I also wanted to say congratulations to Mat Stanley.  Mat doesnt get much love on the boards and I understand why.  He plays 6 minutes a game and his statistics arent much, but Mat is a huge part of the Guilford team.  He has started in all 30 games and is ever a presence in practice.  As a former player at Guilford I know that no one loves the game more than Mat, and no one plays it harder in practice than Mat. He is someone that has never complained about minutes, and understands his role. Best of luck to Mat and the rest of the Quakes come Friday.

You've got it about Matt Stanley, coopersharpe.  And its cool that Matt Stanley and George Neville will graduate as probably the winningest Quakers in Guilford's D3 history.

Always a possibility when you're successful, I guess!  Hopefully, Coach will stick around ... he's doing a great job at Guilford!

I've been rounding up folks to go to Salem ... Quaker Nation will make some noise!

Thanks.  I've been around for one national MBB championship ... two would be super!

You guys can do it.

Have fun and enjoy the ride.

I have fond memories of watching HSC in two final fours. We didn't win but what a great experience/weekend.

Safe travels. What time do you guys play on Friday ? I might ride over, catch the game and hang out in the bar at the Hotel Roanoke afterwards.

Thanks, tfa.  I'm looking forward to it.  Guilford plays Washington U. at 5 pm.  There is a reception for Guilford alumni, parents, Quaker Club members and friends in Salon C at the Civic Center starting at 3 pm.   If you come, stop by ... you'll be welcome!

Thanks for the invite. If I come I'll be wearing a HSC hat and a GC sweatshirt. You'll spot me from miles away !!!!!

GC has always been easy for me to pull for, except when they are playing HSC of course.

HSC fans are with you guys this weekend.

Give'em hell.

You're welcome.  I'll find you.  I'm 6'1"/180 and I'm sure I'll wear some sort of GC sweatshirt ... but that attire will be a lot of folks in Salon C.  lol  Thanks for rooting for Guilford ... I understand the sentiment when they're playing the Tigers!  Being a native Virginian, I could easily have ended up at an ODAC school in the Old Dominion if life hadn't taken a little bit of a turn when I was a teenager.

I'm sure Coach Palombo and his staff will have the guys ready to play.  If you can't get up for this, what can you get excited about?!

Go Quakers!

with all due respect to those that choose the team (and the odac posters and guilford fans)...rumley is a better player than henson (both in person and on a stat sheet) - he scores as well as henson and he's a better rebounder, passer and defender...the only thing henson does better is shoot threes - henson is a fantastic player, but if he's a first team all-region player, rumley should be something better than first-team :)

that said, congrats to all of these players for their accolades and good luck to gcq...bring home a title, boys!

narch - I've seen Henson play many times and I've seen Rumley play about a half dozen games ... I also know JR's HS coach who raves about him.  I also think he deserved better ... at least second team ... and I certainly understand all the fans who would petition for him to be first team.  Rumley's got an all-around great game!  Anyone who saw him carry the Cougars on March 6-7 versus Centre and Guilford knows exactly what I mean.

pbrooks3

Rumley is one the best looking all-around D3 players I've seen play. The only thing I noted he was missing in Averett's win at Centre was a 3-point game and a stronger supporting cast. Much of the time, he played like a D1 player. He was the best player Centre faced this season.

I know that we are all excited about the Final Four and Guilford, but I just wanted to remind everyone that the USAC-ODAC challenge is this Sunday at HSC.  The games (men's and women's) are free.  The women play at 1:00 and the men after that.  It will be a busy weekend for Palombo as he is the head coach for the team!

Thanks.  I had honestly forgotten about the game!
