I hadn't thought of it that way, narch, but you're right!  The majority of the players on Guilford's team are North Carolinians, but thanks George Neville and others for coming down south to play some hoops!   Thanks for rooting for the Quakers.  When the Monarchs make the trip, I'll be rooting for them too.

Dave (McHugh), you made the call on Snipes' 3-ball to tie Lincoln, didn't you?  :)

HSC85

Congrats to the Quakers.  You overcame long trips and hostle environments.  Good luck at Salem.

I did indeed!!! I actually kind of went back to that call as I called Henson's shot. I just couldn't resist. I unconsciously said "HE HIT IT!" and then thought... you said that when Snipes did it and said it two more times... so I said it two more times!!! :)

Both shots caught be off-guard for different reasons... and both shots have made me decide that there should be a clause in my "contract" when calling Guilford games. If the Quakers are down three with just seconds left and they have possession... I should be allowed to call the shot good, even though no one has taken a shot, yet, and declare the game is heading to overtime... just so I am more prepared! :)

It works for me!  I wish that scenario was always true, but so far, so good.  With Salem relatively close to Greensboro (2 hour drive), I'll be willing to bet Snipes and some of the other Quakers from 2007 will be in the stands.  Ben Strong will still be playing pro ball in Israel, but I know he and the others are very interested "fans"!

Resist the formula, my man. Remember those two big Ton Ton Balenga threes I called the year before? Different, so you definitely know which one you're listening to if you're familiar with them. :)

Mr. Nova, I will be there on Friday as well.  I know you posted that you are 'buying your ticket.'  What is the deal with tickets to the Final Four in Salem?  Do we need to buy ahead of time and if so how, or will there be plenty at the gate if we buy the day of?  Anybody that knows I would appreciate the advice,  I would hate to miss the game due to a sell out.  I also wanted to say congratulations to Mat Stanley.  Mat doesnt get much love on the boards and I understand why.  He plays 6 minutes a game and his statistics arent much, but Mat is a huge part of the Guilford team.  He has started in all 30 games and is ever a presence in practice.  As a former player at Guilford I know that no one loves the game more than Mat, and no one plays it harder in practice than Mat. He is someone that has never complained about minutes, and understands his role. Best of luck to Mat and the rest of the Quaks come Friday.  On a side note Nova Mat told me it looks like they are getting some busses together to bring fans up.  Hopefully a lot of students will make it, it would be nice to have a 'home court' advantage.

Pat Coleman

Likely plenty at gate but never hurts to get better seats by calling early.

coopersharpe - I was going to recommend a link, which I see Pat Coleman has attached in his post.  There looks to be several ways to get tickets ... hopefully, it includes "will call".  I'm hoping Guilford will have some on sale at the school over the next day or so ... if so I'm going to buy there.

$20 for all four games (both sessions) in advance.
$12 for two games (one session) in advance.
$15 for two games (one session) at the gate.

With Guilford two hours away, RSC in NJ and F&M in PA ... I think there will be some strong demand ... and WU is the defending champ.  I'm going to get my ticket in advance just to make sure.  If there's some way I can help you, leave me a PM.

BTW, I think sludge may be going ... if you want to carpool, let me know.

Re:  Mat Stanley ... you're absolutely right.  I've never talked to Mat personally, but I'd like to.  I've met his parents at a GC game and once at Methodist a few years ago ... nice people who understand how big his heart is, especially when it comes to basketball and the team.  Coach Palombo understands that too!

Pat, on this link, in the middle of the screen, it says Saturday's games start at 12:30 and 3, but on the right side of the same screen, it says 1:30 and 4.  Do you know which is correct?

TO ALL THE GUILFORD FAITHFUL: Congratulations on making it to Salem and good luck vs. Washington University. You are going to have a blast in Salem. In addition to a lot of energy in the Salem Center, remember to check out Mac & Bob's for dinner. That was our favorite hang out while in Salem. Good luck Quakers! Now is a really good time to bring back the National Championship to the ODAC ;D

Thanks, jww.  I've corresponded with a few Quaker supporters ... I think there will definitely be some fan support in Salem.  Plus, as coopersharpe (a former Quaker player) wrote, the college is arranging some transportation for students.  It will be fun!

coopersharpe .... FYI

Guilford's putting tickets on sale today at 3 pm ... first floor of Alumni Gym.  I have a 1:30 appointment ... not sure how long it'll last, but I'm going by as soon as I can.

Let's hope the Spirit of '73 is alive!  Go Quakers!
