This saturday will show us if this team has what it takes to win the big games. Yes I said big game cause I  half-way beleive that VWC has our number! Come on Jackets show your nads and blow em out of Crenshaw.

Should be a good one, and worth the trip to Ashland, but can't make it.  Will stream it instead! :)

DonHo- I'm sure we've all been wondering the same thing as you-we'll see what they've got on Saturday......I can't make it,either-It's Valentines Day and ,being in the LOVE biz(not a pimp just a jeweler!!) I have to work-I will also stream it..I noticed, though, that the last game was PPV....Didn't know we were now charging for it...

OK, we're in the "short rows" of the ODAC regular season as they say in the hill country tobacco fields ... the short rows are at the edge, you see, go a lot quicker than the long ones and mean you're almost done!

RMC, 12-2, has VWC in Ashland on Saturday and finishes up next Wednesday night at HSC.

Guilford, 11-2, has three more games:  at LC on Saturday, at E&H on Wednesday and Randolph in Greensboro next Saturday.

Who's going to win it?  Will we be waiting until the 21st to find out?

As an outsider looking in, I don't think Macon fans have too much to worry about come Saturday afternoon. I predict that Coach Rhoades will have his charges primed and ready to take down Virginia Wesleyan, who closes with the Jackets and Tigers, and could still finish anywhere from 6th to 8th in the final standings. This is big, because I believe the 6-seed is one in which a team could make a serious run at the tournament title by avoiding R-MC and Guilford until the semifinal round (seeds 3-5 seem to be toss ups to me).

Nevertheless, with all of that on the line, I feel that the Jackets are just too talented and playing too well right now to have another slip up like the one they had at the beach...

...of course I could be working the H-SC jinx on you guys ;)

On the Bridgewater site, I saw Oblitey on the roster.  Maybe he was just DNP for that game so he wasn't listed in the stats.  Anyway I hope he's fine.  He sure has fine hops.

What time is the VWC/RMC game on Saturday? I've heard 2 and I've heard 7... anyone know?

He is listed on  the on line roster but not last night's game program.

Oblitey is no longer on the team due to a violation of college policy but is still on track to graduate.

How about Ben Jessee for Freshman of the Year?  The young man is averaging 9.8 ppg (13.0 in ODAC games).  Hits .376 (44 of 117) from behind the arc and .867 from the FT line.

Certainly have to think seriously about Quinton McDuffie, who has 13.9 ppg and 6.6 rebounds/game.  Can't be counted on from the free throw line, though (.590).

Who else should be considered?

I agree, algernon ... Jessee and McDuffie are having fine rookie seasons.

I don't think his numbers are FOY-worthy, but Gabriel Lowder has been a very big contributor to Guilford's 18-4 season.  GC Coach Tom Palombo believes in leadership by upperclassmen, so Mat Stanley's been the starter in all 22 games, but Lowder is usually the first sub ... often in just a few minutes ... and has played in all 22 games:

FG 50/106 .472
3's 14/36 .389
FT 24/34 .706
Pts 138  6.3/ppg
Reb 18-33=51 2.3/rpg
PF 38 FO 0
A 18
TO 26
Stl 14

Gabriel Lowder will be a name ODAC fans hear more about over the next few years.

That's too bad ... the Eagles will miss Oblitey ... I know he's always been a tough player when BC met GC!

derrick woods-morrow has been an excellent player for the WildCats this season and without a doubt should be mentioned in ROY conversation. At only 6'4", the kid has established himself as one of the premier rebounders in the league and has been an extremely efficient player on the offensive end as well, coverting baskets at a high percentage while rarely turning the ball over and getting to the foul line at a high rate.

He has seven double-doubles, which is tied for second in the ODAC with Curtis Peery. He scored 21 at macon and has nine game with 10 or more rebounds, which is second in the conference and two ahead of Peery. His 16 rebounds against Ferrum is the third highest single game total in the ODAC this season.

Currently ranks 22nd in scoring (11.2) which is the second highest amongst all freshmen. Second in the ODAC in rebounding (8.7), with the closest person behind him being Mason Wooldridge at 7.4. He is third in FG% at .590, eighth in blocks (.81), first in offensive rebounds (3.76), and fifth in defensive rebounds (4.90), yet he only ranks 25th in minutes played with 25.95 minutes a game. His ranks are equally as high in odac-only games, so it's not like he's been racking up his numbers against scrub teams like Patrick Henry College.
