Here's some food for thought regarding points and current records (overall, ODAC, head-to-head) in last week's d3hoops Top 25:

Roanoke 40    (16-4, 8-3, 1-3)
Randolph-Macon 3  (14-5, 8-2, 1-2
Washington and Lee 3  (12-6, 5-4, 1-2)
Virginia Wesleyan 1   (12-8, 6-5, 3-2)
Guilford 0   (15-4, 8-2, 4-1)

Hasa-We've got to  play Roanoke wed nite in Crenshaw and I'm not sure but maybe the students are out for J-Term break(help me 2RMCFans)I and some friends are going, and its always better to see those Crenshaw Crazies hyped up for a wed nite game,as it is usually for those kids  :P ;) ;D....How we bounce back is gonna be key...and Roanoke is due to play better and they usually do against us...I saw the game in Crenshaw last year and we were VERY fortunate to win....we'll see how it goes...and GC has to go to Fleet to play those Helter-Skelter Tigers-never know which team is gonna show but EXTREMELY DANGEROUS @ home, especially for ranked or top-tier teams!!All-in-all, an interesting week!.....

Yeah, rmc1982, I was looking over the remaining schedules for all the teams.  It will be an interesting week.  I'd noticed the BIG games on Wednesday with Roanoke going to RMC and Guilford going to HSC (a very tough place to play).  You know both the Maroons and the Jackets will be "eager"!  lol  The Tigers are difficult to figure this year ... I always expect a tight game regardless of their record and last outing.  I've never been to Fleet before and I'm considering the trip ... anyone want to ride to southside VA?  :)

You're so right, lots of key games to go.  I'm worried that Guilford only has two home games in the remaining six ... versus W&L on the 7th and Randolph on Senior Day, the 21st.  Sydney on the 4th and then three straight road games versus EMU, LC and E&H after facing the Generals.  I think who wins the ODAC regular-season title will go right down to the wire, but Wednesday's RC at RMC game is a key component.  A Roanoke win and they're back in it ... a Roanoke loss and they've got 4.  RMC, of course, has got to win to keep pace with GC pending the Quakers/Tigers outcome.  Don't you love February hoops?  :)

If you think our students are CRAZY then go up to Fleet!!!Those boys are cooped up all week w/NO GIRLS ;) :P..they need to scream at SOMETHIN".......but it's a great atmosphere-if you're gonna get tripped up its probably gonna be there...we still have to go there,too-and we've won the last few so they're gonna be HYPED!!I don't know how far it is from G'Boro but its about 2 hrs from me....and I usually ride w/HSC friends(we have a friendly bet on each game in b-ball and football)...and its a LOONNG 2 hrs home after a loss!!but all in good ODAC fun,of course ;) Its worth the trip....

Yeah, I've heard about Fleet.  :)  Mapquest says 132 miles/2 hr 33 min from my door to HSC.  I'll see how the week shapes up ... that would put me getting home about 11:30 Wednesday night.  You're right, it would be a long ride home if you lost ... which is entirely possible!  The trip would be a lot more fun if I had someone else along, but that might be a tough sell on a Wednesday night.  :)

Hello, Hasanova.  I'm don't think Wednesday at Fleet Gym works for me.  I like your idea though.  I hope you get a partner on that.

Regarding an earlier discussion topic, EMU is now 6-4 in the ODAC and 12-7 overall.  They've not only at least "achieved mediocrity", but blown right through it.

Hey, sludge.  No problem ... I doubt I'll get a taker for a Wednesday HSC road trip, but the invitation's out there.

Speaking of EMU, they're very much on my radar.  That's another of those mid-week trips that's too far ... should probably be a Saturday game.  The Royals have some great wins this year ... beating WBC by 67 is one thing, but trouncing HSC by 30 gets your attention!  I think EMU's a quite formidable opponent and I know Coach Palombo and the Quakers will take the game very seriously!

Yes... R-MC students are on break this week.  I was just in the Brock Center and the campus is like a ghost town.  There will be plenty of alums, parents and friends at the game, but I'm pretty sure the student turnout will be very low.

We'll see what we can do to energize the locals to come out for the game!

GO JACKETS!!!

RMC1982,

Just wanted to clarify that you haven't won the last few at Fleet.  You won last year.  The year before that, HSC beat Macon and that started their hot streak that took them to the ODAC championship.  I always look forward to the HSC-Macon matchup because (no matter the records) the games are usually entertaining (often close, but always entertaining due to fan support).

Nova,

If you can make the trip to Fleet let me know.  If you can arrive early maybe we could meet again.

Thanks, Brian.  I'll probably wait until late Tuesday to make up my mind -  there's a chance of some inclement weather and I have to teach a math class Thursday morning.  I've been on HSC's campus, but never to a basketball game there.  Is Fleet the building just past the football field endzone?  Seems like I heard there were some changes.  Anyway, it would be great to meet you again and be able to talk more.   Hopefully, from my perspective, the Tigers won't start their hot streak until AFTER the Quakers leave town.  :)

Brian-I stand corrected-you did win in 2007,but we've won 3 of the last 4@ Fleet and will probably have a hard time this yr-Take out your aggressions on GC!!We're just tryin' to stay in 2nd at this point...
2RMCFans-I thought we were on break-I wondered why my friends in YJC were so generous with tix for me and another friend who's taking his JV b-ball team there!!Lets make some noise-I'm still trying to work out logistics so I can attend wed-The Center of the Universe is 1.5-2hrs from me in Hampton Roads depending on traffic!...and what is a trip to Ashland w/out dinner either @ Andy's or the Smokey Pig be4 the game??!! Hope to be able to make it....

I've noticed (and liked!) it also.  It's funny.  Sorry I haven't commented earlier, but Brian's note prompted me to speak up.  lol  By the way, I think the Tigers should hold all their pent-up aggression UNTIL the RMC game.  :)

Come on Hasa, we have 4 home games in a row and we need to get started with a win.  If it makes you feel better, we will beat you then beat Macon so you can be tied again provided you both win all of your other games. :)  On a serious note though, the Tigers have a tough stretch to the end the season.  They play GC, E&H, 'Noke, RMC and @VWC.  The good news is that they have played better at home, but that is still a tough stretch.  Now is the time to get on a streak leading into the ODAC tourney!

I know you need to get a win, but just not against the Quakers!  lol  Oddly, the "beat GC, then recreate a tie by beating RMC" scenario makes me feel only marginally better.  :)   To your point, however, HSC does have about as tough a five game stretch as you can have to end the ODAC season.  GC, Roanoke and RMC are current contenders, VWC still has a great program and with E&H, who knows what they're going to do? ... just witness the win over the Marlins two days ago!
