In case you haven't seen it, the lead story on the d3hoops.com home page covers the Quakers and the Mass-Dartmouth Corsairs ... nicely done by Matt Florjancic.

Full disclosure, baselinejam saw an average JCU team (they finished 12-14) smoke Washington & Lee by 29 a couple years back and apparently still has a problem with it.  I remember him bringing this up back then.

I've seen a couple flagrant fouls against JCU, but no more than your average team.  JCU is definitely physical, dirty...not at all.

To be fair, full disclosure on my part... I would probably tend to notice other teams' tough fouls more than mine.  I'm a tad biased.

I'm here live at JCU and hope to be able to provide sporadic updates of the games over in the OAC room, for anyone interested.

This will probably get some notice outside the ODAC board. :o

I've only seen John Carroll play once. They were very well organized and talented. They were also the dirtiest team I've seen in the past 5 years & the coach did nothing to rein them in. I'm interested to learn what others have experienced with JCU and whether or not my 1 time view was an aberration.

So far JCU fans say their team is physical. My query was pointed towards JCU's opponents ("I'm interested to learn what others have experienced with JCU and whether or not my 1 time view was an aberration"). I asked a question  & haven't received an opinion form an impartial observer.

The way JCU fans have described their own team is fine. However I've been around hoops long enough to say that someone on my team may appear to be an A-hole to an opponent; but we love him 'cause he's our A-hole. So I can read the code - 'Yeah we're dirty, but hey they're my team. So I'm all in favor of it as long as we win'.

If someone can tell me my single experience was unusual then I can cast aside my opinion. Until that happens I'd recommend the Quakers prepare for lots of holding, moving screens & cheap shots.

Wow I'm sure the Quakers will be intimidated.   ;D

Seriously, it could throw us off our game.  But intimidated?  No.  Not.

Quakers lead, 35-23, with less than 2 minutes left in the first half!

Sanborn and Bonner each have 11 points.

sludge

I guess it is 37-29 Guilford at the half.  So far so good.  Guilford hasn't been intimated by the pressure.
Sanborn has been all-Sanborn.

Quakers lead, 75-73, and have the ball after the timeout with 0:18 left in the game.  Henson is fouled and goes to the line and knocks down the first one and the second.  The Blue Streaks miss a shot and Henson gets the rebound is again fouled.  He knocks down the first to put the Quakers ahead by 5 points now, 78-73.  Another timeout, with Henson going to the line for the second and some of the crowd is starting to leave.  Henson misses but the Quakers win the game, 78-73!

UT-Dallas in the Elite Eight tomorrow evening.

Cool!  Guilford lead all game and hung in there strong.  The ODAC is a good training ground.
What a rebuilding year for Guilford!

Cool!  Quakers are in the Elite Eight for the second time in three years.  With both Ohio teams out, it'll be similar to last weekend at Centre - no local team support.  Guilford has already played the UT-D Comets in November on their court in Dallas.

The first person to congratulate GC Coach Tom Palombo after the game?  UT-D Coach Butterfield.  He and Palombo both coached at Virginia Wesleyan at the same time ... Butterfield the men's team and Palombo the women's team.

Quakers are now 24-5 for the third year in a row!  Congratulations to JCU for a fine season ... 25-5 and 21 in a row is a great year!

Wow, 21 in a row is amazing.

Congrats to Guilford...1 win away from an ODAC team in the final four!

I know its a year away, but I think that the ODAC next year will be as tough as its ever been.

hasanova

I think the ODAC will be strong again also.  It certainly bodes well for Guilford that everyone will be back except Stanley and Neville.

DeWayneCarter

I bodes well for the entire ODAC.... next year Guilford will be coming back from (at least) and Elite 8 berth, VWC will be coming off and ODAC title and NCAA appearance, RMC will always be tough, Turner King will be a Sr. for HSC so he'll want to go out with a bang, EMU and W&L have become teams that could potentially contend for a title as well as Bridgewater and the rest of the league will be tough.... but good luck to Guilford tomorrow!
