could be a leap but im calling now that RMC goes undefeated in odac this season

Doubt it.  Still have to play 'Noke don't we?  And we get H-S again.  AND we have to make it through the first round of the tournament.

Good morning, jacketlawyer.  I also have Jan. 31 circled on my calendar - it should be an exciting day regardless of who wins!

That's the one I'm most worried about-but theres ALOT of mines in this minefield!!At H-SC ,AT W&L,AT VWC WED Nite, for starters.....and Roanoke at home may be a problem-last yr when they came to Crenshaw I was there and we were extremely fortunate to win....besides,we're ALOT better off losing one or 2 going into the tournament.....

I haven't seen this year's version play yet, but I'm taking a leap to say, that's a big No.  Heck, Carolina (North) was declared undefeated before the season even began.

Lots of tough games and bus trips.  As for Guilford, there two teams:  one which can flat out beat Randolph-Macon, and another one which can't.  It depends on which team shows up.

R-MC's not gonna sneak up on anybody, that's for sure.

Payback tonight for HSC:  this year maybe you get to ride back through the snowstorm.

Hampden-Sydney has a video stream for all home games, however this game is being played at Guilford...

I'm going to take the leap with odacfan in calling the undefeated conference run for R-MC. I said wayyyy back in the offseason that I thought this could be done by this Macon team in this year's ODAC, and I'm not too convinced, after seeing many of the top-tier teams play this year, that this won't be done.

The remainder of the Jackets' schedule was laid out. I see just two real tests remaining, given the lack of strength in the ODAC this year as a whole. I see the game at Guilford and the game at H-SC as the two potential downfalls. Guilford, because they have a 6-10 guy in the interior that can keep possessions alive for Henson, and H-SC ONLY  because it is a rivalry game. Macon is better at four of five positions, but with the game being at H-SC in front of 2,500, that is a wild card.

They do have to play at VWC, but the Marlins are down this season and don't have an answer for Braxton inside or Short. VWC in Ashland, I don't believe, will be able to keep up.

They do have to play Roanoke, but again, this game is at home, where I don't see R-MC losing this season.

I think it is very, very possible...I will be the first to step in and say that I was wrong if it doesn't happen (although as a Tiger fan, I would love to see them come into Fleet Gym at 15-0 and leave 15-1!)...

I'll put on the mantra of Tony Kornheiser on PTI and play the percentage game...

"90% chance that the Jackets go undefeated in regular season conference play!"

HSC/Guilford is one of the games on our front page scoreboard with video links.

Thanks, good to know.  Fortunately, for me, I can go in person, but it's a nice option for those who can't.  I'm really looking forward to the game!

I'll make some assumptions, but let's apply some simple probability to RMC's chances of winning the last 10:

1-21 @ VWC  The Marlins are down, but call it 70% chance for RMC on the road.
1-24 Randolph Let's say 98% chance RMC will win at home.
1-28 @ W&L Let's say 70% chance RMC will win on the road.
1-31 @ Guilford I'll favor RMC a bit even on the road - call it 55%.
2-4 Roanoke Home game - good team - call it 60% in favor of RMC.
2-7 @ Lynchburg Road game, so call it 95%.
2-9 W&L At home, bump it up to 80%.
2-11 @ Bridgewater The Jackets will be favored - call it 90%.
2-14 VWC Home game, bump it up to 90%.
2-18 @ HSC Road game, but I'll still say 55% RMC.

The probability of winning all ten, then, is:

.7 x .98 x .7 x .55 x .6 x .95 x .8 x .9 x .9 x .55 = .05365

So, 5.4% or one chance in about 19.  This is why teams only go undefeated in conference play once every generation or so!

donho

odac1225,  It ain't gonna happen!!
While I think RMC has a very nice team when everything is clicking, they are not head and shoulders above VWC, HSC,Guilford or Roanoke. I think they can beat all of these teams and should, however I also think these teams have a shot at upending the jackets.

rmc1982

I agree DonHo!! we WILL lose one or more of those games-just hope it isnt wed nite when me and some of my Hampton Roads SAE frat bros go to the Fish Tank!! You still goin'?.....We usually aren't hard to spot..... :P...We're the ones Mike Rhoades is usually turnin around and tellin' to shut up b4 we get a T.. ;)....see ya wed....
