Jacketlawyer- kinda ashamed to say this but this is 1 game this year I will not be at, but I will be at cameron indoor for duke vs davidson.  since i wont be at crenshaw today i plan on doing everything i can to get to hsc for the rematch.  its always tough for me to pick between duke and rmc but i cant pass up seeing curry as he is 1 player i have not seen yet.

That's cool!  8)

Been to Cameron a few times and I know how hard the tickets are to get.  Though R-M and H-S tickets can be hard too!

You're obligated to go to the rematch however! ;D

and hasanova i saw seth play in a game earlier this year.  he hit a game winner in someones face.  he is a lot like his brother.  scores a lot but he also shoots a lot and not a lot of help on the defensive end.  but still suprised hes at liberty.

Let the game begin!  Good luck to all the superstars on both teams... and let's have no injuries tonight.
GO JACKETS!

I've been laying low since the B'water debacle. That game scared me. I began questioning my view of The Gennies. They won their New Year's tourney in Lexington & dispatched Goucher. Those 3 wins were expected though. Tonight they put away EMU that had been 3-0, in Harrisburg. ODAC road wins against a quality opponent always make me feel better.

Keep it up Generals! You have a lot of road games coming up.

Guilford 103, LC 60 in Greensboro - a lot of Clay, but a good mix.
W&L 82, EMU 74 in Harrisonburg - leaders are starting to shake out.
VWC 61, Randolph 54 in Virginia Beach - surprisingly close.
Roanoke 101, E&H 86 in Emory - #22 Maroons avoid a "trap" game.
RMC 79, HSC 59 in Ashland - Jackets are starting to live up to preseason hype.
BC - DNP  ODAC needs a 12th team so everyone plays, especially on Saturdays!

Now, for the game I saw.  LC's in transition - but they got two helpings of humble pie - 53-36 in the 1st and 50-24 in the 2nd.  The Hornets hung tough until 21 all, then, Boom!, it's 41-23.  The Quakers substituted liberally and 13 guys scored - it was 86-51 with 13 minutes left and the subs finished it.  In reality, GC won every phase:

Shooting 55.9% to 38.6%
Threes 52.9% to 35.3%
FTs 78.3% to 52.6%
Reb 45 to 27
Assists 21 to 13
Turnovers 11 to 19
Blocks 5 to 1
Steals 9 to 5

Henson was 11/18 and put up 29.  Other Quakers in double-figures were Sanborn 16, Bonner 16, Lowder 11 and Neville 10.  Congratulations to Senior Mat Stanley for scoring his 1st points this season, a trey.

K.C. Mendez led LC with 17, followed by Sutherland 11 and Echols 9.  It really hurt the Hornets that Wooldridge fouled out - only 13 minutes and 2 points.  Wow.

Quakers move to 9-2, 2-0, while LC drops to 3-10, 1-3.

I think the Gennies will be all right.

Not so though for Lynchburg.  Guilford (at home) clobbered them, and  I think Scottie will be re-evaluating his high hopes for Lynchburg from last August.

Thanks for the report, hasanova.  I saw Mason Wooldridge's stat line was quiet.  I know he can be an impact player, but he seems inconsistent.  I was wondering if he is injured, but fouling out could explain it.

You're welcome, sludge.  BTW, Palombo notched both his 100th victory at Guilford tonight (100-49 in a little over 5 seasons) and his 200th overall win as a men's HC (200-114).  Including his stint as a women's HC, he's 338-154.  Not too bad!

Hey Nova - It's too bad that all the ODAC games now are pretty much day trips, no more overnighters, no Sunday games. Some of the best times we ever had were the Saturday/Sunday doubleheaders to Roanoke and W&L, or E&H and Guilford. We got to know the parents who traveled with the team. I don't think that's the case now. Carol and I attended the Bridgewater/VWC games at BW last Saturday. Not many VWC parents or fans were there.

Hey, JWW.  I've been thinking the same thing.  The 2-game weekend trips were an excuse to get out and "hit the road".   And with the unbalanced schedule, fans/players will only visit some schools once every two years.   I'm not a fan of the Monday night games either.  It's too bad, but Guilford and Roanoke are headed for a showdown on Jan. 12 and it'll be on a Monday.  With school in swing and work the next day, that's a long night for a visitor.  Guilford probably won't be well represented.

What's your take on the relatively close (and low-scoring) result for Randolph at Virginia Wesleyan last night?  Frankly, I was expecting the Marlins to score more and win by a larger margin.   The Wildcats seem to be improving, but I have to think VWC didn't play to Macedo's expectations.

jdubyadubya

We saw the same thing at the Bridgewater game...the Marlins had a big lead going into halftime, squandered in the second half, the Eagles got to within three, and the Marlins won it by 5. Same thing with the Randolph game. Believe it or not, they are getting a little better at finishing which they couldn't do earlier in the season. I really think it's youth rearing its ugly head...they come out strong, maybe get tired, realx a little bit and let the other team back in. I can tell that Coach Macedo has a lot more gray hairs this year!

Jacketlawyer, there's a great picture in this morning's Times Dispatch Sport section of Jordon Brown being fouled(a take down) from behind by Sydney's Ben Jessee. Both arms are completely wrapped around Brown's upper body, no attempt to go for the ball. Fortunately an intentional foul was called and the Sydney player looked baffled as to why. Great game, though. Sydney really took it to us in the first three quarters of the game.
