Yes, I agree. But I thought this would all be enough fodder for a novapoem.

Don't encourage him ::)

I'm all for getting the Mock Convention off the campus and watching some hoops in L'burg tomorrow & H-S in the Warner Center on Sunday. btw we now have theater seats on the west side of the gym and new bleachers on the east side. Hopefully a few Tiger fans will make the trip & enjoy the new creature comforts of the always hospitable Warner Center.

theater seats are a bit of an exaggeration, they are just the standard chair back seats like a lot of other schools have these days...

Dave 'd-mac' McHugh

Those of you that figured we would hear back - or even again - from "lynchburgcollege" please stand up.

You can stand up now...

anyone...

anyone...

Buehler...

Buehler...

don't be shy... stand up...

hmm... no one?

OK... moving on!

Guilford certainly showed some fight with their win over Roanoke, but the ODAC may be in some trouble come post-season play. I can't imagine four teams from the conference getting tournament bids. Two, sure... I can see that. Three... hmmmmmmmm maybe.

So, unless Guilford can stay unblemished the rest of the season, they are in a dog fight with RMC, Roanoke, and VWC for not only the title... but maybe one or two bids in the NCAA (outside of the AQ).

And those four teams, can't let teams like HSC, W&L, and others get on a roll in the ODAC Tournament.

d-mac-what's youir take on the RMC-VWC game tomorrow??Do you think we have a chance in "the tank"?

Dave 'd-mac' McHugh

I certainly don't think VWC is unbeatable in the "tank". I have certainly seem them play there many times and it is a tough enviroment, but RMC has shown we a lot this season, especially on the road.

Good defense has helped RMC win at Guilford, E&H, and at HSC. VWC has shown how a tough defense can rattle them and the last game at home against Eastern Mennonite was far closer than it should have been.

I think, honestly, that VWC has been a bit overrated this season. I don't want to take anything away from their last two seasons and everything they did leading up to two National Championship appearences, but they lost a lot heading into this season. They rely a lot on Ton Ton Balenga and Tyler Fantin from the outside and I think RMC has shown that Coach Rhoades has gotten the defense tighted up again and that will cause problems for VWC to find other scorers.

Should RMC control the boards and can keep from turning the ball over... they should be able to beat VWC - even on the road.

Are we getting a little jaded ::)

If you have long legs they aren't a great fit. They are however a huge improvement over what we used to have. When I watch L'burg vs. the Generals, over the web,  in February; will I see you seated comfortably in the stands?

There is a 0% chance I go to that game for an assortment of reasons that have nothing to do with basketball.

Yeah, a little bit.  I welcome all posters, of course, but I miss some of the gentlemen and -women we used to see (steelyglen, jeloesel, et al) ... where have they gone?  Hopefully, we can all avoid personal attacks and offer more constructive posts.

This certainly isn't the most hospitable forum for newcomers. I've often resigned to just reading instead of participating in the banter, as things tend to get personal fairly quickly. I'm of the school that says everyones opinion is equal and the more posters their are, knowledgeable or not, the healthier the board is. I'm sure a lot of the personal stuff is unintentional but it'd be nice to see new posters welcomed instead of critiqued the moment they show up. If their first post happens to be different, it at least got them onto the board and participating in discussion on our ODAC conference and D3 basketball. Just food for thought from a daily reader and occasional contributor.

As for the big RMC-VWC game tomorrow afternoon, I expect the wild card will be VWC defense. When they play the kind of D they're capable of it's difficult for anyone to beat them at home. However, this year they've often chosen not to play with the necessary intensity until only a few minutes remain in the game. Fantin and Hassell, along with the two freshman, will have to play solid enough inside that the guards can really pressure shooters. If RMC comes in and makes a few shots early, you may see the VW defense deflate a bit. If so, RMC will probably walk out with the W. My gut says this is a game Macedo will have his team ready for. The last game was weak, many of the students have returned for the spring semester, and they're playing one of the conference favorites. If they don't at least play well in this one it will be a clear signal that, barring a conference tourney run, it's not the Marlins year. We'll see how it goes; should be a good one.

What I find interesting is that that post didn't come from anywhere within 500 miles of Lynchburg's campus. So it's someone who's so disgruntled he's not even in the same time zone anymore.

Pat ..... I wonder if the person knew that you would comment on their location and therefore asked a friend to put the post on from their friend's computer -- more than 500 miles away.  Just a thought.

And asked them to register back in December on the off chance that became necessary?

It's possible the friend registered in December .... and only now posts for the first time, on behalf of his friend.  It's possible ..... but who knows? ..... maybe we can just enjoy the future anonymous postings of lynchburgcollege (who should maybe change his Username to "Mr. Swickrath's Best Friend").

By the way, I notice that I've lost 2 karma since I raised the question this morning.  I wonder what that's about ....

GP05-While i concur with you and also d-mac i think you should also consider the wild card to be the RMC defense-If you have not had the opportunity to see them this year I think you will find,as d-mac has noticed, that they play good old fashioned Mike Rhoades get in your pocket man-to-man "D",unlike they have in the past couple of years and more like they did a few years ago when they were a higher quality team.Back then [as they have a few times this year]they won games they shouldn't have won[because they shot badly, turned it over a few more times than they should have, etc]because of their defense and rebounding-it's a Mike Rhoades trademark-and they won at HSC last week like that,Now the big question is whether or not they can come down here and do that-BIG question.......if they can then they will rapidly become the king of the hill in the ODAC-Also-they have the lion's share of their big conference  games remaining AT HOME-RC,GUILFORD,HSC.W&L,VWC-ALL AT HOME.........and Crenshaw is definitely a hostile environment when we can get the students and alot of our old, fat, loud alumni in there making noise! This game tomorrow is very big for RMC-if we lose it isn't the end of the world- but if we win then we're in the driver's seat the rest of the way and it's our title to lose.....Go JACKETS!

Mr. Ypsi

Am I remembering correctly from earlier posts that Tyler Sanborn is back?  Is he looking 100%?

Not that I have seen any of the teams, but based on filtering the scuttlebutt here and looking at the records, to me that puts Guilford right back at the top, though by no means a sure thing.
