............ say "regular season", because I'm still hoping Guilford might host an NCAA round.  Wouldn't that be great!  I went to two NCAA women's games in back-to-back seasons a few years ago when the Quaker women were ODAC champs and it was an electric atmosphere!

The Quakers will not likely get a first-round bye in the NCAA Tournament, but they WILL get a bid, regardless of what happens in the ODAC Tournament.

I think they have an excellent chance of being one of the 16 teams that will host a first-round game, as long as they beat E&H on Saturday and win their quarterfinal game against EMU.  If they lost in the semi-finals, they'd have a 22-5 record and that should be good enough to get them a game or two on campus.

Hey, algernon.  I agree with your analysis.  I wasn't thinking the Quakers would get a first-round bye, but I was hoping they might host a first- and second-round game.  Perhaps it was because VWC was more highly ranked at selection time, but the Marlins hosted four home court games in each of the past few years when they won the ODAC regular season - in 2006 they also won in Salem, but last year they didn't win the tournament and still hosted four games.  Just curious, but what's the criteria for making the venue decisions?

Pat Coleman

Geography, seeding, quality of venue, seating.

with seeding seeming to rank the lowest on the priority list a lot of times. for example, this past fall the LC women's soccer team hosted the regional semi-finals and regional finals while they were the lowest seed of the 4 teams! LC was technically the "road" team despite playing on their own home field in their two games!

Pat Coleman

Yep -- that sort of thing depends on your part of the country. Where the ODAC is, on the border of a populous D-III area, that could happen.

I'll see you at the game E&H game tomorrow, Nova.  It should have a fast pace to it.  Senior day for those guys, wow!  What a classy crew.

Guilford does have a first class floor to play on.  The seats are ordinary and adequate, but the floor is really excellent.  I hope we can host a few games in the NCAA tournament, it would be a blast!

A lot of basketball to be played between now and then!  I like Ben's notion that the best way to assure a spot in the NCAA is to win going forward.

Hey sludge, I'm excited about the current 12-game win streak, but E&H always gives GC fits.  For some reason, even when we get a lead, I never feel safe playing the Wasps.  I'm sad to see everyone leave, but it's been fun.  I don't think Guilford's 1969-70 29-game win streak will be broken for a long time, but I think the 14-game streak from 1974-75 is vulnerable.  As you say, it should be a fun, fast-paced game!  See you there!

Looks as though Guilford's going to have video and audio of Senior Day when the Quakers host the Wasps at 3 pm this afternoon.

That's a bit odd because as a basketball game, it is doubtful to be a work of art.  The System seems to prevent it.  It sure can be exciting, though.

EHC is gradually beginning to abandon the system, apparently. If that trend continues, I fully expect this season to be the last we see of it in the ODAC.

With all due respect to E&H, I don't think the decision to videocast and audiocast is as much about "the system" and who Guilford's playing as it is about it being the last home game for some vaunted seniors.

You're a Homer, so I knew you would!  :)

HSC trails RMC by 5 at the half, 32-27.  HSC lead by 2 and Macon closed the half with a 7-0 run to take the lead.  HSC is shooting 28%.  Should make for an interesting 2nd half.

GP05

VWC easily over LC.  For a significant part of the first half LC had more fouls than points, 9-7.  Halftime count was 48-16.  Balenga and Fantin both had big games on senior day.
