So for all the haters out there you have awoke a sleeping giant.  Bridgewater is legit and don't question their ability.  All it took was a little fire under their a***s and you did that.  Good luck and cheer for them while they are competing for the ODAC ship.

Yep, I'm an idiot.

On a Wednesday night, the Road takes its toll.

At least I'm not enough of an idiot to be a Bridgewater hater.  I never question their threat;  any team with Trawick would worry me.

So, net-net, Roanoke moves up.

Yeah, Sludge, I must step forward as well...I think my preverbial limb snapped!! Huge win for the Marlins tonight, one that I fear may send them full tilt in the right direction!

Bridgewater always has a chance to beat anyone on a given night with Trawick and Oblitey in the lineup...I don't know of anyone who was "hating" on them on this board...

Not a pretty win for the Tigers tonight, but I'll take a win in any fashion that it comes. King went 14/15 from the foul line, Medlin put up his first career double-double with 15 and 10. I was really impressed by Steven Echols, that kid can flat out score!

Honestly, messages such as this really don't promote BC popularity.  lol   It also doesn't help when Nininger fans reach out to strike opposing players as they run by.  I do thank you for the lesson, however ... I had no idea the ODAC had a navy, much less a ship!  Congratulations on the victory ... enjoy it, because sometimes success is (and we'll stick with a nautical theme) fleeting!

Hey, interesting game at VWC tonight.  Did I see the Marlins were up by 20 in the 2nd half?  Wow!  Now there's your sleeping giant!  The Quakes had a chance to move into a three-way tie tonight, but the road can be a bear.  As I mentioned earlier in the day, I've always feared BC ... and have never underestimated their ability to pull an upset, especially at home.  With that said, I still think the Eagles will finish in the middle of the pack, but they are always a team that can get hot ... Trawick and Oblitey can fill it up!

Classic! Hasa is always sharp and witty, never disappoints! I'm sorry for the Quakers' defeat tonight, but I know Coach Palombo will have the charges ready to respond in their next outing.

Thanks, HSCfan.  I try to resist ... I really do, but in the end it's a character flaw and I have to do it.  lol  It's like shooting fish in a barrel ... or, in this case, eaglets in an aerie, I guess.  :)  Yeah, I was hopeful tonight, but always worry about a 5-hour one-way road trip on a weeknight.  Give credit where it's due, however, the Eagles played a good game.  I still think Guilford would win 75% of the time these two teams play, but in an unbalanced schedule, it's one and done!   I realize the ODAC has some scheduling issues, but a game like this should really be played on a weekend instead of sending a team on a 14-15 hour round-trip midweek.  Not an excuse, mind you, but an observation.    I'm sure Coach Palombo will use the next week to prepare his team for Roanoke.  Again, congratulations to BC!

As I said earlier I thought this might happen-The final score was not indicative of the game-yes the Fish were up by 20 in the 2nd half and for 35 minutes out of 40 they were totally dominating us-the last 5 minutes we had a furious comeback to within 4 with 42 seconds left-Fields misses BOTH free throws,Jordan Brown gets the rebound, and has it taken away by Fields whom he has to foul-this time he goes up and HITS both-....that was so indicative of the game.I haven't seen a box score yet,but even when we are down 15 if we hit 70% of our free throws we would be ahead....just lots of costly bad mistakes  for us....and definitely not to take anything away from VWC-they flat out hit their shots, outrebounded and outhustled us tonite-they deserved to win for sure.......but it wasn't as close as the final....Jackets learn a valuable ODAC lesson tonite.........and got beat by a clearly better prepared (on this nite at least)and hungrier team.

First of all "southernball" don't create a posting name and all the sudden start hoping on the Bridgewater wagon after they have one big win...I didn't see you posting when they were losing 5 of 6 before tonight.  Secondly no one said that Bridegewater sucked or that they weren't good or any other crap that you are insinuating.  Bridgewater is a good team, not a great team (regardless of the outcome tonight).  They are a tough team to play @ home but are a very average team on the road, believe it was hsc that beat them the other night by 14; they also lost to Macon by 17 and Roanoke by 13, all convincing loses.  Again they are a good team (like sludge said any team with Trawick has the potential to upset a team) but they are still not a "top odac tier team" and will not win a championship that I can promise.

southernball

There is no wagon...but there is a traewick....hop on if you like.  He is one of the most proficient ODAC players and will continue to succeed.  Stop him if you can.  For all the haters again mark my words.....see you in the tournament.   You have downed the Eagles of Bridgewater since day one.   Your day of denying them is over.  Watch out and study the film if you did not watch the game last night.  The eagles are reborn.  Learn to fly or watch the show overhead.  It's all over but the crying.

Hey all, I just had an interesting thought...

How bad is grabbing a No. 6 seed this year? I know Algernon or baselinejam brought it up earlier about how key grabbing a third-seed is, but with the way the ODAC is shaping up this year, with each team having a chance to beat any other team, I think a team with the No. 6 seed could have an inside track to make a surprising run. Think of it this way...

1. True, a No. 6 must play a play-in game, but, that game will come at home against the No. 11 seed (which looks like it may be Randolph barring a miracle). While the Wildcats have been a tough out for teams on their home floor, they pose a much smaller threat on the road.

2. Consider the NFL bye system in the playoffs. I know we are talking about a completely different sport, but a team that may not be playing its best gets the No. 6 seed, has a great performance in the play-in, and corrects the kinks in time to...

3. ...play the No. 3 seed! There is no re-seeding here, so although No. 6 must play a play-in, they get to play the No. 3 seed in the first round (which I feel will not be R-MC or Guilford). I think anyone who dons the No. 6 seed, be it H-SC, VWC, W&L, Roanoke, Bridgewater or even EMU would have a great shot at making a run from the No. 6 spot because, and most importantly...

4. YOU AVOID THE NUMBER 1 SEED UNTIL THE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME!

I think the worst seeds to get this season are the No. 4, 5, 8 and 9, because you will have to face the team that served, and still serves, as the favorite and most experienced team in the league in Randolph-Macon, who I believe will get the No. 1 seed (though, as we have just seen from last night, nothing is easy or given!).

I was afraid this was going to happen, so just thought I'd wait to see the outcome.  I don't remember the last time we won in Norfolk, but hopefully we can get a little payback at Crenshaw.

This is the seeding if the tournament were held today:

1) Roanoke
2) Randolph-Macon
3) Guilford
4) Washington & Lee
5) Eastern Mennonite
6) Hampden-Sydney (Tigers win #6 tiebreaker with wins over VWC & BC)
7) Virginia Wesleyan
8 ) Bridgewater
9) Lynchburg
10) Emory & Henry
11) Randolph

On the Tuesday play-in night, we'd have:
   Randolph @ HSC
   E&H @ VWC
   Lynchburg @ Bridgewater

RMC looked AWFUL last night at the Batten Center. VWC played well and deserved the W. I said in an earlier post that RMC was a good team but not head and shouders above the rest, last nights result proves that. Jackets it appears come into  the games I have seen ready to play only half a game. Coach has got to be tired of that. Come on guys wake up.
