Ursinus finished 12-13.

So seeing Randolph-Macon in person is enough to tell you they are worthy -- how many of the other at-large teams did you see this year?

Correction Hasanova: the descriptive phrase "thugs from the beach" was not created or promoted by VWC student athletes, administration, faculty, alumni, or friends. It was a label put on them because of their aggressive play. After all, they are perceived as a little different by the likes of some of the more established schools in the ODAC. I can assure you that no one who is associated with Virginia Wesleyan or its athletic programs would ever refer to their teams as such. No, that comes from elsewhere.
Good to hear from you, jww.  I did not know the origin of the phrase, so I appreciate the clarification.  As you so correctly stated, it's certainly not something I'd expect a college - or its many stakeholders - to promote.

Ursinus finished 12 and 13?  Then that says something about the people that do the mid season rankings.  And I dont have to see other teams to know that rmc was deserving.  Not saying other teams didnt b/c im sure they did.  BUt thats why d3 is flawed.  There at least needs to be some sort of NIT for d3.  20 and 5 is a great record.  Im not sure what more your need.  And im sure the guilford loss hurt but if you saw the game you know it could have went either way.  Rmc was winning the majority of the time and it just fell through at the end.  If the game was at crenshaw then im sure it would have went the other way.  RMC went 14 and 2 in the confrence! the two times the lost were against tourny teams now.  sorry im just frustrated and still believe they deserved a spot.   Was it rmc's fault ursinus ended up with a terrible year?  No but when they played them they were ranked number 13 in the country and still beat them.  They did the most the could with there chances.  And were terribly unlucky that they drew vwc in round 1.  i saw the game and saw vwc several times this year.  they were no seven seed.  look out for them to win a few games in the tourny

I don't think so. They could've beaten W&J. They could've beaten DeSales.

the most certainly could have beaten both of those teams but that was extremely early in the year and both were on the road  if they had played them later in the season when they hit their stride i dont think they would have had any problem with either of the teams

Pat Coleman

Well, unfortunately, the system doesn't really do much for teams that take a while to hit their stride and then also don't win their conference's automatic bid. You gotta at least do one or the other.

 odacfan1225,
I have deep respect for Coach Rhoades and Coach Byers. I am very disheartened that RMC is out of the tourney. This is a game that a coach prepares the players in practice and the games are played for and by the students/players.
As I said in my post on friday afternoon after Guilford was beaten, Jackets here it is for you now go out and do it. Well they did not go out and do it. I did not see or listen to the game. I did however look at the stats from the game and it appears that the same flaws got them again.
Point being it was right in front of them on friday and they didn't take advantage.
Can not BLAME the NCAA comittee for that. You can BLAME the players. IMHO RMC did not get the shaft.

It's disappointing to see ODAC fans that know the game genuinely wish the Marlins to lose.  I understand not enjoying their style of play.  I even understand objecting to the attitudes of individual players.  I don't, however, feel it reasonable to wish losses on a team that has represented the conference through a National Championship and a National Runner-Up.  The ODAC is respected more nationally today than they have been in the 10 years I've been following the league.  Ben Strong and the improved play throughout the conference deserves partial credit.  However, the variable that has driven our conference forward into the national spotlight the most has been the Marlins making back to back championship appearances and the heroics of Adair and Balenga.  When I come across basketball fans that happen to know of the ODAC, these are the events and names I hear.

I'm not making this point to convince everyone to love Virginia Wesleyan.  Rather, I would only hope that ODAC fans would respect the team.  I would never route against an ODAC team in postseason play, let alone the team that has recently brought the conference further respect and notoriety.  It's disappointing that other so-called ODAC fans can do so.  I can assure you that the Virginia Wesleyan campus, students and faculty alike, would have been pulling for any ODAC teams in the coming weeks... thugs or not.

I guess conference loyalty isn't important to some.  In some cases it doesn't even appear to be as important as loyalty to fun teams to watch.  I don't agree but to each his own.

Here's to being an ODAC fan.  Go GC and VWC!

Justin Short is a nice player . He took the team as far as he could. He needed help which did not come. I do not think he is all-american material.  You have to remember that d3 has what ?? 330 teams. That gives you alot of players playing on very good teams that finished higher than RMC and Justin.  Just to let you see how I look at things, and this is only me I think that no one on Lynchburg team should be named to the all ODAC teams at the end of the year!

I try not to make statements about players this time of year because we haven't looked at all the nominations -- heck, we just started collecting nominations yesterday. He certainly looks like a candidate but since we only name 10 backcourt players and 15 frontcourt players nationally, there are few guarantees.

I don't feel comfortable making any statements beyond the Kent Raymond/Jimmy Bartolotta level at the moment.

  GP05,
Don't know if any of what you said was directed towards me . If it was I have not said I hope they lose. I never said I was an ODAC fan. I am a Basketball fan. I am a Coach Rhoades fan. I am a Coach Byers fan. I am a RMC fan because I like Rhoades and Byers.

Justin Wansley was All american material I deff. think short is.  The kid averaged 30 his senior year in high school, ppl say it wont translate to college, then he comes and averages almost 20 his senior year at Macon.  Plus he has tons of intangibles that arent on the stat sheets.  I believe he is at least honorable mention
