gogenerals

Steely,
I think there is a little confusion because I am GoGenerals and there is a GoGenerals04.

It's ok if I don't participate in the Pickem contest, but just for the record I'm going to pick the Generals in every game even if Vegas is against me.  Anyone can win on any given night, right?  That's why you tip it up!

As far as home cooked refs go, I don't buy it.  I think the refs in the ODAC are professional and do a good job.   They may blow a call or two because they're human, but the refs aren't the difference in a 43-7 free throw differential.

The Generals need to find a way to play more sound defense and get to the line more on offense, and I think the players and coaches will find a way to do so.

If I were coach at LC, and I can say this b/c I have ACTUALLY coached at the college level and the high school level, I would suspend you for mouthing off on this board in an idiotic manner that denigrates LC's Basketball Program.

Now, I would rather you NOT mouth back to me in about 20 posts, which is your accustomed response pattern, about how I have been disrespectful to you, etc.  You seem to be a rather smart person that seems to be on the right path to being a respectable citizen of Virignia and the United States.  However, sometimes your mouth gets way out in front of your brain...And that is youth.  We have all been there and done that, but I would have thought you would have learned by now, especially on this board.  Please sit and think a little bit before responding to this post.  You have lots of great information to add to the ODAC Board, but you could do it in a much more mature and respectable way, not only for the sake of you personally, but for the sake of LC's Basketball Program.

What college or colleges did you coach at? Just curious.

"sometimes your mouth gets way out in front of your brain...And that is youth" and my emotions and frustration. I have a difficult time controlling my emotions at times, in case you guys hadn't figured that out by now.

"You seem to be a rather smart person that seems to be on the right path to being a respectable citizen of Virignia and the United States" Thanks for the compliment!

gogenerals..gogenerals04 and any other generals down Lexington way... all are wlecome in the pick'ems. I never want to exclude any one who wants to play. It's all for ****s and giggles anyway! I just didn't want to assume anyones participation either.

By the way are there any lower ranking officers I can speak with?   Tim?...

My head now officially hurts... ;D

Scottie -

Just a question - would you want Coach Swickrath to read all your posts about LC basketball?  I'm usually pretty mild-mannered, but if I was the LC Coach, I'd be quite upset with you.  You're old enough to make your own decisions, but I believe you should back off a bit on some of the information you divulge on this board.  I'll be amazed if some of the things you've posted don't come back to haunt you.  It's OK and certainly understandable for you to be passionate about LC basketball, but you have a unique role as an "insider."  That's not just a privilege, it's a responsibility - enjoy it and use it wisely.

picks for 12/3:
Guilford
EMU
HSC
VW
W&L( I'm sticking with my team) We were up on R-M last year in the 2nd half at R-M.
This year, why not up at the end of a home game?

Scottie- i recall a D3 team beating a D1 team...Williams over Holy Cross about 3 years ago i believe...that same Holy Cross team went onto the NCAA tourney and gave a big scare to Kansas in the 1st round, remember? I think Williams was playing to win and I dont think they gave a damn about the money..thats why their a successful team..

The "Around The Nation" column by Mark Simon, was very good.  As a Lincoln Alumn, I hope the Lions continues what has been a successful start to the season.

I hope the transfers will help as oppose to disrupting the teams chemistry.  Coach Yuille was correct in that Lincoln has more offensive weapons this year compared to last year with just Jarrett Kearse, and Kyle Myrick.

I hope the Lions cand hold off the Yellow Jackets a second time when the travel to Ashland VA for the tourney at R-MC.

I agree, it is a good story.  I'm a Guilford alumnus and I spoke to some folks affilliated with the Quakers after they lost to Lincoln by nine last season.   This is certainly subject to some debate, but some of the players said they thought LU might be the second-best team they faced in 2004-05 behind DI UNC-G.

Steely-
No the Eagles aren't exactly one of the top teams and their skills really aren't showing at all.  However, when I said that Bridgewater played down to their level, let me clarify.
I think part of the reason Bridgewater only lost to JMU by 10 points (besides the fact that JMU isn't the greatest D1 AA team this year) is that they were much more pumped up for that game.  It was a game a lot of these guys never though they would be able to play and I think that the intensity and hype was far above normal.
As for the first two losses, these were non-ODAC teams.  I think Bridgewater went into the game with a lot less hype.  More of a...whatever I didn't even know these schools existed before I came here.
As for W&L, Bridgewater had it in their heads that they were going to beat them, and so they sort of stepped out onto the court with an attitude of...well here we go again; let's just get this win over with.  They had no intensity and no excitement when they went out there.
It isn't good that the level of competition or the name of the team makes a difference in the Eagle's performance, but it is appearing that way.  Bridgewater needs to find a way to get wound up every game.

....perhaps when the football team has finally finished (maybe when they when the stag bowl   :))...they will have a little more of a crowd to be cheering them on and boosting their home game spirt.  until then they just gotta find something else to liven up their game)

Emory travels to Farmville today to take on Hampden-Sydney at 2pm tommorrow.  Its gonna take a great effort from Emory to pull this one off on the road.  From years past, the Tigers have been very well coached and seem to use their homecourt as a huge advantage.  Seems as if Reasback and Bland are the focal point of the offense as of right now.  I believe the Wasps can beat anyone in the ODAC just as soon as Gary Kerns and Hank Luton start producing like they showed they could do last year.  I predict a total team effort and the Wasps pull the upset.

Okay I have made it to VA. I have been reading some things on here.. For instance its seems like steelyglen is down playing BC way to much... BC is a quality team, there is no doubt about it.. I dont think some people are giving them the respect they deserve, it will be a dog fight sat night at EMU... EMU isnt playing great and BC is a good team. None the less, they should crush EMU!! they have 1 million times the recruiting budget and a full time asst. coach, EMU barely has enough money to buy a cheeseburger for the players.. but seems to me that DEAN is getting it done...So it will be interesting to see how it all goes down SAT night at Yoder Arena...

I enjoyed the article on Lincoln and all of these subsequent posts here.  As an R-MC alumnus, I certainly hope that we can do more with you guys on our turf.  We certainly got schooled by you the first time.  Maybe I can get up to Ashland to see it.

But in the meantime, off to follow Jacket basketball like the Grateful Dead.  Lexington tomorrow and Salem on Sunday.  Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Good luck to the Quakers tomorrow.  Swat the Hornets!

ladyeagle...great post... I think you are dead on it...tomorrow night better be incentive enough to get the young Eagles fired up to play.

baselinejam...budget or no budget, assistant or no assistant...the Royals are HUGE favorites tomorrow night. They have more experience, a great home crowd, helluva nice facility...the young inexperienced Eagles hopefully can keep it interesting...no way EMU loses tomorrow night...Preseason #5 hosting preseason #7...c'mom baselinejam don't BS a BS'er... ;D
