Loved that one, hasanova.  Kind of a rappish rhythm.

I'll bet you a nickel Guilford doesn't overlook Bridgewater.
Thanks, sludge.  You've heard of Fifty Cent?   Instead of "Fiddy", I'm more like "Slug."  :)  I don't think Guilford will overlook anyone.  Coach Palombo definitely remembers (and there are several players on this team who remember) the first round debacle at the 2007 ODAC tournament.  Ouch!

Amazing to me, as well, that R-MC is not in the Top 25. Winners of 11 straight, including a dominating performance over then-No. 13 Ursinus. But I'm sure the Jackets will be in their rightful spot in due time, just a shame that they have to wait so long to get there.

Also a shame for VWC tonight, as I'm sure this snub will be added motivation for Rhoades and Co.!

I also find it amazing that Roanoke stayed in the Top 25 after losing at home to Washington and Lee. The Maroons haven't really played a tough schedule to get to 14 wins (a home win over Guilford the exception to that rule). When it comes down to it, 14-2 is 14-2, but when you look at their schedule, Roanoke has been very fortunate to come away with a lot of those wins, barely edging a number of teams and winning a few in overtime against teams they should beat.

I guess a lot of this comes as frustration of a Tiger fan that saw his team fall at Roanoke by 5 early in the year, a game that H-SC may just as well have won. Also, with 'Noke winning so many close ones, they appear to be the anti-Tigers of 2008-09, as five of H-SC's 8 losses have come by a total of 10 points!

After seeing both teams, Randolph-Macon is a much more talented, deep, and disciplined squad from top to bottom. The cream will rise...

By tournament time, Roanoke will probably be seeded no higher than #3.  My bet on tournament seedings -- and I certainly am not being very specific! .... :

#1 - Winner of the Guilford/Randolph-Macon game
#2 - Loser of the Guilford/Randolph-Macon game
#3 - Roanoke/VWC/HSC/W&L
#4 - Roanoke/VWC/HSC/W&L
#5 - Roanoke/VWC/HSC/W&L
#6 - Roanoke/VWC/HSC/W&L
#7 - BC/E&H/EMU
#8 - BC/E&H/EMU
#9 - BC/E&H/EMU
#10 - Winner of the next Lynchburg/Randolph game
#11 - Loser of the next Lynchburg/Randolph game

The game in the Fish Tank scares the devil out of me tonite-VWC is DUE-VERY DUE-for a big game, especially at home where they've never been very kind to us in the Macedo era.Plus Macedo's ALWAYS got his kids ready for us-they always seem to play their best against us wherever the game is. The good thing for us is that we've got senior leadership in Short and Verela, plus the athleticism of Jordan Brown who always seems, once or twice a game,to come out of nowhere to swat shots away at critical times ,then uses it as a catylist for fast break ops.Plus we have Brandon Braxton inside so we can take a few more chances defensively with him as a safety valve inside....So who's gonna win tonite?.....Well, we've got the best chance to beat them we've had in a few years but with a young team like they have-at home with a raucious crowd- who knows? We won't be easily rattled even if we get down early but if they can withstand Mike Rhoades' 40 minutes in your face pressure and get a few easy buckets then anything can happen...It's gonna be a GREAT game tonite however it turns out....... I'm hoping Jackets by a score of 78-73.....Short hits clutch free throws down the stretch.......

I agree with your early view. You don't want to be the 6th seed 'cause you'll have a play in game. For tournament purposes there isn't any difference between 4 & 5. So the fight should be on for the coveted 3 slot. Hopefully the Generals will be the there.

I think Virginia Wesleyan's due as well.  I'm really glad both GC/VWC games are in the books!  Wish I could see the VWC/RMC game in person tonight!

Looking at Algernon's picks, I hope he's right on the #1/#2 slot and I like Guilford's chances with one game versus RMC at home.  However ... I'm not convinced Roanoke isn't still in the #1 mix although I'm equally glad GC's remaining game with the Maroons is in Greensboro.  Guilford, obviously, cannot stumble on the road against BC, E&H, EMU, HSC and LC (which, of course, is entirely possible!), but the Quakers should be at least slight favorites in all five.   Guilford gets Roanoke, RMC, W&L and Randolph at home, so all in all, the schedule's as favorable as I could hope for.

GO JACKETS!!!!

Good luck to all the players for a great game.

HSCfan jumping out on the preverbial limb once again...

...it's not close in The Tank! R-MC 75, Virginia Wesleyan 58!

Get those 16-0 shirts into the initial design process :)

I agree, I think RMC saturates the fishtank.  This year's version of VWC won't handle tremendous pressure.

Contrary to my wishes.

Halftime Eagles 38, Quakers 32

Also, the last I heard, VWC over RMC 28-17

Sludge, you can avoid the 'idiot' label by using the Greenspan line: 'irrational exuberance'! ;D

BC up 62-56 with 3:07 to go.  Quakers were down 13.  HSC was up over LC 30-20 at the half, but I have no other updates.

Quakers have stormed back from a 60-47 deficit to trail by 65-64 with 35.9 seconds to go.  Eagles are going to send Trawick to the line - first is in, second is in - 67-64 Eagles.

Bonner misses a three for GC, then Quakers foul Rice on the rebound.  BC's Rice makes both, then GC's Henson with layup with 2 seconds left.   69-66 BC.

Quakers steal the inbound pass, but miss a long three at the buzzer.

Final:  BC 69, GC 66  I was dreading this game!
