Generals lead the Tigers 31-25 at half. Turner King has yet to score after picking up two early fouls and sitting for the majority of the half. Ben Jessee also picked up two in the first putting both Tiger shooters on the bench. Something to watch, King got a knee in the thigh on the first play of the game and has been hobbling around. Everything that could go wrong for H-SC has so far. Hoping for a turnaround...

BC leads EMU by 10 points at the Half.

Tigers fall by 13 in Lexington. Turner King goes 0-2 with 0 points. H-SC played its worst, absolute worst, game of the year tonight with a 9 to 17 assist to turnover ratio and giving up 52 percent shooting. But I've said all along: I am a huge fan of Adam Hutchinson because he gets the absolute most out of his players. The Generals don't have the most talent, but they have the most heart, determination, intelligence, and toughness of any team in the ODAC - hands down. Congrats on the win because it was well earned and deserved!

We were at the game in Lexington and I thought the Generals looked quite good.  Zac White did a tremendous defensive job on Turner King and the Generals .. in general .. ;) .. displayed the toughest defense I have seen to date.

They're now 11-2 over their last 13 games.  I think they could go into the ODAC tournament as the #1 seed .... and this coming Wednesday's game against Randolph-Macon will probably tell the tale.

Thanks for the kudos.

As I said last week the Generals have found their identity. They can D- up with anyone. They put the clamps on the ODAC's leading scorer and he had an 0-fer. Now that's impressive.

I understand that the season is far from over. Yet, I harken back to preseason when the usual prognosticators didn't give the Generals any respect. You all recall that W&L had 2 seniors last year, 3 the year before and 0 the year before that. This year we have 6 and they are providing the leadership and heart that Adam has been aiming for the past 5 seasons. I'm not belittling the underclassmen' contributions. White, Goetsch & Ciminio will be the core of the future . Keep it up Generals. You've made a noteworthy start in the ODAC; but still have a long way to go.

First, congratulations to yesterday's winners.  To me, two were expected (RMC over Randolph, E&H over LC), one was a toss-up (BC over EMU) and two were mild surprises ... at least to the margin of victory (W&L over HSC, VWC over Roanoke).  The Generals seem like a legitimate contender and Virginia Wesleyan certainly appears to have found a midseason groove.  Not sure what to think about Roanoke ... they lost pretty convincingly yesterday ... and at home, no less.

Man, it's tough having a late January Saturday without hoops, especially coming off a loss!  I'm really looking forward to Roanoke and RMC coming to Ragan-Brown on Wednesday and Saturday, respectively.  It concerns me that the Maroons have lost 2 of their last 3 ... which team will show up?  The Yellow Jackets, despite losing to VWC, are playing great ball.  Hopefully, the Quakers will rebound and make a good showing in both games.  At the end of the week, however, GC could be 2-0, 1-1 or 0-2 ... I simply don't know how to call them!

At any rate, I think we've narrowed it down to four teams that still have a realististic chance at the ODAC regular season title:  RMC, Roanoke, GC and W&L.  Technically, the 4-loss teams still have a shot, but I just don't see all four front-runners faltering to that degree.  Will 13-3 be good enough to win it?

Please understand, to see W&L on your list is akin to saying the Arizona Cardinals are in the Super Bowl.

Trust me, I understand.  At 5-2, however, the Generals are most certainly in the hunt.  The win over Roanoke in Salem proved to me that they're a contender.  At two losses, they're most definitely still alive.  I very much look forward to W&L's only game with Guilford, which is in Greenboro.  By that time, we should much more clearly know what's on the line!  It's a good time to be a Washington & Lee fan - enjoy!

rmc1982 - RMC certainly has the ODAC version of Tobacco Road the next 10 days with games against all three contenders ... and two of those on the road!  Your comment piqued my curiosity about the remaining schedules for all four teams:

RMC:  7-1 ... 8 played, 8 to go, but 5 of the 8 on the road.
1-28 @W&L, 1-31 @GC, 2-4 RoC, 2-7 @LC, 2-9 W&L, 2-11 @BC, 2-14 VWC, 2-18 @HSC

Roanoke:  7-2 ... 9 played, 7 to go, but 5 of the 7 on the road.
1-28 @GC, 1-31 LC, 2-4 @RMC, 2-11 @HSC, 2-14 @EMU, 2-18 @W&L, 2-21 E&H

GC:  6-2 ... 8 played, 8 to go, with 4 home and 4 away.
1-28 RoC, 1-31 RMC, 2-4 @HSC, 2-7 W&L, 2-11 @EMU, 2-14 @LC, 2-18 @E&H, 2-21 RaC

W&L:  5-2 ... 7 played, 9 to go, but 6 of the 9 at home.
1-28 RMC, 1-31 RaC, 2-4 @E&H, 2-7 @GC, 2-9 @RMC, 2-11 LC, 2-14 BC, 2-18 RoC, 2-21 EMU

Who's got the toughest schedule?  Roanoke and RMC both have 5 road games, while W&L has 6 of 9 at home.  As you noted, RMC plays all three contenders in the next 10 days!  GC plays all three contenders at home, but has several "trap" games on the road.  Roanoke has all three contenders plus HSC and EMU on the road.  W&L has two remaining games with RMC.

If any of these four teams goes 3-0 over the next ten days, they'll be in great shape!

It's gonna be REALLY interesting,Hasa, but at the same time you don't want your team to peak too quickly! I really think a #2,3,or 4 seed may win the tournament....but this is gonna be fun to watch however it plays out.....VWC is white hot right now-they may be the dark horse in all this...

rmc1982 - You hit the nail on the head! VWC is white hot and I predict they will win the remainder of their games and go into the tournament the team to beat. The Marlins started the season with tons of raw talent and over the last several weeks, Coach Macedo and his staff have molded that squad of mostly newbies into a real contender. Now they know how to finish the game.

Jim Loesel - Believe it or not I was in Lexignton this weekend visiting my sister and brother-in-law at Kendal but couldn't persuade anyone to drive an hour south to see the Marlins play Roanoke. Next year I hope!
