ODACHOOPS

I don't know if I would say that POY is wideeee open?? "wideeeee open" to me means that anyone could up and win the award.  Maybeeeee 4 people are in the running for it and I still think that is a stretch.  King, Short and certainly Henson with his hot streak would be the top 3 that are above everyone else and id through Perry into the mix just because his #'s are up there.  I don't think a 3 man race (maybe 4) is necessarily wideee open..still think with Shorts team most likely to finish top 1-2 and with him being the Sr. he will ultimately take home the award.  Just don't see anyone else making a push for the award.

Jackets survive  74-66...hit most of their FT in the end....VWC in Crenshaw next....we can play better and have to 2 be a Tourney Survivor........all in all...a  good win..........Go Jackets

Geez!!In no way was I trying to overlook Bridgewater, especially when its @ their place!! Just a slip on my part-that's gonna be another in a tough late season string for us!!.....Go Jackets!

We need to man-up and close the road gigs.  We don't have any home games in Salem.

Jacketlawyer,

I've always considered the Salem Civic Center our home away from home.  Other than Roanoke, I've never seen another team bring the number of fans that HSC does.  The Sydney section is always packed and I know that the Salem Ruritans love to see HSC and Roanoke advance deep in the tourney because it increases revenue!  A few games left before I even need to think about Salem though!

I agree, Brian.  Roanoke supports Hampden-Sydney very well as does Lynchburg.  I once saw an interview with J.J. Redick and he was sporting a Tigers basketball tee shirt. :)

I think we pull more support from the VA Beach area and NoVa, but the proximity is the cause of that, I believe. 8)

Unless he and the Tigers finish with a flurry, I can't help but think that King and HSC have "played their way out of" a POY contender.

I see him coming from Guilford (Henson), RMC (Short) or Roanoke (Peery) unless someone else scorches the stat lines the last two weeks, puts his team on his back and "carries" them to the title or a near miss.

Jacketlawyer...

J.J. Redick used to come to H-SC with the Cave Spring team for team camp.  I worked some of those camps around his sophomore and junior years, and needless to say, he was the best thing there.  I can remember in the camp three point contest, he won going away... shooting from NBA range even then.

Well, my night's planned:  GC at EMU on the net at 7 pm and Carolina at Duke on TV at 9!  It should be an interesting night.  Go Quakes!

ODACHOOPS,
Perhaps the way you look at wide open is correct. What I was saying is that I feel that as of right now no one has a lock on POY. As a matter of fact this may be one of those years where I might put the POY award backin the closet and keep it for next year. To me (and this is only my opinion , dumb as I my be) no one has really stood out in the ODAC this year. I am sure I will receive some nastiness for this but it is how I see it.

Don, I would agree with you.  No one is head and shoulders above the rest.  As to the Jackets, I've only seen them once this year in person and several times on video.  But, I don't see the discipline that I'm use to from a Rhoades' team.  Defense is inconsistent, lot's of easy basket by the opponents.  And on offense, it's not the crisp movement I've known.  This team has so much talent, not seeing it on the floor or in the record.  Lot's of depth and talent on this team, they should be performing better.

X marks the spot.  Well said.  In fact I was extremely disappointed with Saturday's effort.

I agree wholeheartedly 78rmc-when I've seen them in person or live via the internet they just seem to lack that Mike Rhoades killer instinct we're used to seeing from our guys-there IS more talent than I've seen us have in a long time but there isn't that fire....Mike doesen't have much time to whip them into shape-we'll see what tonite's game brings.....

Well. just shoot us but we think Justin Short plays his head off every time he steps on the court.  He never quits trying to make a play or make a basket, is R-MC's top scorer and let's not forget those assist stats.

Sure, there is SOME inconsistency of performance by this team but.... GO JACKETS!!!!  (We haven't missed a home game all season and have seen some great defense against some VERY tough teams.)

Best of luck to both teams tonight for a great game!

I can't get the Bridgewater audio feed from their website and d3hoops hasn't posted the score....anybody know what's going on?its gotta be halftime by now.....

Hey, RMC fans, don't get me wrong, I hope Justin wins POY, but it's not the commanding performance of past POYs.
