OK, sports fans, I know this is a football question, but here's a bit of trivia to help you through the winter doldrums:

Without searching the internet for the answer, what four colleges/universities have produced both a US President and the winning QB in a Super Bowl?

I believe Michigan and Navy are half of the answer.

I just got finished reading this article about Tyler Fantin

http://www.vwc.edu/athletics/news/index.php?sport=mbb&disp=2037

Thanks for sharing the article.  It was very nicely written and a tribute to Tyler Fantin.  I've always liked his game and felt he didn't get enough accolades, given his significant contribution to a team that went to the national championship game two years in a row!  WOW!  He's a big player for the Marlins and always seems to be particularly hot when they play the Tigers .... unfortunately.   ;)

This weekend's games involve some easier calls than some days:

GC at E&H - 2:00pm -- I think the Wasps are going to get destroyed in Emory.

RMC at HSC - 2:00pm -- This is going to be a killer game.  However, the Tigers are playing at home and will take their second straight game from the Yellow Jackets.

VWC at LC - 3:00pm -- The Hornets will have no sting.  Expect Tyler Fantin and the post players to defend Mason Woolridge well enough that the game will not be close.

EMU at RC - 7:00pm -- Roanoke by a mile.

BC at W&L - 7:00pm -- This game could easily go either way, but I think that the Generals will win the game on their own court.

Stanford and Miami University are the other half.

I might add that the Generals, following their opening game against Drew, have only lost to teams with solid winning records:  Ursinus (12-2), Emory (8-4), Virginia Wesleyan (10-3), and Roanoke (10-2).  They have beaten Randolph-Macon (11-2) and two other teams with winning records (Dickinson and Ferrum).

Bridgewater has lost only to 2 teams with excellent records, both games on the road:  Penn State-Behrend (10-3) and Virginia Wesleyan (10-3).  They have solid wins in defeating DeSales (13-1), Shenandoah (11-3), and Hampden-Sydney (8-4) -- all games at home.  So far, the Eagles' record is much better at home.  However, Washington and Lee is not a very long trip, and the Eagles should have plenty of fans there.

So this is a game between two very good teams, either of whom could finish among the top 4 teams in the conference.  Should be a good one.

almcquirejr and algernon - right you are!  When first presented to me, I also got Michigan (Gerald Ford and Tom Brady) and Navy (Jimmy Carter and Roger Staubach), but couldn't remember Miami of Ohio (Benjamin Harrison and Ben Roethlisberger) and Stanford (Herbert Hoover and Jim Plunkett/John Elway).

Solid analysis, as always, Algernon! 8)

Of course I beg to differ on the outcome of the meeting at Fleet on Saturday!  But you'd expect no less.  The snow might make or break attendance however.  They're calling for an 80% chance tomorrow in Lynchburg with a projected accumulation of 1-3 ".

R-MC had better be ready for HSC. The way HSC played wednesday night was down right ugly. I would expect Coach Bubba took them over the coals on thursday.... Which should make them pretty intense for saturdays game. I am hoping they have one more ugly game. GO JACKETS!!

Hampden-Sydney will be ready for us; they always are.  This aspect of the rivalry has really picked up momentum over the past 10 years. If the snow isn't too bad, I plan to be there.  I'm very curious to see how the freshmen adapt to a game like this one.

as much as i hate to say it we'd better be ready-and i know mike will have the kids ready-...but as good as we've been playing lately and they played like sh-- over here in va beach[i'm in franklin]on wednesday so they're due for a good game and we may be due to have an off game.all my h-sc friends tell me they're also rededicating something in Fleet tomorrow,also-whether it's the new floor, some remodeling they've done,or something-  but  there's some ceremony tomorrow with alot of their alumni coming-so they'll be pumped.-and over here in s.e va we're supposed to get more snow than you guys are for a change-i'm listening to the game on the web-that's a long way home for me and alot of trash-talking cell phone calls from my h-sc friends if we lose.......we need a big first half lead and pound inside to jeremy in the 2nd.......GO JACKETS.....

rmc1982,  How long is the ride to HSC from the beach front? I am thinking of going tomorrow.

HSC will be dedicating their new stadium seats on the players side of Fleet.  They just finished installing them.  As for the snow, I think it would affect the crowd for RMC much more than HSC.  A large part of the crowd for this game is always the HSC students and I don't see snow slowing them down or preventing them from at least walking over to Fleet.  HSC has not lost at home yet this year, but RMC will be their biggest challenge to this point.  This should be a game that is easy for the players to get up for.  At this point, I would give the advantage to HSC even though RMC is playing better because it is 1) at Sydney and will be loud, 2) the Macon freshmen have not played (as far as I know) in this hostile of an environment yet, 3) HSC needs the win to get back to .500 in the ODAC, and 4) because I am a homer!  To anyone who is traveling to any games tomorrow, travel safe.

It's taken a while to get a smidgen of respect for my Gennies. Thanks for the positive spin :-*

Yes .... new stadium seats!  They look great and were first used for the home game last Sunday against Eastern Mennonite.

Garnet and grey T-shirts were given away to any student who wanted one in the Commons yesterday .... they say "Kirby Krazies" on the front and "2007 ODAC Champions" on the back .... so expect to see a field of HSC color in Kirby.

It should be crowded and loud ... for sure.  Best home game of every year, in terms of crowd size and volume!  Last year's game was a winner all the way around.  ;)   We can only hope to win by 1 this year.

I wonder how many Macon fans will make it down.  The snow may scare some away, but I don't really think the snow is going to be a problem.

donho:  From HSC, I've found that it's 2.15 hours to Williamsburg and 3 hours to Virginia Wesleyan and 3.5 hours to get all the way to the boardwalk.  While I've recently tended to go 460/ 317/ 360/ Powhite/ Downtown Expressway/ 95/ 64 and across Hampton Roads to Virginia Wesleyan, I've also gone just as fast by taking 460 all the way through Petersburg until you get to 58 in the Tidewater region.  Hope this is helpful.
