hasanova - I think you are barking up the wrong tree. I gave paws to your comments but couldn't recall the incident. Trying to remember will dog me for days. Now I'll probably have the yips when I play golf this weekend.

Enjoyed the R-MC/LC game last night, but had a question.  There was a guy from LC, # 54, who was defending Wansley in front of the R-M bench and he just started barking (just like a dog) at Wansley.  One of the stranger things I've seen at a ball game.  What's up with THAT?

Albright had a good game from LC, and he's got a hard job this year bringing along the Hornet freshmen.

All players are taught to yell "ball ball ball" when defending the player with the ball and "dead dead dead" when they pick up their dribble and "shot" when a shot goes up. All coaches (college coaches at least) teach ther players to yell at least "ball" when on defense, although a lot of players don't do it in games but some do. It helps with on the floor communication, which is always a vital aprt of the game. I've seen players yell "ball" and "dead" and "shot" plenty of times before. I don't know what kind of basketball you watch but its a common occurence, and I dont know what kind of dogs you pay attention to, but i've never heard a dog yell ball before.

I appreciate the enlightenment.  I had forgotten the vocal aspect of the game.  However, this guy was woofin'!!  Everyone on the R-M side heard it.  But I'm not trying to make an international incident about it.  Just mildly amused, and very curious.

Glad I stumbled across this ODAC board, though.  Nice to see some other diehard ODAC fans.

i heard the guy too. i have two ears that function very well. he was yelling "ball ball ball" not "bark bark bark" or "woof woof woof" or any other dog noise.

Scottie, the LC thing was suppose to be a joke...immitating you,on a positive note for you i think they have a chance against GC this weekend... and i saw the game, manos played about the first 8 minutes then sat for the rest of the game,he looked intimidated...albright is their best player, all-around and he is there leader...and LC got some work to do if their starting 4 seniors and dont really have to many impact players on the bench....also, why start 3 guards if your not gonna run the ball? they had 0 fast break points, and 0 fast break oppurtunities, i dont even think they pushed the ball in order to attack, they would push then back off, and run a "wide" set...they basically did that the whole game, no real sets or plays besides that basic weave...they should start prior and shaeffer, might help with the rebounding, and they dont look to run anyways...only my opinion im not a coach, not looking for trouble, only what i think....

are my picks in or am i too late in the season??   thanks  :)

I'll give you the "buzz" on Quakers, Hornets, "barking" and other matters after I go to the LC/GC game at Guilford Saturday afternoon.  lol  Scottie, if you like, I'll come by the LC bench and say hello.  :)

Go right ahead if you want. Look at LC's roster for a picture of me.

There was a legitimate reason why Prior didn't start. In house issue though. Sheaffer did start I believe. I agree he looked intimidated. I don't think he was prepared for the great defense the Macon players utilized against him.  They never gave him an opportunity to get anything going. No impact players? Ramon came off the bench and scored 9, Big Pete came off the bench and scored 17. If they can continue to give us good contributions off the bench then our lack of scoring off the bench we've had in previous games will be erased.

To STH,

What are your thoughts on the RMC freshmen?  What little I've seen, they may be the best overall class to enter RMC.

To Algernon or any other HSC backer:

What happened to Mladen Cvijanovic and James Ponton from your pre-season roster?

Also, what's the story on Jeremy Szuch?  He was highly recruited by several schools including RMC.  He played little last year and none this year.  Anyone of his size should get some minutes.  Just curious?

Were you at the game last night?  If not, headed to Roanoke/W&L games?

Jacketlawyer, was not at the LC game, but am thinking about making this weekends games.  It'll be a last minute decision.

Scottie you are right about those players playing big off the bench, but are they the type of players that are going to be able to lead LC next year...If the team wants to improve to a winning season then they will have to bring in some impact players..now are they gonna be able to bring freshmem that will be ready for the next level? I think it will take some time dont you, lets try to be realistic please  :)

On the RMC freshmen, they are real good, one kid #44 Nick Annacone came off the bench with about 3 minutes left and scored 11 points, 3-3 3pts and a couple of free throws, he made a move to the hoop and went up strong looked like he was ready to dunk, luckily LC fouled him...but I think he should be playing more,,real potential in him...another kid from Chile got a few minutes. He went baseline and jammed it like it was nothing. In warm-ups he was doing reverse dunks like it was easy, he's also a good ball handler for his size...They also start a freshmen Pg who is good...Yup,looks like RMC will not only be RMC in the years to come..but even better, look for them in the Top 5 within 4-5 years

If, as scottie says, Manos was riding the bench because of "philosophical differences" with the coach and Prior didn't start because of some "in-house issue", it sounds like the Hornets are in some serious disarray.  Friday night's game against D1 Liberty is almost certainly going to be another beat-down, not likely to improve team morale.   I see the season going into the tank very rapidly  for Lynchburg unless there is a dramatic turnaround.  Does anyone see it differently?

PTP, I think the biggest challenge for the RMC freshmen is PT with many solid returners and 19 on the roster.  Boris will be the real deal and is a crowd favorite at RMC.
