ladyeagle,
That's about as good a smile as coach Leatherman generally musters for a photography.  If you want "stoked", see my picture of Jack Whitcomb, the volunteer assistant for Randolph-Macon.

For more information on Mr. Whitcomb, I would kindly refer everyone to last Sunday's Richmond Times-Dispatch.  Mr. Whitcomb was a basketball standout for R-M in the late forties-early fifties.  The article was written by Jennings Culley.  A good, unbiased look at the class of Coach Rhoades' program.  We are lucky to have Coach Rhoades and Coach Whitcomb.

I'm ready for big games tomorrow night from Halkitis, Al White, Mumper, Bienemann, Femi, and the rest of the Generals.   Halkitis is the story though as he drops 25, has 8 assists, and 0 turnovers in the Generals win.
Want a side bet?  :)  I'm putting my "RC Cola and Moon Pie" wager on the Quakers tomorrow night.

Hampden-Sydney's basketball team has moved to 24th in the D3hoops.com top-25 week two poll.  The ranking marks the first top-25 ranking for the Tigers since earning a No. 10 rating in the final poll of the 2003-2004 season, when the Tigers had 5 seniors among their "Starting 6."

The Tigers have now won 16 of their last 19 games dating back to the 2004-05 season.

Randolph-Macon drops from #11 to #12 after a 3-1 week, with the Yellow Jackets' only loss coming at the hands of a very talented Lincoln squad.  Meanwhile, Lincoln moves into the Top 25 at the #23 spot, just above the Tigers.

After H-S hung 130 on E&H last week, I'd hope so!!

Jacketlawyer - I have marked Jan. 25 and Feb. 8 on my calendar!  I wish the Tigers and Quakers could get a weekend game instead of always playing on a Wednesday.  It's too far on a weeknight, but I'd love to make the trip to Tiger town!

Hasanova--I'll be going to see R-M play H-S on January 11th.  H-SC's Fleet Gym is a pretty great place to see a game.  I'd recommend it if you can go when convenient.

Of course, I've only been there to see R-M play H-S, and our rivalry is a little more intense.  Since our football team has been on the skids for the last five years, we've had to become a bit more ardent about basketball.  But if you didn't already know, our rivalry with H-SC goes back 110 years (longer than Army-Navy, which clocks in at 106).

R-M plays your Quakers in Greensboro on January 29th.  Never seen a game at Guilford.  Lynchburg is only two hours away from G'boro and I may make the trip down.

Of course this depends on how much work I've gotta do! ;D

Yeah, the Jackets and the Quakers had two "pretty intense games" last year as well.  The Quakers were fortunate enough to win both or should I say plain lucky to win the game in Ashland?!  Ninety-footer with 0.6 seconds to go off a missed free throw ... piece of cake!  Of course, in my opinion, the Quakers had it in regulation and let it get away.  :)  I need to make it to both Fleet and the newly-renovated Crenshaw.

I did know about the long-standing football rivalry between RMC & HSC.  If I remember correctly, this fall might have made 111.  That's fantastic!.  (ESPN said Minnesota and Wisconsin are at 115, which is the most, but you guys are near the top.)

Guilford has a distinctive field house and a beautiful campus.  The gym is just like the one at Amherst and sometimes you can see glimpses of the interior and exterior on their site and on Guilford's.  January 29 is on a Sunday, so come on down!  If you're coming to the game, let me know and I'll be glad to show you the campus.   Hopefully, we'll have a good crowd to counter the Jacket boosters!

Hasanova--yeah, I remember "The Shot."  While I was not at that game, the actual shot made CNN the next morning.  I just about soiled myself. :o
Is that kid still on Guilford's roster?

If I'm able to get down there to Greensboro, I will definitely let you know.  Everyone who posts on this service seems pretty cool so far!

Yes, #21 Jordan Snipes is a Junior starting at Guard.  That game was also his career high with 34 points.  His younger brother, #40 Justin, is a freshman reserve this year.  I was listening to last January's game on the net and I had a reaction similar to yours.  lol  Not surprisingly, Guilford got a lot of press out of that and kept the link on their website for quite a while.  Let me know if you make the trip to Greensboro - I'd be glad to give you a tour.

If Roanoke takes another scoring holiday for an extended time during tonight's game against Bridgewater, they could give encouragement to the Eagles to spring the upset.  Giving Bridgewater hope, especially at home, is not a good idea.  The Maroons need to take care of business to get back in the win column before the holiday break.
