting (80.0%), which included 2-of-3 three-pointers (66.7%), in 14 minutes of reserve action.

As a team, Randolph-Macon shot 33-of-51 overall (64.7%), including 11-of-18 three-pointers (61.1%).  R-MC also outrebounded LC, 35-22.

For Lynchburg, junior center Peter Vasiliou was the only player in double figures, with 17 points on 8-of-11 shooting (72.7%) in 18 minutes off the bench.

Wow, E&H/Guilford was a classic. Great game.

Kudos to coach Macedo for imposing discipline on one of his charges for not performing academically, even though it may have cost his team a win.  He's got his priorities straight, and we ought to applaud loudly.

The Old Dominion Athletic Conference opener played at the Jane P. Batten Student Center did not shed much light on the situation for the Marlins (2-3, 0-1), the preseason favorite to win the league title. In fact, it was dimmed a little more by the absence of sophomore starter TonTon Balenga, an outside shooting threat and VWC's second-leading scorer, who was benched for the game by Macedo for missing classes.

Ironically, it was the lack of a long-distance game for the Marlins that ended up creating a big difference against the Tigers (4-0, 1-0), as Virginia Wesleyan hit only 2-of-13 triple attempts, while H-SC nailed a torrid 8-of-10. Virginia Wesleyan set a program record last year with 239 triples made, including a rookie record 70 by Balenga.

Talking about coaching moves, why did Lynchburg's leading scorer Pete Manos only play 11 minutes in the Macon game?  It looks like he didn't play any in the second half.  Injury?  Benched for 0-5 shooting in the first half?  Saving him for Friday's game against Liberty?

Philosophical differences, no injury. Why would we even save him for Liberty? We're only playing them for the money, we aren't going to give him a lot of minutes in a relatively unimprtant game against Liberty when an important game with Guilford looms the next day.

After seeing how well RMC shoot, I can't even begin to imagine ho win the world they lost as big as they did to Lincoln. Their shooting skills are impeccable. Nearly every single person on that shoot the lights out. We could contest a shot and have a hand covering their face and they would make it. we could leave them wide open and they would make it. we could force them into taking what must would consider a bad shot and they would make it. the only thing i could think of we could have done to cause them to miss a shot was foul them, and consicering how good they shoot they probably would have still made it. As soon as they started basically making everything they put up we stood no chance from then on out. I haven't seen Hampden Sydney or the other teams yet, but I just can't see any ODAC team beating them this year unless they can match their shooting abilities or get them on an off day.

Props go to our big man Pete Vasiiou. Keep up the good work big guy, I've never seen you play that well before. Play like that on Saturday and Ben Strong will be completely neutralized.

Very good win for Bridgewater last night...ugly maybe...but conference wins are precious and you take every one no matter how the package is wrapped. W&L plays Bridgewater tough every year whether in Lexington or Nininger Hall. Stat geek time...Clay Micheal seems to be finding his groove leading the Eagles with 16 points and 9 boards. Josh Maupin continues to impress, getting 10. As I have said several times, the Eagles will win when the not so common names step up. Last night it was Michael Oblitey (8 points and a steal) and Jay Strotman (10 points). Andrew Cathlin continues to play solid point guard (5 points/3 assists/2 steals and a blocked shot. And Josh Fox continues contributing (7 points/9 rebounds/2 blocks/2 steals).

On the down side shooting 30% from the floor (15-50) won't win you many games and when you get 43 chances with no one guarding you, you must convert more than 29. The 7 assists to 12 turnover ratio must be reversed to win consistently. On the brighter side the Eagles outrebounded the Generals 46-27 AND BC pulled down 24 offensive boards (to W&L's eight) which is a terrific number,

Well onto Saturday Night, where the Royals are surely huge favorites...no way EMU should lose this one. Just try and keep it close BC!
