ODACHOOPS

HSCFAN I was not accusing you of downplaying the work Vick and his staff has done to this point, I was just saying that I think that not only do people need to realize how great of a job Bubba did, they also need to realize that Dee has at this point in his career nowhere near the talent that Smith had, which is ultimately leading to the Tigers struggle.  This years watered down ODAC aside, the tigers lack of talent/depth is what is leading to there struggle.

I however have to disagree with you on the 2007 Tigers championship team though (I do not think they were an overly talented team either but were definitely a lot more talented and deeper then this years team, not to mention had some pretty good players).  Green was not a huge "light up the score board player" your right but he was a great floor general and leader who really knew how to control the tempo of the game, Lawton is a solid pg who I think has "some" of those same qualities but by no means would I say he is more of a "pure" pg then Green was. Yes Edwards was a talented and special player who especially towards the end of that 07 season was this year's version of king. In 07 king was also around and a very talented freshman he was who if you don't remember was starting games towards the end of the year over the sr prehmus because of his more consistent play.  Which left a 4 time all conference player coming in off the bench in prehmus.  Murray also started for that team and gave them that "hybrid" type player.  He was talented but by no means a overly talented player; gave them that tough, hard nosed player with that "warrior" type mentality that I think all great teams need.  When you break it down that team had 3 all-ODAC performers (and that is not counting the injured Kaase) as well as Green and Murray who should have both garnered that title as well.  That's a pretty talented team if you ask me.

HSCFAN, ODACHOOPS

It is really good to see that the passion for HSC b'ball is still there. Basically, I think everyone agrees that Coach Smith did a really good job and did not receive the credit he deserved, that following Tony was almost an impossible job, that this years team has less talent than previous teams and that Coach Vick is doing a good job now, and is the man/coach for the future. The rest of it really does not matter. HSC needs to get back to the top of the ODAC, the sooner the better. I think it will take three more years but hopefully Coach Vick will prove me wrong. I hear he is a very good recruiter, teacher & mentor.... so if all of this is true and the effort is there from the staff (and it will be) hopefully HSC will be back where it was in short order. That being said, lets enjoy the ride along the way and watch this team mature and improve. Cheers, I've got to get back to work !!!!

I'm always nervous when the Jackets and Tigers get after it.  Even the blood drive! ;D

You need to sit back and smell the roses now because the day is coming (sooner than later I hope) when the Jackets are not going to be favored everytime they get together. Hope the game is well played and competitive.
I can remember some recent games @ RMC that where anything but.
Good luck. I wish I could be there to pull for the Tigers !!!!

In no way was I trying to say that Vick is doing a terrible job! Coming into a program and not having the chance to bring in your players is a nearly impossible situation, and he has molded that offense to suit his personnel. Just like some of the other ODAC teams, it will take time for everything to gel. When it does, H-SC will be back where they are accustomed to being. I was simply showing that this is a process and, in a way, trying to make sure that people give Vick time while also showing that Bubba didn't do a bad job himself. Vick has had injury issues with Karlis, but Kaase was lost for 80% of 2006-07 and Murray for 65-70% of 2007-08...so injuries are just part of the game. Anyways, sorry for bringing that up, I just thought it was interesting to see all of the numbers together and I obviously don't have the charm of an Algernon when spitting out statistics and facts!

As for tomorrow night, the key to the game, in my opinion, will be the Tigers' ability to get to the foul line. With the R-MC defense as stingy as I have ever seen it, H-SC does not figure to get too many open looks. They will have to create scoring opportunities by attacking and getting to the free throw line, serving two purposes: A) getting free buckets with the clock stopped and B) hopefully getting the likes of Boris Varela, Jordan Brown, and Justin Short into foul trouble.

Varela, I'm assuming, will once again be tabbed to guard Turner King. As of late, teams have begun to be more physical with Turner to wear him down both physically and mentally. H-SC will need one or two more players (preferrably two) to step up and relieve some of the pressure off of King, because you can bet that the bigger Varela will be inside of King's shirt from tip to final buzzer.

Never have I seen the Tiger elite posters so defensive! My God, people...it's Randolph-Macon against Hampden-Sydney.....the Tigers will be jacked up.... a barn burner in Ashland on Wednesday....Turner King will probably score 80 points and grab 55 rebounds and become ODAC Player of the Century.......however,  Yellow Jackets win by 5 in Crenshaw!

ODACHOOPS

Relaxxx yj424...no one is in "defense mood" its simply called having a passion for your program combined with making sure other posters understand your post and don't interpret it the wrong way...I can sense your sarcasm and frustration on how much hype and praise Turner King is getting, and deserving it all is.  But don't worry no one has over looked rmc's prize gem Justin short either..He will probably go for 70 pts and throw out 30 asst tonight and get runner up to king for ODAC player of the century.

I'm ready for hoops, too!  Any LC fans coming to GC tonight?  Hopefully, I can also watch some of Davidson at Duke!  I'm sure the Crazies will be ready for Curry!  BTW, has anyone seen his younger brother play at Liberty this year?  I hear he's putting up 20 ppg as a freshman.

I didn't know Curry's brother was at LU, but I don't get over to that side of town too often.

Seth Curry is #30 for the Flames.   I just looked up his stats:  in 16 games he's put up 319 points (19.9 ppg) and averages a little over 35 minutes.  Liberty's 10-6.  A lot of news reports say Stephen asked Seth to come to Davidson, but I guess he wanted to establish his own identity.
