Jordan Brown made the all tournament team with Justin Short taking the tourny MVP award

From odacfan1225: " Brown also had a few great blocks on other players."

The radio announcers got especially excited when Brown came for nowhere to block a wide open three that an Ursinus player was about to take. Apparently the shooter had no clue Brown was anywhere in the vicinity and the amazement must have been evident by that player's reaction. And the crowd went wild.

yea he was in the left corner and it could have been big, the kid prolly would have made it, and brown just does that a lot lol.  he came from no where and sent it to the exit of the gym

Old school fans might like to know Guilford will have a Basketball Legacy Day on Jan. 31 when the Quakers play RMC.  Four men's uniform numbers will be retired at halftime and the court in Ragan Brown Field House will be named for former Guilford basketball HC and current golf HC, Jack Jensen.  The four players honored will be Dan Kuzma '60-'64, Bob Kauffman '64-'68, M. L. Carr '69-'73 and World B. (Lloyd) Free '72-'75.  The latter three were long-time NBA players and NBA All-Stars.  Carr also played for several NBA championship teams while with the Celtics.

Playing the Yellow Jackets should be a great game anyway, but now more reasons to attend!

Say it ain't so! The ODAC portion of the season is right around the corner! In the widespread world of DIII basketball, there is no way to gauge a team's worth until it goes head-to-head against its own conference foes...

Roanoke is obviously off to the best start, but are they the best team?

It appears that Randolph-Macon is hitting its stride, and just at the wrong time for my Tigers ;) (who travel to Ashland Jan. 7!)

We will soon see what Eastern Mennonite and Bridgewater, both 2-0 in the league, are made of when they take on H-SC and VWC, respectively, on Saturday. Likewise, we will see what the Tigers and Marlins are made of as well!

So many more things that we will be able to determine in the next couple weeks, I'm just glad that I happen to be a fan of one of the most exciting conferences in the country!

Yow  :o  Enough with the preliminaries, let the games begin.

I'm interested in that Va-Wes at Bridgewater game, and all the rest.
Hoping for Hampden-Sydney to knock off Randolph Macon.  (Rooting for HS - that's how bad it is this year. ;-) )

We can lose to Hampden-Sydney and Roanoke easily.  R-M is relying on Justin Short too much to suit me (taking nothing away from him at all--he can play) from what I've read in the papers.  But if it's working, who am I to complain? ;D

Sounds like the Ursinus game was a good one.  Thanks for the update, odac1225!

No problem Jacket Lawyer.  And yes they are relying on Short a lot but trust me on this one thing, I know for a fact he is a person that they can always count on.  I dont know how to explain it but he wont let them down, he is the hardest worker alive and wants to win more then anyone.  He will do his part dont worry.

On Friday, congratulations to:

W&L for finding a win, if not a gal, versus Kalamazoo, 64-46.
Roanoke for marooning PSU-Abington in Salem, 106-55.

And the LC Hornets for, no doubt, humiliating the Ferrum Panthers at Averett, 69-64, after getting mauled by these same cats, 72-42, in Ferrum just 15 days ago!

HUGE WIN for EMU down at Hampden Sydney 70-69 final. Probably the best start at EMU in a very long time!
                  EMU               HS
FG            43.6%             41.7%
FT            66.7% 16-24   72.2% 13-18
REB           36                  36
TO            15                  13
ASST        15                  16

Sydney Started out hot in the first half shooting 45% and EMU 36%. But EMU kept the game close and was down 4 at half. Back and forth in the 2nd. EMU trailing by 8 w/ 544 left in the game went on a final run and tied it at 4 min mark. Game went back and forth until George Johnson hit a 3 with 117 left, giving EMU the 70-69 win.
Turner King 21pts  3rebs
Ben Jessee   14pts 0 rebs

George Johnson 20pts  3reb
DJ Hinson           15 pts   5reb
Todd Phillips      12pts    7reb
Orie Poncione     9pts  11reb
Leroger Parrish   10pts   2rebs

Nice starts for EMU, W&L, GC and Roanoke.  HSC, VWC and RMC have been up and down, but the Marlins and Yellow Jackets now seem to be playing where everyone expected them to be.  BC and E&H aren't dominant teams, but "scare" me ... "on any given Sunday."  I still think Lynchburg and Randolph will finish low in the ODAC, although LC got a "surprise" 5-point win over Ferrum after losing to the Panthers by 30 just two weeks ago.  Did I read this was LC's first win over FC in 30 tries?  Randolph? ... well, I predict it'll be a long year, but I do look forward to seeing them play in person.

I'm not trying to overlook games to be played over the next week, but 8-2 Guilford at 10-1 Roanoke on Jan. 12 is looming large.

According to the associative scoring rule then, Lynchburg is  35 points better than Lynchburg, which shows what kind of season they're having.
